I adopted A wonderful dog from Hope Animal Rescue. I was so happy with the experience I am now also volunteering with them.
Hope Animal Rescue is an incredible organization and community of individuals who share a common love of animals. The care these volunteers give these animals is unparalleled. They never turn down a dog because of behavior or looks or medical needs. They find a way when no one else can.
Our experience adopting our pup from Hope Animal Rescue was nothing short of amazing. They handled our application quickly and suggested dogs we hadn’t even thought about based on our interests and life. Everyone was so caring through the process and continues to be an amazing resource and community for our family. I can’t say enough about this amaaaazing organization.
Fostering with Hope gave me my puppy fix before I was financially ready to adopt! It helped me develop the skills to become a great dog mom. When I was ready to adopt, Hope made a seemingly impossible situation, possible. I couldn’t imagine life without my snuggle pup.
Hope is a team of dedicated, big hearted volunteers who make a real difference in the lives of the pets they save and the lucky people who get to adopt them!
This group was tremendously helpful when we found a stray dog and placed her up for adoption. They were so helpful and even got her spayed for us. Great folks!
We took in a stray in May of 2019 and Hope Animal Rescue helped us vaccinate, spay, and home her. They were extremely kind, helpful, and generous. I loved working with this group and will continue to do so in the future. I highly recommend this rescue!
I adopted my dog Lana from Hope and I had a fantastic experience. The paperwork was thorough, she was well taken care of and loved as a foster and all volunteers and workers of Hope were extremely helpful and caring!
I have volunteered with Hope and I have adopted a dog as well. I can't say enough about this group of dedicated volunteers who make so many sacrifices to care for dogs who would be overlooked because of health or age issues that are not their fault. They work hard to pull dogs from local NC shelters who would not get a second chance otherwise, and are very thoughtful about pairing dogs with the right homes, and supporting those adopters along the way. If you are looking for a dog, definitely start your search with Hope Animal Rescue!
I both volunteered and eventually adopted though HAR. Not only did they give me a ton of support, but they’re very passionate about what they do. They deeply cared about saving the lives of these dogs and making sure they found good homes.
Hands down the best rescue in the area! Hope Animal Rescue is always ready and willing to take on pups that otherwise wouldn’t be adopted & gives them medical care and love they so deserve. Volunteering and fostering with Hope has been so rewarding and I suggest it to everyone!
Hope is a wonderful group of volunteers who put their heart and soul into helping animals and families find their ideal pet to love on. The rescue does an amazing job caring for the pets, and the fosters go through a vetting process to ensure the dogs and cats will all receive top notch care! I am a foster for the group and have thoroughly enjoyed it and working with this rescue.
I started volunteering/fostering with Hope Animal Rescue about three years ago. I have always loved animals and wanted to be an advocate for animal welfare.
My son adopted Oakley from Hope Animal Rescue and that was the spark that enabled me to follow my passion.
I started out volunteering at events, then temp fostering. I realized that the more pups adopted, the less pups euthanized. I then began fostering and enjoying the joy of placing these precious souls that had been cast aside into their perfect spots. There are so very many pups that need loving homes. I learned very quickly that I wanted to place these pups in their perfect spot, not just find a spot for them.
I was so impressed that Hope reached out to the seniors and special needs pups as well as the other pups.
My heart broke as I saw a pittie pup that had been cast aside with no regard. I watched his foster moms transform him into a healthy sweet loving soul, who found his perfect spot.
Then there are all the seniors that are cast aside as well as the special needs pups that are overlooked. Hope is well know in the shelter community for pulling these special pups and nurturing them and preparing them for their forever homes.
This non-profit Animal Rescue continues to support animal welfare on every single level.
I am so proud and fortunate to be part of this amazing organization.
