Hope of the valley has saved my life many times, But during the pandemic, I found myself at an all time low with being laid off and no payment from EDD for 9 months.
Moving along, I got into the Tiny Homes in San Fernando Valley (Reseda) stayed very short time, with the Hop of The Valley to only get a housing voucher, WOW! Staff was great there.
Unfortunately I got a un experienced housing navigator, who (don't get me wrong, because I am VERY grateful) put me in an terrible neighborhood,
Where, my life has gone down hill ever since. I felt safer sleeping in my car than my apartment. This is where I have had identity theft, physically hit over too of head with a broom trying to get me to fall down concrete stairs, (when coming home from work), gang stalked, and the list goes on! AND the final straw, they kept breaking into my in place and car on the daily basis,(management doesn't care,NO cameras) as of now, I can't get anyone to help me,even supervise at Hope Of the Valley, but, my car took a crap, and now I'm even in a worse in position than before. OH YEAH the list my physical voucher too. So, there goes my jobs, because I commute toLA. And, back to the streets I go as a single white female at 50! Thanks Hope Of THe valley! I have been following a homeless man named Alex on YouTube. His channel name is vpgloves. He has no family. He is in the Inland Empire California vicinity. He does live streaming for donations, when he can get a hotel he does, if not, he's on the streets. He is in his early 40's. He is not an addict or alcoholic. I am a viewer from Maryland just trying to help him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. He has an expired driver's license, no birth certificate or social security card, so no way to get a job. Hi, my name is Aubrey, D. through out my life I have experienced both sides of homelessness. Myself like at this moment and witnessing others and friends whom are homeless. It is a most horrible altering life position to be in but thankfully to charity's and caring loving people, there is hope restored to those in need. The shelter at 7702 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys California is managed by the devil. Not once in 8 days had any case managers ask if we had any medical issues. My 19 year old son has generalized seizures. He could have a seizure and not wake up, management said it was not their responsibility to make other staff aware of his condition. They use latex gloves. I have a rash on both my arms because they never asked if I have any allergies. They have poor sanitation practices. They let people break rules under their noses. Not one person has food safety training. They don't let dogs bark, it is frowned upon. They forced abstainance upon ny legal husband and I. The list goes on and on. I would not send ny enemies there. They are evil.
Had a great experience helping at Hope of the Valley. Great organization and staff who treat everyone who comes in with the dignity and respect they deserve. Highly recommend volunteering here, and will definitely be back.

Hi my name is jeremy and I started going to hope of the valley as of July 2019, my friend told me about this place as I became homeless may 2019, when I arrived I didnt want to go in I was embarrassed but I realized this place is friendly great environment for myself. I'm able to shower charge my phone use the internet meet great people seek great job opportunities. Not to much get fed breakfast and lunch EVERYDAY really great place

I spent the morning with colleagues volunteering at the Intake Center, seeing the operations, meeting the guests, and ultimately cooking and serving lunch to the guests. It was very eye opening having been born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. This organization does great work and has a wonderful, friendly staff that made us feel so welcomed and appreciated.
Love this place and the space that's been created at the help center that's brings a willingness to explore ways to help instead of ways to judge thoes who's lives are fragmented.

Our group helped to provide lunch service. The staff was extremely kind and those we served were very grateful. It felt good to help in a small way and to support the staff who work so hard every day to provide a safe place for our homeless community.
Hope of the Valley provides a great service to the community to help the homeless in Los Angeles. Team Beachbody visited there and we had a chance to prepare and serve for a lunch service. It was a humbling experience to help out, even for one day, to provide smiles and hope for those that are down on their luck.

Today at Hope of the Valley, I met so many amazing people. They were so happy and thankful to get water, soup, and cookies. We laughed and told stories, teaching me much about my community. At the end, they gathered us all and gave us a round of applause.
Today I gave soup, water, and coffee to a group of homeless men and women and went around helping them with anything they needed. It was great.

I went with my school and I spent my day helping out. I enjoyed serving food, especially the chicken. I loved seeing the faces of the people who received the food, it made my day. This place is extremely hopeful and great at helping people.
I went for a school service day and didnt expect it to be as impactful as it was. The way you could tell people were truly grateful for whatever you gave them, and a lot of them had nice things to say when you helped them. One woman kept thanking us and it was really kind and affected me way more than i thought it would. This rescue mission was fantastic.

