Mission: Hetland youth hockey association (hyh) is a volunteer-based youth hockey organization based in new bedford, massachusetts. Hyh was formed in 1984 to provide children with the opportunity to participate in the organized game of ice hockey. Hyh teaches and promotes ice hockey by emphasizing teamwork, good sportsmanship, and the competitive spirit. Coaches and parents of members volunteer time to provide additional guidance and instruction so that the children learn the sport of hockey appropriately for maximum enjoyment and safety.
Programs: Hockey association - traveling teams play through the south shore region of massachusetts, including the cape cod region and the greater boston area. Teams also compete in local hockey tournaments which allow the young players to forge stronger relationships with teammates as they spend this significant amount of time with each other. Tournaments generally occur during holiday weekends, allowing the players time to see and experience various part of the state and the new england area, an opportunity that is usually not afforded to many children in the area.