Marcia Gregory here in the Bull City, Durham,NC. I have always had such a love and desire to care for animals especially pups. I'm in my 6th decade and I do not remember ever not having a pup in my life. After becoming semi-retired, I started looking for a way to do more for the neglected and unwanted pups. My son adopted a precious pup from Hope Animal Rescue. Although I had looked at several possible opportunities to volunteer my time for pups, I became very interested in learning more about Hope Animal Rescue. After reaching out on their volunteer page, I immediately received instructions. I filled out a volunteer application and attended my first event at the Durham Farmer's Market. I received a very warm welcome by all . That was over a year ago and I missed very few HAR events. I love sharing the stories of the different pups to all that come to our events. In the fall of last year, I extended into the "temp" foster role. Having three pups of my own, I did not thin I could actually foster pups...boy was I so wrong! I would temp foster for long weekends or holidays, whenever their fosters had to go out of town. Early in 2018 I had the privilege to be a real foster. His name was Toby, a 12 year old blind and deaf Yorkshire terrier. After having him a short while, I suspected he may have a urinary tract infection so I contacted my director. Immediately she made arrangements for a vet check. He did have a UTI and chronic kidney disease as well. My director also made arrangements for a kibble diet to address his kidney issues. Toby was adopted my a wonderful young couple who chose a special needs senior. If not for being pulled by Hope Animal Rescue this little guy would not have made it. Instead he is thriving in a loving home and getting exactly what he deserves.
In the last month, I have seen 2 pups on death's door (Sweet Pea and Fluff fluff), pulled from shelters, given extensive ICU vet care despite the cost and become precious adoptable pups.
What impresses me more than anything is the desire of this organization to give a second chance to the special needs, the seniors that have been dumped because they are old, and the precious neglected souls. Cathy Threadingham is the reason there is a Hope Animal Rescue. The integrity, the choices, the care and the love everyone in this organization displays exemplifies how this organization shines above all. It is definitely a 5 star.
I celebrated 5 years with this awesome organization last week and can’t think of a group I’d rather be a part of. HAR is full of some of the most dedicated, compassionate, and hard-working folks I know. HAR stands out amongst other animal welfare groups for its willingness to take on some very challenging cases and go the extra mile for some of the most vulnerable dogs in the shelter system.
I am proud to be a member of a team that is not only passionate and persistent, but constantly willing to reflect and improve month by month to better serve the dogs and humans in our community.
Attached is a picture of our 68th foster (and current adoptable) Zoe- one of the many wonderful dogs who is happy, healthy and ready for a forever home today thanks to the volunteers and donors at HAR.
I'm entering my fourth year of fostering and volunteering with Hope Animal Rescue and could not imagine a more awesome group and cause to support. Thanks to the dedication of the amazing team and our generous donors and adopters, HAR is able to save more than 300 dogs each year who would otherwise be at risk for euthanasia in our state's shelters. In addition to adoption events and fundraisers, HAR organizes educational events, dog washes and even an annual alumni event for all dogs adopted from HAR and their families. I love being a part of HAR!
I started fostering for Hope this year and it has been a great experience. I've had so much support from the other members for anything I need or questions I have. It's like joining a close group of friends and you get to help needy dogs at the same time!
I have fostered and adopted with this organization. The coordinators are very helpful! Can’t wait to foster with them again after getting my adopted pup (Lenny) settled in.
We adopted our dog from HAR last year, and it was a smooth, easy transition from when we applied, to meeting him, to ultimately adopting him! They are a wonderful organization with amazing volunteers. Highly recommend for pet adoption.
Hope Animal Rescue serves as one of the best organizations run by some of the most compassionate individuals that I have come to known. They are extremely well run on the back-end of operations of animal rescue efforts, but also on the front end in preparing animals for homes and homes for animals (as well as volunteer support!). While other organizations may balk at elderly or very sick dogs, Hope Animal Rescue sees the value of each life and takes these types of cases into the organization. This organization falls into the "exceptional" category of every non-profit area of evaluation and it has been such a privilege to be involved with and learn from them.
I have been fostering for Hope Animal Rescue for over 5 years now. The director is all about saving dogs; old dogs, sick dogs, mamas with their babies, mamas without their babies, babies without their mamas. The group goes above and beyond for all the unwanted, neglected, abused pups that are pulled from shelters, or dumped in someone's yard, or found wandering on the street. The fosters are amazing! Everyone does this AFTER work, during work, in addition to working full time. It's all out of love for these babies. And we try to educated our adopters, we don't just send the dog off to it's new home. We provide info on training, vets, food, etc. The whole group really wants what is best for the dogs.
I can't say enough about the rescue, the director, the fosters and the volunteers. Hope Animal Rescue is the best!