I was a volunteer at this organization, and It was cool to me that the stigma against homeless people all being drug addicts or not mentally stable isn’t true.
I came here with my school and we served lunch. We started off cutting the dessert and making little gift bags. After that, we served lunch. There were people who gave out the food but I personally made the plates of good with my friends. I thought it was an amazing experience. I liked making the plates and people thanking me and telling me how nice I was. It made me feel nice and made me feel like I was making an impact on them ;)

Served a holiday meeting on 12/20/19. Jonathan is amazing and really helped run the distribution. We sat everyone and had our kids serve them a warm home cooked meal - ham, mac-n-cheese, salad, and pie. They loved it.

I am part of a Connecting Mom organization and we helped the homeless yesterday by handing out jackets, toiletries, handing out a hot meal and just sitting and talking with them to hear their stories. Hope of the Valley is an outstanding nonprofit that really sits down and listens to try and help homeless get back on their feet. Led by the wonderful Jonathan Leeper, it was an eye-opening experience for me to watch and learn what is happening in our valley. Thank you for the experience and hopefully one day in the near future, homelessness will not be such an epidemic as it has become today. Until then, Hope of the Valley is 150% there to help! Jonathan Leeper the Volunteer Coordinator is amazing! He’s so impressive, caring and compassionate! We came with treats for the homeless and share donated clothes. I was so impressed with this organization. They are caring and helpful and so generous with all of the homeless people that came. Now I see how much people appreciate it when a warm jacket is gifted to them. Their faces lit up! We offered hot food and toiletries. It was an amazing experience!!!

Today I came with a group of women from our "Connecting with Moms" organization to feed, learn about the Mission and meet the "guests" that come through on a daily basis. This access center for the Homeless not only provides love, compassion and respect to the "guests" it also provides much needed resources such as food, health services, clothing, showers, etc. Jonathan, the Volunteer Coordinator, greeted 25 of us and welcomed our group with open arms and gratitude. This Rescue Mission is an amazing organization and I highly encourage everyone to contact the center to volunteer in any capacity. The "guests" are gracious and so appreciative of the compassion and love we were allowed to give.
I reached out to jonathan to see how I would be able to get involved in helping out with the community. He was very helpful from the beginning to end. Coming here was one of the most eye opening experiences.

My students and I went over to feed the guests and to provide health checks. This was an amazing experience. We go to speak to everyone, hear their stories and just to be an ear for them. It was a great experience for my students because as future nurses they need to know how to work with all humans. Even those going through rough times. It was amazing to see all the smiles. It was amazing to feel the love in the air. Jonathan is beyond amazing in what he does. I want to be involved as much as I can and this will not be the last that Mr. Jonathan sees us.

My experience serving food to all the people was nice I felt good when one of them told me I am so sweet. And another one told me the story of his wife being in the medical field he said that is hard but he knows I could do it.
For a Cabeau Cares charity event, I invited my company Cabeau to come help serve our local charity and homeless community in the valley. Little did we expect were the passionate speeches and introductions from Jonathan, his staff, longtime volunteers and homeless folks that really made the day so much more worthwhile to help out in. We helped with inventory of clothing items, washed cans, chopped up dessert, salads and fruit to serve to the community. We're glad we gave our time to Hope of the Valley.
This 10 year old mission station is really about hope: giving it to the clients who come for a warm meal, a shower, some clothing, or just to talk to someone and try to get back on their feet. We went to fill the stomachs of the people who had gathered there for lunch, and left with our own hearts full.
My daughter and I recently volunteered for the lunch meal today and it was a fun and rewarding experience. Very organized and friendly staff.

I came to Los Angeles to celebrate my birthday and wanted to do a service on the same day. How fortunate was I to have found Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission? Mr Jonathan provided a short orientation for us and shared a snippet of his story as well. We were then off to meet some of their clients and feed lunch.

I was searching for a place to serve with my boys weekly, and hope of the valley has been such a wonderful place to serve and bring my kiddos ages 8 & 10. The people are truly what makes this place. It’s very centered around relationship building and giving ALL people the gift of being served. I feel it’s very important to serve year round- not just during the holidays. There is a huge need in our community, and coming to a place like this is a great way to be reminded that our homeless community isn’t just a statistic or number - but these are real, genuine, people just like you and I! I highly recommend coming here to volunteer and getting in touch with Johnathan!

