Hike-It-Up is an awesome organization with an amazing founder, I volunteered for Hike- It- Up this past weekend, it was honestly one of the best experience ever. We were able to be hands on and help to cook and prepare food, as well we got to get crafty. It was a very touching experiencing that I am looking forward to being apart of again.
I've been supporting Hike's events/organization for many years and I can truly say that the organization just keeps getting better and better. Serving more and more people, organizing more and more volunteers, Hike Mkhoian's Hike-It-Up has become one of the most effective non-profit volunteer organizations in the Valley. In a former career I was a Director of Volunteers for both the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. I know what the challenges are to recruit, train, and organize volunteers to manage events. Hike has become a master. He's organized, efficient, and remarkably able to make all his events a positive, pleasant experience for all his volunteers.

I was a Director of Volunteers for Hathaway Children's Services, the American Heart Association, and the American Red Cross and I can truthfully say that Hike puts me to shame. He proves that one person...just ONE PERSON!...can make a huge difference. He rallies individuals, organizations, and communities to come together to raise money, donate goods, provide (and cook!) food...all to help children and others in need. This is an organization that is very, very worthy of your support. Not one dime, not one minute of time is wasted here - it all goes directly to the recipients. We helped prep, cook and serve breakfast today at a battered women's homeless shelter and it was such a rewarding experience! The women loved that we showed up to do this event and they love Hike It Up for always coming back to cook wonderful meals for them! This was such an awesome thing to be a part of and I thank Hike It Up SO much for being such a great example and for being so committed to giving back to the community! I joined Hike it Up this past weekend to make breakfast for 100 disabled individuals housed with Valley Village. This was well organized, everyone was super nice and the event was lots of fun. It was a great way to start off my weekend and I can't wait to join the crew on more volunteer excursions.
I have been volunteering with Hike it up for the past 1 1/2 and I have had the opportunity to help others that are in greater need. Hike it up is such a great organization helping out in the community and bringing hope and putting smile on people's faces. Hike it Up is an awesome organization who has no limits on who it helps. I have helped with cooking a meal for a shelter with Hike and other great volunteers, Hiked Griffith Park a couple of times for great causes. The founder of Hike it Up runs his organization with heart. I only wish I had more time to do more events.

Hike it up has offered me the ability to take part in many community events that lend to the betterment of individuals and contribute to various causes that contribute to society. I like that at each event I have met so many different people and families who are as invested in lending to a cause as I am and whom have an interest in creating a better environment. I really enjoy that at most events you are interacting with kids , families and agencies that are in need of help from others. Hike It Up is an outstanding organization. I have had the opportunity to take part in a variety of grassroots, community based events provided by Hike It up. What I like most is that I am able to be in my community making a difference with other families and individuals together. I have met many and noticed how easy it was to just take some time and create a change that will improve the lives of others in need. Hike it Up provides wonderful opportunities for adults and children to volunteer to help in various ways within their community. My 4 year old son and I stuffed backpacks that were going to homeless children. It was an easy and fun way to introduce him to the concept of volunteerism. Hike is an extremely passionate and generous man who is always thinking of others before himself. He thinks of creative ways to help those in need while making it easy for those who would like to give to others. Whether we are at a Hike it Up event, or donating toiletries, clothes or blankets at one of the drives, we are always delighted to participate and thankful that Hike It Up makes it so easy to do so.

Hike It Up is an amazing organization serving the needs of homeless men, women and children in the greater Los Angeles area. What I like most about this organization is how our efforts have an immediate impact. When Hike brought volunteers together to make lunches for the homeless, for instance, those lunches were loaded up into vehicles and immediately distributed to those in need. It was a simple and direct way to make an immediate impact. My kids were so proud of the lunches they helped make and it was a great way for them to start out in what I hope will be a life long endeavor to help those in need and give back to the community they live in. Equally as important as the immediate impact Hike's work has, is the long term support Hike It Up provides for homeless shelters and individuals - providing supplies for many basic needs on a monthly basis, so that the men, women and children in these shelters can focus on moving forward rather than on whether or not they have a warm blanket or a backpack to keep their schoolwork in. Furthermore, when I am unable to volunteer my time, there are many opportunities to donate money for very specific purposes. I never have to wonder if my donation is being used for administrative costs or overhead. I know that if I donate $10 to provide a backpack with school supplies for a child in need, that somewhere in the LA area, sometime very very soon, a child in need will have that new backpack with school supplies. It's as simple as that. I think that may be the single most important thing about Hike It Up. With his organization, Hike has taken on a very large, very complicated and very overwhelming problem and has made it very easy for volunteers and/or donors to get involved. Instead of seeing the problem and wondering, "How on earth do I even begin to make a difference," you go on a hike and provide basics, you volunteer your time and distribute food, or you donate a bit of money to provide much needed supplies. It's as simple as that. That's how you start. That's how you make a difference. Thank you Hike, for giving me and so many others the opportunity to so easily get involved.

