I have watched this organization from the very beginning. From the days of driving the streets and finding actual people on the street in need and taking them to a hotel that agreed to work with the community and allow “credits” from individuals to pay for a safe sleep to actually becoming the pride owners of a hotel dedicated to those in need. Not only do they help get people off the streets, but they follow the old saying - Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime - and educate and break habits that keep them from success. Amazing to have witnessed this organization’s start to where it is now.
I love the homeless angels. Mike karl has a vision...to rid lansing area of homelessness..n to become a model for other communities..God bless them
When I finally had come to the point I didn't know where to go or even know about how to get myself back up.Mike had meet me at a function downtown directed me where to go I did what he asked of me and he put me up in a room I now have since then meet the love of my life there we got jobs together we now have a apartment together. Mike and the homeless angles have helped us to see things can change and get better ... Thank you to all of you for your help and support
I have volunteered with the Homeless Angels since the summer of 2014. It is a Great thing that Mike Karl and all the Homeless Angels do, and they do not Judge anyone, and treats everyone with with the up most Respect. That is what I Love about the Homeless Angels.
I have seen firsthand what this boots on the ground charitable organization can do. I myself have donated diapers to their diaper bank, clothing and food, room credits at the hotel. These donations make it into the hands of the needy immediately. This is done through social media and countless volunteers. They hold street stores where donated items are free. Not just clothing, but furniture, mattresses, many of which are brand new. They train the homeless, help them find permanent housing, jobs, assistance programs, medical care, psychiatric care, laundry days, pet clinics. They treat the whole person. The founder, Mike will personally seek out the needy and those he has been told about. He will make arrangements and go get them after working long hours at his full time job. The Homeless Angels concept is love in action. They accomplish this day after day.
I, and my family and friends have watched this organization from their very beginnings. We are local as well as in other states. Cassandra Karl is a friend of mine. This group has crossed SO many obstacles and continued to land running. What they have done for homelessness in my hometown continues to amaze me. Not only is it a beautiful thing to see SO many people realize they CAN have hope. But it has brought a community together in ways they never imagined. This concept should be grasped in all communities across the United States. I will always continue to share their success with anyone and everyone that will look and listen. The message is vital. Continue with your mission Mike Karl. My prayers are that it will be contagious.
The Homeless Angels are te real deal. Every dollar they get goes to helping the homeless in crisis, to finding homes for homeless individuals. Working with the Homeless Angels have made me a much better person. I don't trust easily and I totally trust the Homeless Angels. They have "Free Street Stores" and give away everything from shoes to refrigerators, no questions asked. When I asked the founder Mike Karl about people taking things when they don't really need it, his response was, "that's on them."They have "Free Laundry Day" at various laundry mats where anyone who comes gets free washing, free drying and free soap etc. When someone robbed the hotel where they house the homeless, Mike Karl said he was going to ask the judge if the robber could be released to him to help him get on his feet and away from crime. The Homeless Angels are family.
The homeless angels helped me with several items i was struggling with. Diapers, food and clothing. They restored my faith in humanity when I thought it was lost. I support the Homeless Angels and everything they are attempting to do for the homeless community in Lansing.
When homeless angles first started out, I had finally found a place to live, but unfortunately one day I realized I had no food at all for my fur baby. Even tho I had a place to live, I still had no income what do ever. I made a call to them to find out if they helped with pets. Without any hesitation at all Mike Karl came to my home in Eaton Rapids and gave me a bag of food for my cat. This man did not know me, but it did not matter. For that small bit I will forever help them as they serve others.
I feel.like it was God's plan to show me there are still others in this world with hearts like mine. If I ever move back to the area I will go right back to being an angel.
I have witnessed first hand all the hard work, love and time they put in to helping the homeless in our community. They work non stop to help with providing shelter, clothing, food and personal hygiene needs to the many low income and homeless.
My daughter's did a street walk with the group and they handed out blessing bags to people in need. We also have benefited from the Free store they have at the hotel. Giving back is so rewarding and getting help when we needed it is an amazing feeling. God Bless Mike and his Angels
I first learned of the Homeless Angels a few years back from posts that I would see on my friend Jody's fb page, never really had much thought of helping due to this false image that I had regarding people that were homeless. It wasn't until almost a year ago when I decided to take a visit to the Homeless Hotel...there I stood talking to one of the residents that was organizing the free store. The gentleman shared his story with me and stories of many others like him. That day I sat for hours researching all that I could find regarding these people called Homeless Angels...as I read all of the things that I found online, tears flowed from my cheeks...tears of so many different emotions. I immediately signed up to provide breakfast for the children on a Saturday morning. That day has changed my views, my heart and my plans forever. I am thankful that God has lead me to be part of such a wonderful outreach. I've seen nothing but love pouring out of the hearts and hands of many volunteers! Together through Christ a community unites in order to provide support for those that need a chance to get life turned around. A big shout out to Mike Karl, his fiancee, his mom and all of the core group for doing what you do! God Bless < TF
I love this nonprofit. They go over and above helping people and put all donations to use, giving to someone who actually needs it and is trying to help themselves. They do so much for those that need it the most and are well rounded with many services for those they are trying to help!
Homeless Angels is fantastic!! The thing I like about them is they don't "sell" the donations given to them, they give those items directly to the Homeless, thru their community funded hotel, Free Sidewalk Sales, and Public Walks. No one is getting rich off this like others do. Great, loving people that staff it as well.