I recently visited Hope of the Valley with 10 of my high school classmates, where the staff guided us to do some amazing work. It taught me many life lessons and showed me how important it is to volunteer my time. I didn’t know what to expect, but the lovely staff welcomed us and got us working in no time, and in a very enjoyable way. I recommend that all people who consider volunteering their time do so, because it fills your life with joy, and giving to those in need is important. On Thursday, July 18, 2019, I had the pleasure of accompanying several co-workers from Mount Sinai Memorial Parks & Mortuaries to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission. We were greeted warmly by Jonathan and given a tour of the facilities, as well as an overview of what this Mission's short and long-term goals are. We worked as a team to help serve lunch to the homeless and got to see first-hand how a hot meal, a shower, and fresh clothes are sometimes enough to turn someone's mood, or even whole day around. These people are you - they are me - they are any of us who are one paycheck, one bad decision, or one fight with a significant other - away from homelessness. Jonathan brought up a valid point - most of us would notify someone or even break a window if we saw a dog suffering in a hot car, but at the same time we will physically step over the homeless and avoid eye contact. Jonathan rehumanized the homeless so many of us have dehumanized. I believe Jonathan is the heart and soul of HOV and we so appreciated him taking the time to explain the end goal of this Mission which is not to give a hand-out, but a hand-UP, and that makes all the difference. Thanks for a life-changing, meaningful day. We will be back!
Volunteering with Hope of the Valley was an amazing experience! Jonathan was a heartfelt organizer. Upon walking in we overheard a man telling Jonathan he is the nicest man he’s met and I can’t disagree! He made sure everyone was fed, and everyone was happy. I volunteered with a group from Mount Sinai Memorial Parks, and volunteering for Hope of the Valley was a great reminder that we really have to be more mindful about taking care of one an other and "pay it forward" however we can. Johnathan is a very special person who took his own experience with life to give back to others with DIGNITY while working hard to address and deconstruct all of the stigmas associated with homelessness. It was an amazing time. I got to talk to many different people, they all had different backgrounds and histories. It made me notice how the people who aren’t as fortunate as me live. I am so thankful that I was welcomed by everyone. This is definitely a highlight of my trip.
We loved our high school youth groups experience at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission and Central Lutheran Church. Safe for the volunteers and those receiving a meal, clothes, shower and spiritual guidance.
I went here on a mission trip with my church youth group to serve food and talk with the homeless guests there. I met two great people, Joe and DJ. Joe told me and others in my group about his life, and it was truly amazing to speak with him. DJ wasn't as talkative, and he left while we were serving food. After a while, he came back and gave one of the people in our group a cheesecake he bought for our group. 10\10 was an experience like no other, + there were friendly dogs :)

Came with my youth group heard and fed many “homeless” and those in need. I left feeling the warmth and love of an entire neighborhood. After this eye opening experience I left not thinking homeless people but just people with stories and ideas.

Our Keller Williams office came to volunteer here today and the experience was humbling and very memorable. We helped feed the homeless and prepared bags with toiletries and other various things. Last Thursday I visited Hope of the Valley in Van Nuys and I was instantly impacted by the work they are doing there. Once I stepped in I felt that I was now able to actually make change. I didn’t feel helpless anymore. I had never truly looked into the eyes of someone who is experiencing homelessness until that day. My heart was warmed and I was able to make a connection with so many beautiful individuals. By just serving lunch, bringing clothes and food and getting a chance to see the amazing work they do there I feel changed for the better. Jonathan gave us a tour and his passion and love for the people is so evident. It was truly an amazing experience and I encourage everyone to come and help out.

Our Bible Study group was studying about Jonah and we wanted to go to help people in need. We went to Hope of the Valley on 3/7/19 to serve lunch. It was a wonderful experience. The people--guests, servers, helpers and organizers were all terrific people and we were the ones who benefited from the experience. We are now organizing efforts to provide men's clothing for the facility. My husband and I already support Hope of the Valley and appreciate what they do for people.

I came down with Xperi Corp from Calabasas. We helped distribute sanitary and food bags. Then we helped feed guests in the Chapel. It was a great experience.
We've volunteered for a day to make hygiene and lunch kits. We distributed them along with other food to people. The look of gratitude on their faces was the most valuable thing I have ever received. If I lived in California I would volunteer here often no second thoughts.

