Anita, founder of Hope 4 Horses, is amazing and is in it for the long run. She works tirelessly for the horses. Volunteers can not only learn but enjoy hands on experience. I believe that she is fiscally responsible in the management of this organization. Personally, she was there immediately when I needed her regarding a rescue horse. This is not a sanctuary for horses. It is an organization to rehab and train horses for just the right person waiting for them. If you are interested in learning about The Horse, come volunteer and watch this amazing woman and other staff.
Volunteering with Hope 4 Horses in Galt, California for the past year-and-a-half brings me great satisfaction. The work I do there, whether cleaning stalls or assisting with adaptive riding lessons, makes a positive difference to the horses, the students, and my community. Not only do I get to be around horses on a regular basis, I also learn more about horsemanship and about myself every time I'm there. The H4H Board members and the other volunteers are a wonderful group who support each other in observing safe horse-handling practices as well as engaging in activities to enhance the H4H programs. Amazing organization! Horses care and rehabilitation are a top priority at Kiss ranch. Every time I've been to Kiss for lessons and or clinics I leave with admiration for what Anita and all the volunteers do to meet the needs of our equine friends. The care and rescue of an animal in need is their priority, as I've witnessed countless times. HOpe for Horses marshals help; resets their schedule to meet an animals need.
I started volunteering at Hope for Horses after I lost my big off the track thoroughbred boy in tragic circumstances. Anita invited me to come out and work with her, helping to train and tune up other off the track rescues. It has been a great experience and Anita is wonderful with pointers and advice.
It's definitely a special place!
I had spent many years volunteering for a small animal sanctuary but when that ended I decided to return to my first love, horses. I found Hope 4 Horses on line and went out to investigate. What I found was a group of wonderful caring people and an organization that makes a difference everyday in the lives of the many horses who live there.
I got both of my beautiful girls from Hope For Horses. Anaita has a heart of gold and takes good care of the horses while she has them, finds them good homes, and is a wealth of knowledge of which she is very generous so you and your new horse will be suscessful. Anita is the angle on the shoulder of many many lucky horses.
Hope For Horses is an outstanding organization that is operated by people who make the long term welfare of the animals first priority. Anita, who founded and runs it, is able to provide each animal in her care whatever that particular individual needs to heal, learn, or overcome any hardships to become a happy, healthy being. For each animal ready to start their new lives, she uses her people skills, large network of connections and incredible matchmaking talents to find them perfect homes. Hope For Horses consists of people who have an amazing understanding of horses, outstanding horsemanship skills and who are constantly educating themselves to excel even more and continue to improve.
Hope 4 Horses is so much more than a horse rescue! You can get riding lessons - for able-bodied riders of all ages and experience levels, or for those with special needs. You can meet all kinds of horses from Polyanna, the mini, to Lazarus, the Percheron and everything in-between. You can board your horse if you have one, and if you don't, Anita will match you up with your perfect horse - or you can sponsor a horse in need of his own special person. You can learn everything you ever wanted to know about horsemanship. You can even volunteer - with the therapeutic riding program, doing ranch work, office work, helping with special events, etc. You can meet some wonderful people who are as knowledgeable as they are dedicated to what they do and you'll have fun while you're at it!
We took our Girl Scout troop here and had a wonderful day. The staff was so friendly and patient with our little girls. We had a big group and they each got to ride and spend time grooming and petting the horses. It was so hands on and professional, we would go back without a doubt!
I love Hope for Horses. They do amazing work because along with rescuing and training horses, they also incorporate helping humans and the community. I started volunteering about 2 years ago and I love it. Every time I am out at program, there is some sort of event involving the community or a horse being rescued. Hope for Horses is so much more than a rescue and I believe that it should receive this award because of all it does for its community.
I encountered Hope 4 Horses at a very low point in my life. The dedication of the other volunteers and the director, Anita Markiewicz, gradually brought me back to being a more productive and happier person. I have been involved with horses for most of my life and have always wanted to give something back by helping horses in need. Hope 4 Horses takes in horses from bad situations and gives them a new lease on life, finally finding them "forever" homes or providing them with a safe retirement. Hope 4 Horses means hope for people as well, including the therapeutic riding program and community outreach days. I can't recommend this program enough!
Hope for Horses is a wonderful place for horses and people to become better acquainted with one another! I have experienced first hand the love and care they give the horses at the ranch. From horses close to death, to off the track warm bloods in need of a new future, H4H is the saving grace for most of these animals. It is also a place to find your true self as well. After 3 years of volunteership at Hope for Horses, it has changed my life. I get to spend quality time helping with the therapeutic riding program that ensure every horse and rider build confidence with their own struggles in life. I can't imagine my life without these wonderful people and horses at H4H! They truly make a difference in more ways than one!
