Mission: Hacer's mission is to provide the minnesota latino community the ability to create and control information about itself in order to affect institutional decisions and public policy. Hacer identifies research needs and delivers quality research products that strengthen the latino communities of minnesota. We do so through collaborative research efforts that are timely, methodologically sound and culturally appropriate.
Programs: Austin area minority business project. Hacer continued working in partnership with the latino economic development center, immigrant law center of minnesota and the lindquist & vennum pro-bono team to provide comprehensive economic development legal services to immigrant and minority business owners and employees in austin, mn. Legal services include bunisess technical legal support and education, immigration and legal services, holistic pro-bono legal services and longitudinal, holistic evaluation and outcome analysis. The grant was renewed and plan to work along the year of 2018.
being latino in red wing, minnesota. In colaboration with hispanic outreach, in red wing, minnesota, hacer developed a survey in order to identify the main characteristics that the latino population in the city could use as part of its own definition. The main goal was the desingin of a leadaership training for the latino community representatives, who eventually will work with other economic, politic, and law enforcement leaders that are looking for latinos to feel integrated to the whole community of red wing.
latino youth leadership academy: leaders of tomorrow in july 2017. The aim of the academy was to foster leadership and civic responsibility in local latino students through skill-building exercises, student-led discussions and activities about the educational needs and barriers that latino students face. Through this program hacer wanted to incentivize students to develop and consolidate their leadership skills in an environment where they could share different aspects of their cultural backgrounds.