My Bible Study group had an amazing time today. We were able to serve lunch to Hope of the Valley’s approximately 170 guests. There was a short message by one of their Pastors about God’s love for us and then we served a hot lunch to everyone there. It was a very smooth operation and the guests were very nice and appreciative. The love of God is well represented by this organization!

Was a positive and educational experience as a chaperone for our school volunteering to serve food and give love to our homeless. I had a great day at Hope of the Valley. I interacted with some of the nicest homeless people I've ever met. I was serving food to people and they were saying how much of a blessing our school was. I finally noticed that they were just like normal people and want the same desires as all of us.
It was so cool to see what Jonathon and his staff are doing there with the people and I loved how I really got to interact with the people there and how it made me feel like I did something for our world. An amazing experience

I have come to volunteer for the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission for two years in a row now, and for each time I’m taken aback by the kindness and genunuity of all the people here. Even if you haven’t been before or haven’t done something like volunteering, it feels like a very safe place where love really does flow through the walls of this place.

My school takes 8th grade students here to volunteer each year. We took 40 students to HOV on Wednesday and Thursday last week. It was a wonderful, eye-opening experience for many of the students. They learned the many reasons people could be homeless and then had the opportunity to make snack bags with notes for the guests and serve the guests a warm meal. Watching the students serve the meal and interact with the guests is amazing as this is when our students make the connection that the guests are people just like them. I highly recommend volunteering at HOV.

I had an amazing experience helping out and learning more about this wonderful place. It completely shattered my views and stereotypes on homeless people. It gave me a great oppurtunity to interact with some of the homeless people there who were so heartwarming.
I had a life-changing experience volunteering at Hope of the Valley with my school. In the past, most of the volunteering I'd done hadn't been while face-to-face with people I was helping - a lot of packing bags and boxes for people I'd never meet - and Hope of the Valley blew me away. Jonathan was a fantastically inspiring speaker (and just about the nicest person you'll ever meet), and getting to walk up to and serve plates at lunchtime instead of a buffet setup meant everyone volunteering got to have really meaningful interactions with many different clients. Even beyond that, we got to hand out bags of snacks we'd decorated with cards we'd made, and seeing first hand how much this meant to them was incredibly moving. Hope of the Valley itself is doing incredible things to help people experiencing homelessness - I've visited about five or six homeless shelters, food banks, and soup kitchens over the past two years, and not one of them had both the range of services and the loving, caring individual atmosphere of Hope of the Valley (on the tour, we saw a computer room for job-training, a closet with all sizes of clothing available free of charge, showers - there was even an AA meeting going on while we were there). Overall, Hope of the Valley combines an inspiring, meaningful, and highly enjoyable experience for volunteers with an opportunity to make a real impact in a short time. I definitely intend to volunteer there again in the near future, and hope to see you there!
I have lived a very lofty life, my parents both came to the U.S at very young ages to get an education so they could provide for their future families. They never fail to remind me that the conditions they used to live in were nowhere near as amazing as the condition I live in today. Fast forward a couple years and my parents have me. Spoiled little me, as I grew up I was immersed in private schools, luxurious trips, and overall an amazing life. Overtime, this imaginary bubble formed that concealed the sheer reality of what goes on in the real world. While I was busy living this crazy life I never stopped and noticed what goes on outside of my world. I always knew there were problems that needed to be fixed but I always looked at it in the mindset of “someone else will fix it.” instead of “I need to fix it.” Growing up the norm of not acknowledging homeless people became very strong in my family, it was always a stereotype for homeless people that they are “crazy, mentally ill, unsafe, and etc. I was taught to just look away or go on my phone... essentially cower from people that are just like me but just living a different story. Today, my bubble was popped. I was face to face with displaced people that just wanted some food, shelter, and someone to talk to. Passing out food to these people is something so eye opening to me that has completely changed my view on displaced people. I got to indulge in rich conversations with them, give them hugs, and tell them everything was going to be ok. The problem of displaced people is such a chaotic storm full of beautiful people both inside and out. This trip was not just helpful for the people it was so helpful for me. I felt like I had filled a void that yearned for such warmth and love I received from these people. The next time you think about a school trip to educate your kids, think about Hope of the Valley because this place is absolutely incredible. p.s. love u jonathan!! - elika

