Horses for healing has realiy helped me recogize what I'm feeling and when I'm feeling it. The horses are so intune with you ane mirror your emotions. I've also bee gaining self confidence by being the leader and getting the horse to follow me. I have worked with several of the horses over the 4 years I have been receiving services. Each horse has taught me something different about my self. The staff has been great too. I have worked with Kaitlyn most of that time and she really helps me understand how the horses are trying to communnicate.
Horses for Healing is a life changing place! The horses, the staff, and everyone you meet are so welcoming and kind. The therapy structure is incredible and I feel so lucky to be apart of this wonderful organization and community!

It has certainly been a pleasure for my husband and I to volunteer with Horses for Healing and witnessing this type of therapy with horses.
Staff members are friendly, with amazing detail in feeding/caring for the herd including keeping the facility top notch daily with the comforts and privacy in a outdoor setting surrounded by horses to interact with or just watch.
I have had an overwhelmingly positive experience with Horses For Healing since my introduction last year and continuing through the present. My therapist, Hattie, is hands down the best I have encountered out of many therapists over the last 20 years. She is frighteningly perceptive and so is extremely good at what she does. Therapy is difficult and often draining yet Hattie is able to gently guide the process. She is persistent and consistent and not afraid to challenge me, which has helped ground me in new ways. with all of that, the surroundings also have an effect. The new location provides a setting that is wonderful; bright, open, spacious, and yet retains the serenity necessary for therapy. I highly encourage anyone looking for alternative therapy to investigate all that Horses For Healing provides.

I believe the value and benefit of equine therapy is underrated and/or little known. I grew up with horses, my paint horse was my refuge and escape from a dysfunctional childhood. It was last year, when I returned here (my home state) from military service, that I reconnected with horses. I became reacquainted with the magic of horses and learned about Heart Math when I became a volunteer at another facility. However I found my mental health declining again and after researching therapists, decided equine therapy might more suitable than the traditional therapy I previously engaged in. This was the best decision I have ever made with respect to my mental health. Working with Hattie has set me firmly on a path to processing past traumas and their aftermath and current difficulties. I have experienced positive growth and awareness of unhelpful thought processes and am learning more and more each session how to focus and differentiate between reactive and passive emotional responses. Horses For Healing should be the first option for veterans in search of therapy in my opinion. The therapists at Horses For Healing, the horses, and the environment are well suited for anyone in need of a calm and open setting. I immediately experienced that calmness and serenity my first session and know that this supports the healing process. Your therapist and chosen horse serve as guides to your emotions, emotions that you may not be aware of having. Your therapy horse can help you tune in to yourself as your therapist works with you, and if you allow it, your horse will share your burden and will help you release it. Horses For Healing deserves the highest praise for what they are doing to support the community and I give my strongest recommendation to any in search of mental health services. I fully trust in the magic of the horses and the competence and caring of the therapists at Horses For Healing.

My older daughter has been with Horses for healing for over 3 years and it has been life changing for her. She had been with other facilities in the past and nothing worked for her. The setup and way the therapist work with the clients and horses is astounding. Even when we moved over 45 minutes away, I knew for the sake of my daughter we could not change her therapist. Weekly we make the drive because it’s such a positive impact for her. In fact I got on the waiting list for my second daughter and since she has started it has already helped her so much as well. I highly recommend the facility to others. We have only worked with Bethany and Celina but they both have been amazing therapist. When you have kids that have been through trauma it’s takes the right faculty and person to work with them. Hands down this is the best we have ever encountered. I’m so thankful for the staff at Horses for Healing and the effort and positivity they put into their clients.

We have felt incredibly supported and important the entire time our son has been a client at Horses for Healing. Each week he meets with his therapist, he learns more about his emotions and gets more comfortable talking about difficult things. Horses for Healing has been a wonderful program. We had tried traditional therapies and counseling prior but find HFH to be much more beneficial with greater growth and healing. It becomes safe space and the approach works amazingly well. I highly recommend this program and hope more programs like this would open to be able to serve more clients!
Believe it or not, Horses for Healing is helping me with my tendency to hoard. You herd that right, horses help with hoarding. It's amazing what a therapist who eats hay can do for you! I have been going to Horses for Healing for a while now and its been great! I am a disabled veteran coping with ptsd from my service in the Army, and I am not exaggerating when I say Horses for healing has saved my life! Working with my therapist and my horse these months has changed my way of thinking and dealing with challenges that come up from time to time. Horses For Healing has been instrumental in my journey to heal from the wounds of war. When I came to the ranch I was treated with respect and my therapy was catered to what I needed. Equine therapy has truly helped benefit my life and my mental health, it has given me a new outlet that makes me feel fulfilled and alive. The staff at Horses For Healing are amazing, they are warm and inviting and I really felt their desire to help me. This differs from experience with the VA and other therapies, where I was always told that my PTSD has "too many events" or that I needed to focus on the first traumatic event. I have been a clinical therapist and social worker for over 30 years. I have seen the strengths and limitations of traditional, office based therapy. It works for many, and not so well for many too. Horses for Healing incorporates a whole different set of elements - horses, the outdoors, etc. - which opens up entirely new possibilities of connection, communication, empathy, vulnerability and unique community.