I have fostered several dogs and puppies through Hope animal rescue. They are a loving group whose purpose is to save animals in need, get them healthy and find them loving, forever homes. Cathy, Ashley and Audrey, as well as their team of fosters, go above and beyond the call of duty to rescue these animals, and provide them with the love and safety they need. This is a GREAT organization, and I am proud to be a part of it! Adopt your next family member and save a life!
I have been fostering for Hope for about a year now and can say that the volunteers behind Hope are some of the kindest, most selfless people who genuinely want the best for these dogs. I’m so thankful I found this rescue and got to see all the adorable faces come and go to their forever homes. Whether you’re looking to adopt, foster, or volunteer, I vouch that Hope is an amazing nonprofit to go with.
We had a wonderful adoption experience with Hope Animal Rescue. Bennie “BeepBeep” Boeing joined our family in mid-April, 2018. His foster family was incredibly responsive, arranging a first meet & greet right away! We felt, right away that Bennie (formerly Tucker - black & white #RatJack) would be a great addition, and his fosters arranged a next-day in-home visit. This sweet nugget has been home with us ever since!
Hope Animal Rescue offers compassionate, loving foster homes - which means a nice transition for pups, as they have been living “at a home” in real-life situations, many times with other pets, so you can learn about their temperment with others right away. We are so in love with little Bennie, and he loves his big sister, Lilly Chantilly! We highly recommend Hope Animal Rescue!
We adopted our Harper from Hope Animal Rescue almost two years ago and couldn't imagine our lives without her. She had the best foster parents who always got back to us in a timely manner and answered any questions that we had before we adopted her.
Hope Animal Rescue frequently takes in difficult medical cases and I love seeing all of their success stories. We've attended some of their fundraisers and I continue to donate now that we live out of state. They always take the time to send a thank you and let you know where the donation went to.
It is a great organization made up of caring people who want the best for each and every animal they take in. I've always been impressed with the dedication, organization, and transparency of the rescue. Like their facebook page and follow them on Instagram for the cutest pupdates :)
I have been involved with many good rescues but none come close to HAR. It’s one thing to save a dog and find it a home it’s another thing to take the dogs that needs major medical care that are older and hard to place. The animals get all the medical care they need while living in a loving foster home. When the dogs are ready for their forever home the potential adopters are throughly screened so they can be assured the dog going to its forever home - the very most important thing. The volunteers are amazing they open their homes and hearts to these animals and they operate as a fine tuned machine. Hope Animal Rescue is the very best I can’t say enough good and a 5 star rating doesn’t come close.
This awesome non-profit gave us a chance to heal with our awesome senior adopted cocker spaniel after we lost our first cocker baby to cancer the Christmas before. They work tirelessly to save senior and other special needs cases of pups around the state from over crowded shelters and foster them until the perfect forever homes can be found.
I chose to foster with Hope after seeing the compassionate and thorough care their animals receive while working the front desk at one of the vet clinics they use. They are always a joy to work with and volunteer for, so much so that my husband make long commutes to help with their mission!
It is an absolute joy to foster with a rescue that does so much. They pull from rural area shelters with less resources and chances for animals, they take in tough medical cases and many seniors, they host at least one adoption event a week-usually more, and they show love and great spirit through everything..
Before I began my fostering journey I adopted a loving high spirited cattle dog mix. They worked with me and my endless emails while looking to find the perfect companion for my family and our anxious shepherd mutt. They are now best of friends and our nervous girl was brought out of her shell by her new sisters craziness. Never did they seem put out by my barrage of questions. They truly want the best possible home for everyone.
I can not say enough good things about Hope. They are a blessing to the community as well as a selfless and inspiring second family to many.
I love Hope Animal Rescue! I've never worked with a more professional and caring group of dog lovers. The Executive Director and her team of volunteers, all of whom are unpaid, work so hard to give elderly, sick, and overlooked dogs a chance at a happy life. I've had positive experiences as both a foster and an adopter. Wouldn't recommend anywhere else if you're looking for a pup to add to your home in the Triangle area.
I am such a big fan of this organization, which is why I volunteer as a foster. Hope Animal Rescue is completely volunteer run, pulling overlooked and unwanted dogs from local shelters and giving them a second chance. After a few unsatisfying experiences with some other local rescues, both as a volunteer foster and as an adopter, I was really looking for a place that was professional and took the time to get to know every dog and its needs. Hope does that and then some. I am consistently impressed by the professionalism, expertise, and commitment of the other volunteers. They work hard to ensure that every pup brought into the organization finds the best forever home possible. I am so happy to be a part of this great nonprofit and to support its mission!