I had a wonderful time volunteering for Hike It Up. Hike has a wonderful personality and is very kind hearted. I've been to many of his hiking events and he has led the group with excitement that you don't even feel that you went on a hike. He collects many donations that day that his jeep is filled to the brim. He has had many events to feed the homeless and he knows how to interact and is very social. Everyone has a great time and the day passes by quickly. I've been to one of his events for people who are mentally or physically disabled and when you go to one of Hike's events you will realize that everyone is happy, dancing, and talking. Overall I'm pleased with his events and I had a great time, learned, and gain more experiences/memories.
This is a great organization run by a great guy with like-minded friends and families -- thank you for all of your hard work!!!
Hike it up is an amazing little non-profit. It's powered by Hike M. A friendly fellow who often will give needed items to the homeless by taking up donations. Sometimes the donations are brought for wonderful hikes he leads through our local mountains and canyons. When volunteering for Hike it up, we have prepared lunches including sandwich, fruit snack and water. Alongside many cheerful volunteers. Then going to Skid-row and handing those bagged lunches to whoever wanted one.

Hikeitup for many years has helped to make positive changes in the community. I had the privilege of volunteering for Hikeitup and have helped make a small positive change on my part. I have assisted painting the LA Youth Shelter, cleaning , landscaping. Hikeitup also organized fun physical activities with the youth and anyone from the community. Most fun for me was the Christmas 5k Marathon Hikeitup had organized with the homless youth. Amazing experience! Hikeitup is well organized non profit and always active with new creative ideas to make positive changes in the community.

"Hike It Up" not only provides a way to give back to the community by collecting donations for homeless people, but it also is a great way to discover, or rediscover, numerous hiking adventures in and around the Los Angeles area. A few months ago, I joined Hike and about 20 other people for an amazing hike around Griffith Park. I felt great because I was sweaty, saw some beautiful views, and was able to donate some items from my house that I no longer needed. Hike is a very knowledgeable hike leader, and I felt I was in good hands as I challenged myself to go further than I thought I ever could. "Hike It Up" is a spectacular organization. I hope it gets the support it needs to continue to give back to our community! Way to go, Hike!

Last weekend, I went on my first hike with Hike It Up. Not only did I get to clean out my closets and give to a very worthy organization, but I was able challenge myself on an incredibly rewarding hike. Sharing his fruit, water, trail mix, enthusiasm, and extensive knowledge of the trails, Hike led us on a great adventure. He took us on trails I never would've had the courage to attempt solo, and yet I found myself standing at the top of the world and feeling every moment of awesomeness. What a fantastic way to spend a Saturday--making new friends, giving to charity, breathing fresh air, and challenging my fitness. I will definitely be back for more.

I just helped a back to school drive with Hike it up for the first time. The mommy and me meetup group and I felt so good helping such a generous cause as helping homeless children to stay in school. we donated many school supplies and it was so easy even for a buys mom of 2 preschoolers like me. All I had to do was drop off our large box to a coffee house and knew it was in good hands. Thank you Hike for putting together such great drives for people in need. I will be helping and asking other parents to help as much as possible. thanks again.
Hike is a dear friend and ex-coworkers of mine always have admire his passion for children and helping others. I yet have to experience a hike with him and the great work he does. The thing that impresses me the most about Hike it Up is the family atmosphere. All of the volunteers work together like they have known each other for years. I was so impressed by the level of collegiality that I have also involved my infant daughter who not only loves helping out, but being treated like an equal.

Hike it up is a great organization that promotes people to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Its leader, Hike, does a great job in exploring new venues and trails that are not as common to others. He permits the groups to go at their own pace and makes it fun. I've been to Bronson Canyon and Griffith Park Observatory hikes with the group. I look forward to more adventures!

Hike, the organizer, works closely with the groups served by Hike It Up and gets donations of goods, services and funds directly to those agencies. Every volunteer I have encountered has had fun with Hike It Up... from lunch bag stuffing to hiking to the Hollywood sign there is always lots of laughter and positive energy flowing. Hike is a master at touching people's lives and helping them to see the benefit of even small donations becoming a force for good in the SFV. The activities are varied to allow for the greatest inclusion of those interested.

A great organization that is truly engaged in a "boots on the ground" way. Volunteers can meaningfully interact with the beneficiaries of Hike It Up's efforts; donors always get a recap of how an event went, including measurable info (like the number of at-risk teens who participate in an event, or the number of backpacks distributed to homeless kids), rather than a canned thank you note. This is community activism and humanitarianism realized, not just idealized.

