Historic Yellow Springs is such a beautiful and historic place that enthralls all who happen to chance upon it. As a steward that not only preserves the historic aspects, but also supports and provides an array of activities for the public (art shows, painting, theater, gardening, fox hunting & carriaging), HYS has truly embedded itself in the Chester County community, and contributes greatly to the enjoyment and education of all who pass through.
The area was rich in culture and history. There's a community of many different events at all times of the year and it was incredibly supportive and helpful during my Eagle project!
HYS offers a wonderful selection pottery and painting classes. I discovered the pottery classes a few years ago and found the community welcoming with talented teachers. HYS is a treasure for the area, it offers a beautiful wedding venue, historical programming, exhibits of painting and pottery and serene atmosphere for and afternoon walk. HYS a great resource for the area.
I work with a group who has used HYS for over 25 years - I've been with the group for over 6 years, and I love going to HYS twice a year for our workshops. It's a great facility, and they are great at helping us with our very specific and often off the wall needs for our workshops. Looking forward to going back next month!
We have worked with the team at HYS for almost 25 years! We love them and couldn’t be happier to hold our workshops there twice a year. There is so much character and history everywhere you look.
This is a wonderful place filled with history and beautiful gardens. It’s also a very memorable place to have your wedding. Surrounded in history and beauty, you just can’t go wrong!
Yellow Springs has been a part of my life since I was young -- I've attended summer camps, volunteered at events, been an art show patron, as well as worked as an intern in various areas. I've met so many lovely people and have made so many memories! The village is a magical place that deserves recognition!
We began our relationship 4 years ago with HYS supporting their annual art show. They have continuously grown their offering and have navigated the pandemic quite well considering a total shut down for a period of time. Beautifully maintained grounds, great art shows and spectacular event venue. Worth checking out and supporting!
The Village of Historic Yellow Springs and it’s unique 300 year history is an integral part of the Chester Springs community. Local equestrians & residents take advantage of the abundant opportunities to ride and hike the trails in and around Spring Hill and the Village - property which is maintained by HYS, Inc.
This area is charming, full of wildlife & native plantings and is a throwback to a simpler time. It truly is a jewel in Chester County. We are very fortunate to have this lovely resource in our backyard, accessible to so many, with HYS as it’s steward.
They’re is a wealth of history and culture to be found in Historic Yellow Springs! And to have the privilege to fox Hunt off of the property is incredible! I am so thankful to be able to continue with the the 150 year tradition of Kimberton Hunt Club in the Yellow Springs area!
Charming historic village tucked away in Chester Springs, PA with art studios, library, wonderful spring art show and herb sale, historic buildings and walking tour.
Experience the excitement of seeing riders and hounds go out for a fox hunt.
Quaint walking area.
Historic Yellow Springs is a gem in our own back yard. Kimberton Hunt Club has the privllege to fox hunt from the village and it is always a good run.
A beautiful area in Chester County supporting the arts! The Yellow Springs Art Show is the perfect event that showcases local artists in addition to the theater and other events throughout the year. This is a quaint and quiet town that truly promotes a sense of community. A wonderful place to explore on the weekend and you may even see some horses riding by adding to the unique atmosphere of the area.
A quaint village that I always take out of town guests to stroll through the trails and gardens! Beautiful and quiet but close enough to the hustle and bustle to not be a far drive. Thank you to all the volunteers who keep the grounds and buildings looking great!
Beautiful location with a rich, culturally significant history. Thank you for the work that you do to keep this amazing place alive and for supporting the arts community!
Historic Yellow Springs - keep it on your radar! The perfect venue for intimate special events, a wonderful "nook" for art and culture classes, and offerings of food, theater and community. This organization puts a splash of love in everything they do. If you are looking for a lovely time, without city crowds and parking, this is it! Looking to impress out-of-town guests? Spend quality time with someone special? HYS will not disappoint!
