Mission: Homefirst offers permanent solutions to homelessness by providing transitional & permanent housing, homeless prevention assistance, and support services to strengthen families and build communities.
Programs: Housing and social services programs: transitional housing program - offers families a safe and affordable place to live for an average of 12 - 18 months in conjunction with support services. Permanent supportive housing - affordable homes made available to families who are living with a disability and are homeless in conjunction with support services. Affordable housing for homeless, low income families.
strengthening families & building community social service programs:homefirst family support center - a community-based, family-centered, neighborhood gathering place where any community resident can go for family support, information and services as follows:self-sufficiency & life skills opportunities - financial literacy, employment services, esl, ged, teen mentoring, grief & loss workshops, tax-preparation, & computer internet access. Parent education, parent/child enrichment activities, support groups, informational workshops and advocacy. Housing related services - access to transitional & permanent housing & homeless prevention services. Community gardening - plant & harvest 2-community gardens, produce distribution to 150 families, community building, health & nutrition education.
homeless prevention programs:homeless prevention/emergency assistance - emergency rental, utility, security deposit and food assistance to prevent families from becoming homeless.