I came across Hope Animal Rescue early this year while I was looking to adopt a rescue dog. Their mission, passion, and dedication to rescue these animals is beyond anything I've come across. They put their heart into every single animal. They go above and beyond reasonable means to take care of these animals and place them in their forever homes. My experience rescuing Cory, (a senior Chihuahua) from HAR inspired me to become a volunteer and help their mission in any way I can. They are truly some of the most amazing people.
The volunteers here inspire me every day with their compassion and dedication to each other and to the dogs they save-they're hard working and make such a difference for the dogs in their care. I feel so lucky to have gotten the chance to work with them! Every foster I've met has been generous and patient with me, and so gentle with the dogs in their care. Every dog, even the seniors and medical cases, are a priority to them.
Hope Animal Rescue volunteers go above and beyond when it comes to pulling dogs from shelters and providing them with care. They frequently pull the dogs in need of costly medical care and older dogs who are often overlooked because of their age. They all have a passion for the animals and for what they do, and you can feel it when you talk to them. I rescued my first pup from there and they gave me all the information they had on him- the good, the bad, and the ugly. They are very upfront and want you to be informed prior to adoption. They’re adoption process itself is also great and you feel like it’s the right match prior to signing the papers. Even after the adoption, HAR has followed up and they’ve never hesitated to answer questions and offer advice. I wish I could give them more stars but 5 will have to do. They’re just outstanding.
Hope Animal Rescue is amazing. They matched me up with my best friend!
I was made aware of an older dog that was going to be put down because ownercdidnt want old dog. I contacted Cathy and she said would save him. A few months later he was adopted by wonderful family and lived out his life in love and luxury. I can never thank them enough.
Hope helped me find my sweet Cocker Spaniel senior in January of this year after my 14 year old was diagnosed with cancer last year and had to be put to sleep right before Christmas. It was so hard on my husband and I as well as our other senior dog and adopting another senior for our Chihuahua to have as a companion has helped us all to move on. They made the process so easy and understood the emotional aspect as well
I've adopted two fabulous fur babies from Hope. Cathy and the volunteers do an incredible job. I can't tell you how thankful I am for their mission and the hard work they do 24/7 to rescue needy and "unwanted" animals. They are truly incredible folks! Thank you for all you do and continue to make a difference one dog/cat at a time.
I can't say enough about Hope Anima Rescue and the fabulous work they do. From our amazing director, foster coordinators,,foster parents and volunteers. These wonderful people display acts of kindness and compassion like I have never seen before. The dogs and cats that are fortunate to be in the rescue receive the best medical care, training , are able to live in a foster home which makes them feel safe, confident and loved. There is a lot of careful decision making to ensure these pets will be placed in the right home for them and their new owners. As a foster I always have the support I need and when I need it from my director and foster coordinator. They are real gems and I wish more people would follow their example. This world would be a much better place.
My wife and I have been fostering with Hope Animal Rescue for the past 8 months, and we have nothing but good things to say about them. They show extraordinary care for every animal they take into their program, and they do a wonderful job of matching their pups with a home that will meet the needs of both the owner and the dog. All dogs in Hope's program receive spay/neuter services (when necessary), are properly cared for in a loving foster home, are socialized with both people and dogs, and receive monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Any potential adopter in the Triangle area should consider adopting from Hope!
I have volunteered and fostered with Hope Animal Rescue, and I couldn't rate them highly enough. The members of HAR work hard to make sure that dogs are treated extremely well, that fosters and volunteers have resources and support to ensure the best care, and that dogs are eventually adopted out to great families that fit well. Dogs have access to professional trainers, they get exceptional medical care, and the people at HAR are knowledgeable and thoughtful in their approach to animals. I think it says a lot that HAR is willing to take back a dog at any point after adoption if the dog didn't work out with the adopter for any reason. This shows that they care so much about these animals that they would rather take back a dog unexpectedly than have it end up back at a shelter. Further, Hope routinely takes in dogs that need expensive medical care, and dogs that are "challenging" breeds - dogs that other rescues have turned down. HAR values the lives of all dogs and is willing to work with dogs with behavioral problems, medical issues, seniors, or breeds that might end up being harder to adopt out. This is a wonderful organization!
