I love Home Share Oregon because it just makes sense. With so many people struggling to find affordable housing, and others with extra space they’re not using, it’s such a smart and caring way to bring people together.

It’s not just about finding a place to stay…it’s about building connections and helping one another out. I really appreciate how it tackles such a big issue in a simple, human way. It makes the city feel more like a community, where people look out for one another.

Honestly, it gives me hope. We need more of this.

HomeShare Oregon's mission to bring Home Providers and Renters together is starting to really take hold! It is exciting to see the changes that are being made and how they benefit the people served. I also love that they have HomeShare Online to use as needed, and even ensured that they are no longer a reverse mortgage company - instead now they are part of HSO's non profit!

I am very excited about Home Share's mission to promote home sharing because my wife and I have home shared before. It felt like a very strange idea at first, but the strangest thing by far was how easy and enjoyable it was. I hope Home Share can help many others experience the great benefits of providing affordable housing in exchange for a host of rich rewards.

This Non Profit is filling a much needed area in our housing market. I get 2-3 calls a week from an older adult who is living off of only social security and looking for a stable safe place to live and at this time there isn't many options for their budget. Since learning about Home Share Oregon, I've tried to educate both older adult home owners on the compassionate side of sharing their home along with those who are in need of a new place to call home. Being able to share one's own home with someone who is less fortunate is a small act we can do to show the loving kindness to our neighbors. Home Share Oregon has made it easy to encourage others to help with our housing crisis.

There’s no single solution to homelessness, but Home Share Oregon plays a vital role in preventing more people from becoming homeless. Homeowners with spare rooms, many of whom are mortgage burdened and in danger of losing their homes, are connected with low wage workers and others who cannot find affordable housing and are also in danger of falling into homelessness.

By utilizing existing inventory, Home Share Oregon’s program provides a cost effective means of housing people quickly and without the expense of building new housing. Home Share Oregon’s staff and board is deeply committed to helping those in need with compassion, care and understanding.

HSO is taking an innovative approach to the issue of housing affordability and availability. It's great to witness the success stories that have come out of the home sharing matches they've made. This approach builds community while also providing housing for those who need it.

Home Share is one of the solutions to the housing crisis that can be done right now. There is no waiting for buildings or funding. It is a win win for all involved. I have been sharing my house for a number of years and I love the company and energy they bring to the household.

Homeshare Oregon offers a win-win for homeowners who can use help meeting their expenses and renters who cannot afford the high rents now demanded in Portland and elsewhere in Oregon.

I own a home that is too large for one person. As well, the home expenses were more than I could carry on my own. I've always shared with someone, but finding a housemate was not easy until I found Home Share Oregon. The application helped me to think through what I wanted with a housemate. Those parameters then helped the program sift through potential matches. I had a strong intention when I set out on this journey to find someone that I truly could share my home with. I didn't want to divide the house into parts, I wanted it to be a holistic situation. When matches were presented to me, I listened to my intuition as well as studied and scrutinized their information. All of this resulted in a wonderful match with someone I can share dog walking with, meals, shopping, gardening, or just chatting at the end of the day. The angst I had about aging on my own as dissipated knowing that the Home Share Oregon program is out there. This program addresses so many societal needs around affordable housing, aging, support for younger people, and providing a sense of being of service.

Truly a gift to the community! Home Share Oregon is working to keep our community housed and happy by matching spare rooms in homes that have need and space with those seeking affordable housing. Brilliant! I'm so happy to contribute to an organization that is actually getting things done in our growing housing crisis - with compassion and experience. It is past time to see this co-housing option as viable and desirable, and I'm so thankful that this organization exists to give structure, safety and support around this effort. I will be keeping this in mind for myself, my family, and my friends and neighbors as we age in place.

Home Share Oregon far exceeded my expectations both in the service they provide and the dedication of their staff to their Vision Statement. Finding someone with whom to share one's home is fraught with ambiguity and anxiety. Home Share provides a match making service that streamlines and perspective roommate selection process. My home is my home and sharing where I live is personal and private. i found an almost perfect roommate. We share a mutual trust that continues to develop as we accommodate our lifestyles. No relationship is perfect, but there is great beauty and trust in talking out any issues. Home Share provided the screening, selection process to allow a very livable roommate relationship!

It's a success story, I can't believe how Home Share Oregon made it so simple to find just the right person that matches my requirements for a share person. The reading material given to me suggested what to include in my profile about compatibility for a person looking to be a Share Person. I was the 'Host' wanting to share my apartment with just the right person that met my qualifications. The program allowed me to read the profile of those people that responded to my profile allowing me the opportunity to get 'acquainted' and have further discussions about ourselves. I found the 'perfect' share person within 3 days, we've sent messages to each other, met in-person, with September 1st as move-in date.
I think the integrity of Home Share Oregon qualifying the people wanting to be a Share Person, with a back-ground check, gave me a satisfied feeling. I would encourage other people seeking a share person to trust Home Share Oregon, it's so easy. Jan
