Never got back to me about my adoption application even after I had emailed and called a few times. The woman on the phone told me there was a concern with a previous surrendered dog that was a unique and sad situation, then tried to argue with me about how I could have kept the animal despite the situation (I adopted a very sick dog not knowing it), and ultimately ended up implying I was a liar. She said they’d let me know soon and I never heard another thing.

A lady who works for them tried to take my cat out of my yard. Right next to my front porch. I went outside & asked why are you trying to take my cat? She never told me she worked at hart she just left. After describing her vehicle to friends I found out who she was.

The best open in take no kill shelter ever. In a small community then do what countries cant do. The dedication & love for the animals is unlikely to be found anywhere.

I grew up on a farm in this area 50 years ago and until sherry and Hart came along stray dogs and cats were just shot or drowned or worse. She and the rest of her volunteers are just angels to the animals of Hoopeston and the surrounding area. I live 2000 miles away now but I still donate and visit when I come back to see about my farm
Or family!
I can't thank Sherry and her team for the huge difference they are making in the lives of animals .

Thanks to HART, I have my Curry, a 17lb chihuahua, dachshund mix. Curry is a little spitfire who demands that we get out of the house daily and I am grateful to her for that. HART let me adopt her even though they are in Illinois and I am in Alaska. My husband and I fell in love with her while we were in Illinois for a visit and were lucky enough that HART said yes to our application despite living so far away. This little girl brings much joy and entertainment to our lives. She provides the motivation to get out and explore the Alaskan wilderness and she is absolutely loving being an Alaskan adventure dog. Her small size doesn't deter her from keeping up, she's a hound dog at heart. After a long hike we come home and she burrows into her pita bed for a long nap and so do we. She completes our little family and it is because of HART that this is possible.

We adopted our kitten, Oscar from HART in February 2017. As he sat in the cage meowing and stretching out is paw as far as he could to reach, I knew he was the one for us. Since the first day we brought him home, he has been a wonderful addition to our family. We couldn't imagine being without him and if it had not been for Hoopeston Animal Shelter rescuing him from the streets, we would never have been able to bring him into our lives. This shelter has a wonderful dedication to animals, their welfare and finding them a forever home. We will be adopting our second kitten from them soon and I look forward to working with them again.

We adopted Cream Cheese from Hoopeston HART shelter. The rescue team was phenomenal, loving and helpful. Cream Cheese has been the highlight of our life, my husband and I. We are so thankful to the joy your shelter provided us! With $25 our life completely changed.