A beautiful part of the community in which I live! Staff and volunteers are always willing to help and assist. I enjoy the opportunity to ride my horse through the historic village and woods surrounding the buildings. An asset to Chester County!
Stellar art shows, beautiful grounds and programmings and a fabulous volunteer work force - HYS has a healthy future ahead!
Save the old and gold for our children. I appreciate what this Non-profit is doing to keep old historical structures and towns alive! Thanks
There is always something interesting and creative going on at this special location. As soon as you approach the little village, your countenance is lifted. It's not just a lovely place full of amazing history, but a creative and artistic atmosphere enticing those who visit to also be creative. The volunteers and employees have class and great pride in their community at Historic Yellow Springs. They are respectful of adults and kids and very eager to make us all feel welcome. The history of Yellow Springs, the art community and education for adults and kids better all who are apart. Upon departure, after turning down the street toward the city, it's always "back to reality. "
Yellow Springs, Inc has surpassed its previous rating, which was excellent. It has become very versatile and creative in its programming, demonstration and exhibition of arts, its historical offerings to benefit public culture, botanical and horticulture education, crafts appreciation and enhanced visitation and tourism for the County of Chester, Pa. It maintains its
infrastructure and presentation to the public in an award winning fashion.
I strongly endorse 5 Star rating for this historic, cultural, and arts institution.

I have gone to Historic Yellow Springs on various occasions and reasons. I have found this setting to be quite amazing and appealing. Quaint village setting, it maintains its rural and historic appeal that greets the visitor, or, one studying fine arts, crafts, history, and more.
What makes this possible is its "perpetual stewardship,"which enhances and maintains its infrastructure, physical plant, and character.
I have always found the culture , atmosphere, administrators to be quite knowledgeable. professional, and always feel like a welcomed guest.

Runs excellent programs very frugally that deliver value to a variety of community members via innovative adaptive reuse.
I was completely unfamiliar with this organization until about a year ago. They do an fantastic job for the artists and community. The place itself is an amazing historical treasure of our area. Gala & art show is most professional fund raiser
Historic Yellow Springs has done an outstanding job in promoting their mission. Their 2019 Art Show was well received by their local community, as well as others who travel from surrounding states for this annual show. The quality of the art was fabulous, with something for every taste and every budget.
The organization reached out through social media as well as print ads and billboards. It was a well planned and managed campaign. The management team successfully enlisted volunteers to assist with the event while keeping up with their day-to-day operations and other events that were held in the village, such as weddings.
Historic Yellow Springs is a true gem in our area. It's not only an excellent venue for wonderful events, such as the annual art show, the fine arts and crafts show, the holiday stroll, and others, but it's a wonderful place to host weddings and other functions. The grounds are gorgeous, the history is amazing, the art classes/workshops are numerous and first rate. Great place to visit and learn what came before us.
I enjoy volunteering with the art community at Chester Springs Studio because everyone is friendly and welcoming. The facilities are excellent and the studios are equipped to encourage artistic growth.
Historic yellow springs has been an important part of my life for many years. It has provided a sense of community for many potters, myself included. It has also offered a connection to a history that is so rich and interesting in Chester County- a welcome timeless village that is about as peaceful as any place one could go to, where inspiration comes easily for whatever artistic endeavor one is participating in. It is the kind of place where it is easy to volunteer for whatever is needed, just to be there. It is a treasure!
I love this place. Until several years ago, I didn't know it existed, until invited by a friend. Historic Yellow Springs is a beautiful building in an equally lovely and quaint neighborhood. Having attended several events, I decided to sign up to volunteer at the facility. Though I have only done this 3 times, for 2 different events, I met members and volunteers who all share the same passion in bringing awareness to Historic Yellow Springs. I am happy and extremely proud of this nonprofit and value my affiliation with them.
