Mission: Mission “We address unique legal needs of veterans through ongoing legal self help clinics, veteran oriented seminars, employment, entrepreneurship, and mentorship which empower and improve the lives of veterans and their families.” Vision To fill the unmet needs of veterans in San Diego County. Purpose To raise awareness about the need and requirements of veterans. To help veterans aid and assist each other. To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of veterans.
Results: 2013 Veterans Legal Clinic: Fielded over 685 phone inquiries, assisted approximately 135 Veterans face to face, and donated over 1430 volunteer hours of attorney and paralegal time in the past calendar year. Veterans Seminar Program: Fielded two VA Loan seminars on how Veterans can purchase a home. Seminar was hosted by Real Estate Broker, Betsy Heller and a Loan Broker. Conducted two Family Law seminars through the San Diego Continuing Education, free of charge for Veterans. Conducted one trust seminar on how Veterans can benefit from a family trust or estate plan. Veterans Mentorship Program: Assisted four veterans with updating their resumes and obtaining employment. 2012 Events and Entertainment: Donated $40,000 worth of event tickets to local veterans. Veterans Legal Clinic: Responded to 680 requests for legal services. Provided 585 hours of volunteer attorney and paralegal time. America Cares Project: Sent 590 premium care packages to troops deployed in Afghanistan. 2011 Veterans Legal Clinic: Responded to 670 requests for legal services. Provided 576 hours of volunteer attorney and paralegal time. America Cares Project: Sent 465 premium care packages to troops deployed in Afghanistan.

HRT is a hard working, heart in the right place, small non-profit helping veterans to avoid homelessness, get a job or start a small business. They are well networked with the vet and active duty communities in San Diego. The entire organization is run on volunteers.
