Mission: Homeownership Center of Tacoma/Northwest (HCNW) expands homeownership options by building new and rehabilitating existing homes and offering these homes for purchase to low-income and moderate-income individuals and families. HCNW provides financial education and homeownership counseling to first-time homebuyer clients, assistance to create strong credit profiles, and guidance in selecting, financing, and maintaining their homes.
Results: In 2019, the organization added a dba name of Homeownership Center Northwest (HCNW) to reflect a strategy shift centered on expanding affordable housing throughout Pierce County. HCNW is focused on increasing its capacity to develop multi-family affordable housing units in response to the affordable housing crisis and in response to the needs of urban areas to increase density while increasing accessibility to transportation and other services. This effort aligns with City of Tacoma’s Affordable Housing Action Strategy (AHAS) objectives and the housing goals set forth in the One Tacoma Plan.