A group of faculty and staff from Milken Community Schools went together to Hope of the Valley for a day of Service. Our time at their extraordinary site activated our minds, stirred our souls, and prompted us toward action. We learned about the big picture of homelessness in LA from the visionary Pastor Ken; heard personal stories from Jonathan and many of the guests there; and walked away with a sense of purpose and gratitude. Hope of the Valley provides people with much more than food and shelter; it gives guidance, wisdom, community and opportunity. How blessed we were to join HOV in leaving our world a better place than we found it.
I came here with Milken Community Schools. Our faculty and staff decided to spend our professional development day in service to our local community. Hope of the Valley is a wonderful, warm and compassionate facility. The staff was amazing and dedicated. We served hot meals and bagged lunches and everything ran smoothly. Wonderful nonprofit!

A wonderful organization committed to bringing dignity and kindness to those who have fallen on hard times. We came here with our three children (9yo, 7yo & 2yo) to serve lunch on MLK Jr Day and we’re welcomed by Jonathan and the rest of the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission staff, as well as those who came for a meal the with gratitude and love. Our synagogue volunteered together today to serve hot lunch to the homeless. It was an incredible experience. We brought our two boys (ages 4 and 6) and they helped hand out water bottles, napkins, and salad. So great to find a place where our whole family can volunteer together, to show our children how fortunate they are and to give them the opportunity to serve others. It was s memorable day. Jonathan, the guy who gave us the tour and guided us throughout, was so kind, knowledgeable, and open hearted. We’ll definitely be back to cimunteee here again.

My family came with a group from our school to serve a. Walk to the homeless. It was an amazing experience. Jonathan who runs the place got all the kids involved. Kids who were nervous at first were smiling by the end of the experience. Clients are treated like family. It's a wonderful place.

We each left feeling inspired and eager to do more to help. Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission is an amazing organization doing amazing things to help those in their community. You can tell the staff cares about each individual that walks through their door. If you're able to help, I encourage you to do so.

25 members of Dover Food Retail spent the afternoon preparing to serve lunch to the homeless people of the community. It was a cold and rainy day and it was great to see the people enjoy a hot meal and get as much as they wanted. Jonathon was a great coordinator and definitely was a perfect example of truly wanted to give back to his community.

Volunteering here was the highlight of my year. The guest here are so sweet listening to them talk to each other you can definitely feel the love. I appreciated Jonathan taking the time to show us the beautiful gardens and the facilities. I look forward to coming back.
This was my first experience working directly with the homeless and I feel so blessed to have been able to share a hot meal with these wonderful people. The community here is so supportive and the environment feels secure, and I would recommend anyone to spend a few hours here to serve meals and share a moment with the guests.
I feel so blessed to have been given the chance to come and help out here. It truly opened up my eyes to how we should look at people and not assume what they are going through. People that are experiencing homelessness are regular people just like us with bad luck. I loved my time spent here because I got to experience first hand what goes on everyday and I got to see the time it takes to prep everything. I got to hear a lot of stories that truly changed my perspective not only on people but it changed my perspective on the world. It was a life changing experience.

A homeless man offering me an orange. Confusion struck my mind and I began to realize that these people all have emotions and are willing to help even if they need the most help. The fact that I didn't need anything but this man who needed food and just a smile to make him feel better offering me out of all people food. Amazed me and made me think.

I went with my junior classmates as a retreat to help others. At first I came, and I was not very comfortable and did not think this was going to make a difference on my life, but after actually coming here and helping, I would definitely come back to help. The people who come here's stories really impacted my life and made me change my perspective on helping and what needs to be done in the world to help. Working at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission was an amazing overall experience. This was my first time working at a center such as this, but I am very glad I took part in this retreat. I was very moved by all the people we helped during lunch and was grateful to be able to put a smile on their faces. As much as we were able to help them, they were able to help me. I will definitely be returning to Hope of the Valley to continue in my service and giving back to those in need.