Before Hike It Up, I never really volunteered before. But since finding out about it, I helped cook for a local shelter, cleaned up a random littered street and planted trees and painted a women's shelter. Hike It Up is a great organization if you're looking for volunteer opportunities or you can just go on a hike where you can bring a donation of some kind.

Hike It Up is a wonderful non-profit that brings awareness to many different causes within our community. H.I.U. hosts many activities for several different organizations in need of support. This organization is a fantastic way to get children/teens involved in their community, because the activities are suited for all ages. I am especially inspired by Haig, as he is motivated and truly cares for all those in need. Hiag, through Hike It Up, puts his desire and drive to make a difference into action.
Hike and his volunteering events are creative, inspiring and fun. I love that he does so many child appropriate activities. There is no organization better suited to teach children the joy of giving back from such a young age. Hike is a phenomenal role model for all of us and his excitement for what he does is contagious.
Hike has created an organization filled with hardworking, kind, and generous people from all demographics! My first experience with this group was at Hollywood Arts (http://www.hollywood-arts.org/) a non-profit school that teaches arts education to homeless and foster youth. Hike organized one of the biggest and most efficient groups to help paint and renovate Hollywood Arts. It was such a fun and rewarding experience! At the end everyone took pictures and exchanged contact information to keep in touch. This is a rare gathering of an effective mission and highly dedicated and motivated volunteers. So rewarding and fun! Hike It Up is a great conduit and facilitator of efficient volunteering!
Haig is an incredible teacher and motivator. I love his passion to help people. He makes it really fun to be involved.
I've worked with Haig on some of his projects since last year. He is very organized, dedicated and extremely nice... He makes it fun and it never feels like work.
Hike It Up is a great non-profit organization! The last volunteering event we went to for the Hollywood Arts was very fun and well organized. We are teaming up with Hike It Up for a cooking at a homeless shelter event, and Hike was super helpful in organizing the event.
I love to participate with Hike It Up both personally and with the group home that I work with. I love the energy and passion for his cause that it makes me happy and gives me hope that there are a lot of people out there making a difference. I see Hike as a gift that keeps on giving. His compassion and thoughtfulness has our girls from our group home unforgettable experiences that they take with them for the rest of their lives. All I can say is THANK YOU and see you next time.
This fall, Hike It Up put together a special Thanksgiving dinner for over 112 men and women with developmental challenges plus their aides. Volunteers arrived early and made the turkey, stuffing, cookies and pies from scratch. They plated and served more than 200 meals including salad, entree, 2nd's, dessert, and even more dessert. Everyone there felt like they were king and queen. After dinner we all danced together. Hike It Up has the most wonderful volunteers who really care about the people in the community. At Valley Village, it can be hard to find things in the community for our folks to participate in and Hike It Up provided this very special dinner and made inclusion very easy. Everyone is looking forward to getting together again!
What a great organization serving the youth in our community. The Kohl's Cares for Kids program was delighted to participate in a volunteering event with Hike it Up through our Associates in Action program. Hike It Up is the real deal. Haig MkHoian, the founder of the charity, truly walks the walk. He is so passionate about helping others - his dedication and sincerity are palpable. He sets quite an example. Me and my family are blessed to be apart of Hike It Up and the work that Haig is doing.
My name is Autumn Leal and I have helped with one of the cooking events for a women's shelter. I brought my 11 year old son and my 9 year old daughter to volunteer time also. It was a great positive experience for all three of us. my kids were very proud that they were able to help make a difference in the community. I am always hoping that Hike It Up expands their teritorry so my family can have more opportunities to volunteer. Hike It Up is very passionate about helping the community in many different ways to benefit as many people possible. This organization helps school children, homeless shelters, homeless people, and other non-profit organizations. This is a worthy cause and I encourage anyone looking for a fun volunteer opportunity to give Hike It Up a try.
I've done hikes with Hike It Up for over a year and I always have a great time. There's always a way to help no matter your age, income, or time. It feels good to help & be appreciated for your effort. Your make a better community by helping people in so many walks of life. Hike is amazing & such a warm heart. After meeting him your compelled to do more because you can feel that his intentions are true and honest. A great organization to have fun and feel good about helping the community.
Hi My Name is Donna Russo, Sales Manager at the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel. I have participated as a volunteer with Hike it up!! This organization is fantastic and they help in so many ways. I have helped them with the following. Collecting Canned Food with the employees of the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel, Participating in clean up day with Hike it up and the Kiwanis club Entertainment Group Studio City, Donated furnishings to the Shelter. Hike it up has donated several boxes of art supplies to the High School I voluteer at (Champs Charter High School for the Arts) This organization does so many things for the community!!
