This organization is much more than a place to play golf, but instead, it’s a community of Heroes that have served their country. Having my Navy Veteran dad play in this league, I have seen the benefits it provides. He has always enjoyed playing golf, but now, having a place that brings him together with other service members, sharing stories about their experience and encouraging each other through their struggles both on and off the course, has been really good for him. There are a number of stories of how this organization has helped struggling Veterans, but most of the time you would never know because of all the joy it brings to this community.
Under the leadership of CEO Holley Mackey, this organization continues to thrive and grow every year. It is an honor to be a part of it and I highly recommend setting up a time to learn more about the benefits of this league of Heroes United together.
I met the founders of this nonprofit very early in their journey. It was just 3 people who were eager to help struggling veterans however they could. Holley worked in mental health counseling for a long time and was eager to help those struggling with their mental health. She wanted to get veterans out of their shells, making friends, and having fun on the weekends. What this team has built in such a short period of time should be celebrated. I look forward to the weekends I get to spend playing golf and hearing the stories of the veterans in the league. Holley, Rob & Matt have created a space for servicemembers to get out of their heads, get outside, and have friendly competition with other veterans. The scramble format makes it fun for folks with all skillsets. I'm terrible at golf, but one good shot can make a difference for our team.
The people are always the main focus of this organization, and every season they look to improve to make it more fun for those involved. I can't say enough great things about Heroes United!!!