Johnathan welcomed us with open arms and was kind the whole time. The things that the staff does here is truly amazing. There are showers, clothes, meals, and a computer lab all free of charge. I was very moved by the time I spent volunteering at Hope of the Valley. The people here were very friendly, whether it was the volunteers or the clients. There are amazing opportunities to help and they provide many services to people who need it. I was highly influenced by the amount of people who came to visit in just the short amount of time I was here.
10/04 I learned so much from this volunteering experience at Hope of the Valley! It was truly inspiring and memorable. I met Jonathan and Star, two of whom are such grateful, friendly souls. Many of the staff were very welcoming and very very cooperative. The experience I had with my fellow classmates here taught me teamwork and determination. It was an experience to go down in the books.
I volunteered at this Mission recently. I go to school in the area. We brought a lot of donations and began to pack lunches. We also cleaned some sodas and learned about the homeless community. We got to serve a lot of people a hot meal along with a packed lunch to take with them. It's a great way to get involved and help people in your own community. Volunteering here today, has impacted my life for the better and changed my perception on this issue. You hear about homelessness and people with nothing, but to see this firsthand was a completely different story. It saddened me to see, but lifted me up to know I was brightening their days. One woman told me that she had previously lived in a tent for three years, and had officially moved into a house. She was so excited to tell me, which made her success story even greater. Overall this experience was absolutely amazing and one I will remember forever. I look forward to coming back again VERY soon!
I loved volunteering my time here at this nonprofit organization because I got to experience working with the other volunteers in the everyday activities they do to prepare to serve the homeless with lunch. I was fortunate enough to serve fresh and hot food to everyone as well as making small conversation. It made me re think my opinion and views on the homeless, it made me realize that they just want a chance in the community to do good, but without people judging them based on looks and what their attitude will be in response.

Hope of the Valley is a very special place to us! My children & I have been volunteering at Hope of the Valley (HOTV) for about nine years now. We come throughout the summer, as well as the holidays. Serving is dear to our hearts & we choose to do it with HOTV because of the warm staff & gracious clients. Every time we go, I hope to give a smile & touch their hearts, & without a doubt they always touch mine. HOTV runs a very efficient & smoothly operated service for those in need. The focus is always on their clients & assisting them through their transitional period of their lives. I highly suggest getting involved, & recommend doing at HOTV.
I am a volunteer at Hope of The Valley and wanted to share my experience over the past few months. Not only does Hope of the Valley provide delicious nutritious lunches Mon thru Friday but it is done with such care for each and everyone who comes. Lunches are just part of what they provide for the homeless. They also have computer instruction, showers, and other assistance. Love and respect is shown to each person and it is so very evident each time I am there. Before lunch one of the directors always has a few words of encouragement and inspiration along with a prayer that is said over those attending and over the food. I consider it a privilege to contribute any way I can to this wonderful program because they provide not just food and other tangible items but most importantly love, respect and encouragement to all who come through their doors. Johnathon is the volunteer coordinator and he is extremely friendly and makes sure to send you an email with all the details you need to know prior to getting to the facility. The church is easy to find and you are allowed to park in the gated church parking. All the staff members are friendly and helpful. The organization helps aid many homeless people or those struggling in various aspects such as providing meals daily to giving them access to phone/computes. You can truly feel the selflessness and empathy coming from the staff and volunteers.
I can’t say enough good things about Hope of the Valley; from the way the guests are treated to the services that are provided, this is a very special organization that’s had a huge impact on me and my family. I look forward to my Fridays just because I know I’ll be volunteering. The food is always delicious and served fresh , always different too and there’s always so much variety! Guests have access to showers and computers and are provided clothing if needed. If this alone isn’t enough to change someone’s life, I don’t know what is....

This place is such a wonderful place to go and volunteer. The most important thing about this non-profit organization is all the great work they are providing for the less fortunate. Whether it's job placement or learning new skills and of course the courtesy meals they provide and may i add the environment here is awesome!
Currently, myself and my participants from Easterseals volunteer at Hope of the Valley Van Nuys. We all are extatic to be able to volunteer for such a great organization. As a team we just finished spending some time with the awesome service team and the guests they serve here at the Hope of the Valley organization. We were here to volunteer, but I think we got the most out of the experience. I could not imagine a more caring and giving organization. If you have never been, there may not be an organization more worthy of your time and or donations. Kudos to the team here and the love they show in providing food, clothing, counseling and just a place to be for our fellow (less lucky) citizens.
I am a District Manager at TJmaxx and today myself and my team decided to give back at Hope of the Valley. I have done many volunteer events with work and outside of work as well. Hope of the Valley was one of the best experiences I have ever had. The passion of the staff starting with our host Jonathan was impressive. This community is lucky to have an organization like this that can take care of people in need. Today its "them", tomorrow it could be you. Service to others is how we move forward as human beings, not black or white, poor or rich, home or no home. We are all connected and its important that we take care of each other as we all need each other. Again it was our pleasure and we look forward to coming back soon...
I had the pleasure to volunteer at this AMAZING organization. I am a Store Manager for TJ Maxx and work in the area and was so happy to be able to give my time today to help my community. Hope of The Valley is a wonderful place that has so many services to offer the homeless community. Everyone that walks through the door is treated with respect and dignity, the staff here goes above and beyond to help and make people feel comfortable and relaxed as they take advantage of all that is available to them. From a shower, new clothes, a hot meal , computer/ phone access, this is not even beginning to cover what is offered here. What an wonderful organization. I will definitely be back to serve!

