I don't know what you folks are up to, there are many issues that need to be addressed by your organization. You should start with how many people do not have basic necessities in India, focus on the cause. Second, strata of groups where based on your birth you are limited in society. Third, focus on working together as Indians regardless of religion and groupings. I don't see that as an initiative. Remember you are in America and there can and will be legal ramifications for your actions.

The Organization functions with American Hindus who are well educated and know how to function within the system. They know how to get results within the bounds of the American laws and fight back ignorance of our great religion.

Hindu American Foundation does excellent job of clarifying misunderstandings and misperception about Hindy religion and traditions. It also defends intentioanl and unintentional agressions against Hinduism. It also raises voice against agression in the form of conversion often disguised as social service. It instills self respect in younger hindu generation.

This is the only Hindu organization that I know off with the energy and enthuism of the 2nd generation Hindus. They use the modern high tech and political tools to keep the Hindu religion alive in a predominantly Chrisitian country. During the short period that they have been in existence, they have done some very impressive works. Examples include: textbook correction, pamplets and brochures to correct misconceptions/misinformation about Hinduism, Hindu human rights violations report, etc.

Having worked in the environmental for over 30 years, I have noted that many of the Hidu rituals are not human helath and environmental friendly but still we blindly follow them. Any progressive religion must keep with times in order to appeal to the newer generations. Launching an effors to bring this awareness and to suggest alternatives will be an effort in that direction. This may be a worthwhile effort for HAF to pursue.

Hindu American Foundation is working very hard to rectify some of the most miss understood aspects of Hinduism. Hinduism is a way of life and many cultures and traditions merged and a great religion is formed. In order to give true picture of Hinduism, HAF is relentlessly working to correct some issues like Dalits of India and Kashmir Pandits for their rights. Younger generations are very grateful for the work they are doing. HAF is the only organization that is working hard with other Jewish communities on some of the global issues. Now they are focussing to give support to Romas of Europe. We need more like HAF which are unbiased in their views.

Hindu-American Foundation is a much needed organization which finally has come into being. Many times I felt frustrated seeing wrong depiction of Hinduism in books, newspapers, TV, Movies, Radio etc. and wished some public relation entity was there to handle it. This nonprofit is trying to do that from lobbying on Capital Hill to take legal action during California Text Book controversy.

Still much more is needed to be done. Lack of funds can be overcome by tapping into energy of young volunteers which are plentiful in young Hindu American community. Foundation should pay more attention to community outreach.

HAF members worked hard with other Hindu organizations in representing Hinduism during the California Textbook Review. I have been following them after that and I must say that they're doing very professional work. HAF campaign of "Taking Back Yoga" has helped it gain quite a lot of respect of the community at large. Good work and continue doing it.

Hindus need to know how rest of the world do business in any given field including 'religion'. HAF knows how to bring the issues to the right place in the right way in any given country/organization. NY TIMES article on YOGA is one example of HAF's sincere work, when some individuals tried to patent YOGA contents etc. Also their logical representation in front of California Board of Education reflects the quality of work they do.
Recently when I needed some clarification about bumper sticker

Hindus in general and particularly those in the United States, are not very articulate about explaining their faith to the curious, or defending their faith against the malicious. In other words they have very few organized advocates.

HAF does just that, and that too on a shoe-string budget. I am very, very impressed by their advocacy for Hindus in America.

But I am doubly impressed by their foresight and vision to also take on the challenges to Hinduism from within, such as casteism, untouchability, etc. Their eyes wide open, minds wide open and arms wide open approach is a refeshing change from the often narrow advocacy of other so called Hindu groups.

I heard of this organization with the take back yoga campaign, and then learnt about their previous activities from their website.

As an American Hindu, I am often frustrated and angered with the patronizing and illiterate portrayals of our ancient religion in American culture and even academia. I am happy to have finally found an advocacy group that wants to correct these mistakes, and call attention to abuses that take place against Hindus and their religion by speaking up for Hindus everywhere in a rational, professional, informed way by which understanding can be increased, and bridges can be built.

After viewing their videos and seeing the founders speak intelligently, passionately, and professionally about these issues, I am convinced that they are superb ambassadors for our faith, and am happy to support their activities.

I have great appreciation for HAF activities in the area of public policy and journalistic pathways. The HAF core workers are dedicated young persons of Hindu Faith and I respect all of them for taking time out from their busy shedule to work for HAF. They represent Hindu Voice in Washinton, D C to our public servants and representatives. It is unfortunate that there are many individuals who describe great Hindu Philosophy in a very negative light and HAF challenges them with the correct view of Hindu Philosophy and ideals.

What HAF has done for the cause of Hindus in America is simply amazing. I really admire their effort to come down heavily on the California education system which had been misrepresenting Hindu Dharma to such an extent that students felt ashamed to call themselves Hindus.
HAF has also been involved in raising voices after those who try to defame Hindus under a false pretext. I wish they keep on continuing all the good work and I support them completely.

From then until now, we have been to their programs, fundraisers and have been reading their newsletters, etc. They are professional, balanced in their approach and friendly. Every decision that they take seems to be a sound one. The kind of difficult projects they have taken up and executed in time shows their commitment to their cause. HAF has done an amazing job in advocacy work for the Hindu community in the US. They are truly "next gen" and are helping explain what Hinduism is all about and to provide a voice to the over 3 million Hindus in the US. They have taken on religious extremism and have defined a range of issues, spurring healthy debate within our community.

My wife and I are proud and honored to be donors to HAF and would encourage others to donate as well as HAF is almost entirely reliant on individual donations rather than corporate or endowment support.

I first became active with the Hindu American Foundation back in 2006, when I was invited to join them at their Annual DC Legislative Day, advocating for a wide range of Hindu American issues in congressional and governmental offices. Through that, I learned the power of advocacy and began to understand how important it was to have sustained interaction with policy-makers so that they understood your viewpoint on any issue.

HAF has a professional staff along with a national team of volunteers (including myself) that has created a fledging institution that can continually advocate for Hindus in America, instead of relying on ad-hoc efforts. It is definitely worth of support.