I've been involved with Historic Yellow Springs in various capacities over the past four years, and have loved every minute of my experience with them. From weddings, to the annual archaeology camp to volunteering at the infamous art show(s) over the years, each experience has been do different and yet so meaningful. Truly a living village, every facet of HYS' history is carried out in its day-to-day activities, and the public is encouraged to become a part of the community here. All in one hour, you could step foot on the grounds and learn about local history through artifacts and a hands-on tour, register for a class taught by a locally renowned artisan or simply get lost in the beauty and splendor that the property offers.
I am an American living in France whose second love happens to be Historic Yellow Springs :
Cross Pickering Creek on the venerable stone bridge and you’re a time traveller, for just ahead is where the road splits, but whichever way you head you are sure to succumb to the delightful charms of Historic Yellow Springs.
Robert Frost would likely point out that you’ve chosen the magical « road not taken » one that witnessed Revolutionary War wounded arriving for treatment at the hospital whose foundation walls still stand where General Washington’s troops once sought solace and healing in a woods « lovely, dark and deep ».
The filtered sunlight reveals not just historic clapboard inns and cozy homes but peaceful natural glades and shaded ponds where you might well spot a herd of deer, some impish raccoons or perhaps a pheasant. Small wonder that Historic Yellow Springs is such a haven for writers and artists.
The artistically inclined have flocked here for over 40 years in seeking to further their education in fine arts and ceramics at the renowned Chester Springs Studio, successor to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Country School and a rare gem that remains a popular regional center of education, arts and culture.
At Chester Springs Studio, the accomplished faculty nurtures and inspires students to be at their creative best as artists and as individuals committed to their craft and this exceptional community.

Beautiful venue for any event along with historic charm. Even better to be a part of the pottery and painting classes that are offered at Chester Springs Studio. Great, nurturing environment. Hidden gem to be appreciated by all.
My wife and I held our wedding reception 25 years ago in this incredible village at the building which is now called the Washington. The building and village are even more beautiful now then they were then.
This unique enterprise serves both cultural and historical purposes, and also operates as a lovely venue for weddings, meetings and other events. Educational opportunities for children and adults abound in its highly developed art school (fine arts, ceramics and more), which also has deep historic roots -- hence the street address. Its annual art shows, ceramic kiln pavilion, art classes and other regular events draw attendees from a wide region to the beautifully kept grounds. As a resident of the area, I find it adds such value to the region, and appreciate the rich history of the village that it preserves from pre-colonial times through the present day.
I have been in the Chester Springs area for over 20 years. Historic Yellow Springs is a hidden gem that provides pleasure for the whole family. Both of my daughters grew up taking art classes in the Chester Springs Studio. I myself have also taken adult fine arts classes there as well. We have two family artists who participate in the Annual Art Show each year. BUT, did you also know that the Village of Historic Yellow Springs dates back before the days of Washington? There are beautiful trails to walk on, springs that are on the property that were once used as a spa. In addition, the backdrop and buildings are one of the most beautiful venues to host a wedding or special event. Historic Yellow Springs is a very special place, and I am so grateful that this amazing Village is open for everyone to enjoy in their own unique way.
I have been involved at Historic Yellow Springs for a number of years. I was drawn in by the spring art show and have stayed because of the wonderful people, events, and classes. As someone who cares about the arts I have found a home at HYS. I love not only visiting the events but have made many friends working on the various events. It has been and continues to be an extremely fulfilling experience.
I believe many people are drawn to Historic Yellow Springs Village to experience the
history and preservation of it's simplicity. The art and clay studios provide a valuable common thread for the novice or experienced artist to share their knowledge. It is a small treasure driven by professional artists, a dedicated staff, and volunteers.
As a painter, I find Yellow Springs a wonderful and warm place to paint. The
quality of the teachers is extremely high. I have painted a long time, therefore
have experienced many teachers. The employees are very helpful and
go out of their way to make the students comfortable. I also participate
in the Yellow Springs Art Show and find it to be one of the highest
quality shows.