On this beautiful day of August 1st, I came to volunteer with my fellow store managers from TJ Maxx. I found hope of the valley to be a well organized and structured facility that services the needs of our homeless community. It is a safe haven where they can come get a hot shower, fresh pair of clothes, hot meal and be treated with respect and much needed love. I was truly and honor to be a part of this and serve.
Serving the people here at The Hope of the Valley was an awesome experience. I felt that serving others helped me a lot - I felt happy and felt I was making a difference in other's lives in some way. I felt joy and felt happy knowing that I can help put a smile on other's faces.
The Rescue mission at Van Nuys Hope of the Valley on the corner of Victory and Tyrone is an amazing place to serve others. All walks of life are welcome to come and enjoy the hospitality that Jonathan, the service coordinator, and others bring to the hungry in the surrounding community. The only requirement is an attitude of love and compassion for others. The environment is safe and clean and the on site staff hospitable organized and service centered. Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission not only allowed me to change the lives of so many for the better but to have them change my life as well. This place is full of hope, inspiration, love, and support for everyone who is willing to give the time to serve or for those seeking refuge and comfort. I found the staff at Hope of the Valley to be competent and very caring. My firm worked closely with Volunteer Coordinator Jonathan Leeper and he was fantastic. Very organized and helped us feel we made a difference.
Just a minute ago I was able to help Hope of The Valley serve food to the homeless. It was very humbling as a young adult living in a society where community service is not so common. I loved the home feeling and I would definitely come back again.

While trying to find a home for a family member, the search seemed endless and impossible. The city of Los Angeles certainly does not make finding low income housing easy. After posting about the situation on a social media site, I was put in touch with Jonathan who could not have been any more kind, understanding, and helpful. He listened with care and then helped to connect me with someone who could help. Within 45 minutes, we had a home for our family member to live in safely and comfortably. I had spent countless hours over a week searching on my own, and was unable to find anything. With the help of Jonathan it was done in less than an hour.
Jonathan, truly eased our stress and took a bad situation and made it great. We are so grateful to him and Hope of the Valley for all that they have done. Thank you will never be enough.
Hope of the Valley is a great non profit organization that gives back to the community. I really enjoyed volunteering and meeting new people with different backgrounds . This was a new eye opening experience and I really look forward to come back and help out more. I would really recommend volunteering here as it is a fun experience.

Today I had an amazing day volunteering with my key club. We served food to some very nice and friendly people. What made the experience more enjoyable was when someone started playing the piano beautifully.

Hope of the Valley has worked tirelessly for the homeless. I belong to Church of the Valley in Van Nuys, and we have helped with the Hope of The Valley Rescue Mission's serving lunch to the homeless in Van Nuys. We are in partners with them to help the homeless. I am very proud to be the contact person for Church of the Valley to the Hope of the Valley. I hope and pray they continue the great work they are doing and that they will continue to offer other church's to help them. May God Bless all the people who work for Hope of the Valley.

Volunteering at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission was a great experience! Thanks to Hope of the Valley, people in need are provided with food, can take a shower, get clean clothes, get help with job search, and much more.
I enjoyed serving the residence food and drink and receiving gratitude. During cleanup, a few of the residence assisted us with cleanup duties. Overall, the experience was amazing! I would strongly consider volunteering in the future.
We took a group of 25 Finance and IT managers to Hope of the Valley to learn more about the services offered, and to volunteer our time. This event was the highlight of our 3-day team meeting. Jonathan was a very gracious host, providing a tour of their facilities and sharing about their guests. I would strongly recommend this for corporate teams who want to plan an impactful offsite event. It put our day to day work stresses in context, and gave us a greater appreciation of the needs and available services in our communities.
We had an amazing time volunteering at Hope of the Valley. Our office team of about 20 was welcomed by the coordinator, Jonathan, who helped us get organized as we made take-away bag lunches and ultimately served hot meals to the attendees. It was wonderful to see the multiple services the mission provides to its clients -- food, clothing, addiction recovery services, and shower facilities. Jonathan was an inspiration to us for his compassion and humility. And the best part (at least for me) was interacting with the clients. We will definitely be back!
I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Van Nuys location. What a wonderful group of people doing incredibly wonderful things for the community. I was very impressed by the staff and volunteers as well as the facility itself. I cannot wait for my next opportunity to support this excellent organization.
I was pleased to see there plan of action to help the less fortunate. It is not just a place to go after a hospital stay, but a chance for the homeless to get back on there feet. I was thrilled with how they have used my donation to help those who really need help.

I went in to donate to the non-profit organization and get a bit more information about what they do and how they help. Everyone from the cashier to the staff was amazing and are truly there to help out our community and those who have been less fortunate. We should be giving and supporting more our local non-profit organizations to better not just our communities but the people we share this world with. I want to personally thank Isa on this review, the cashier at this non-profit organization for taking the time in explaining all the good that comes from donating and how by just giving a little is helping so much more.

I was referred to hope of the valley through the courts to do my community service. I volunteered in both the shop and in the office with Tesseri . She was super sweet and taught me a lot about what they do for the comunity . If you need a place to do community service or you want to volunteer to help the less fortunate hope of the valley is a great place to do so
I went to hope of the valley genesis house for women and children. Its was clean , modernize, and well sructured. The staff were very vigilant, compassionate and warm hearted to the plight of the families who are there. After that visit i tryly became a believer in what hope of the is doing. This is an organization that is on the frontline fighting to eradicate homelessness by serving with love and offering Hope.
Hope of the valley rescue mission has been part of my family since before 2011, my daughter Tessarei Ambriz joined the mission as part of her passion in helping people in need, volunteering at the San Pablo church serving the community with home cooked meals on Thursday evenings, God gave her a beautiful vision of the corner of San Fernando road and Sunland,that one day that building would be used in helping the local community more, she is now part of the staff, I am so proud of her, she loves what she does, there are not many who can do that, out of the kindness of her big heart towards others in need, this rescue mission has been such a blessing to many now that they have expanded through out the San Fernando Valley and now the Santa Clarita Valley.
I'm the wife of a recovering drug addict who was rescued by hope of the valley. When he had no where to turn, the John Wayne House of Hope took him in, which gave him access to the treatment he needed. There are no words to express how this organization is truly helping those who need it most. Me and my family is forever grateful.
My experience with Hope of the Valley began from behind a computer, within the office. I got to see the organization from a behind the scenes perspective. I attended weekly staff meetings that included prayer and team building, received emails from my supervisors simply asking how I am doing, and had the opportunity to interact with the homeless guests each day. In today's society, it is easy to lose faith in non profit organizations when distrust is so plentiful, and I'm happy to say that Hope of the Valley completely restored my faith in the goodness and power that organization such as this one have. I've seen firsthand lives of the homeless being changed, addicts becoming advocates for justice, and families healed. I learned that it is not enough to feed an individual; it means to understand why they are in their situation and to remedy it as best as we can. This is what I had the honor of witnessing, and I am forever changed because of this amazing organization.
One day, I searched online for a place to volunteer and give back to my community and found Hope of the Valley. I went and helped prep and serve food the following week and it was awesome. I was able to also serve the food to the poor in our area and see how many people were so grateful and in need for this healthy meal we just prepared. The kitchen staff work so hard to give the people in our community healthy meals with really limited raw food options. They truly do work to make the meals healthy and tasty. I was amazed by their creativity and resourcefulness. They are a diamond in the rough here in LA and I'm hoping they are here to stay for a very very long time to not only feed the poor, but also uplift and educate and bring healing to those who are truly ready to heal.
Hope of the Valley is great! The staff and volunteers are very helpful, kind and understanding and they really do their part to help people get off the streets and get them the help they need. Our homeless population is the largest here in LA County and we have very few resources or space available so any help that can be provided I know is greatly appreciated. Thank you Hope of the Valley for all that you do to help those in need.
