Causes: Mental Health

Mission: Provide high quality, affordable treatment for emotional, mental and addictive disorders and promote behavioral health in the greater macon county area through education, outreach and prevention services.

Programs: For over 60 years, heritage behavioral health center has provided mental health and substance use treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults, in macon county. Heritage provides a wide range of services including assessment, individual and group therapy, case management, and community support. Heritage also offers residential services including group homes and supportive housing for individuals with a diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental illness. For individuals with substance use disorders needing inpatient, detoxification and residential rehabilitation treatment are options that may be utilized at heritage. In fy17, heritage has expanded services for individuals needing treatment for mental health, substance use, and/or housing instability. Our most noteworthy program service accomplishments in fy17 include expanding our treatment services to individuals residing in dewitt, expanding treatment services to address the nationwide opiate crisis, and growing our continuum of care for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. In fy17, human resource center (hrc), the primary provider for individuals with a diagnosis of mental health or substance use disorders in dewitt, closed resulting in a community without adequate access to quality and affordable treatment services. In early fy17, heritage behavioral health, in collaboration with the dewitt 708 board, began providing assessment, case management, community support, case management, therapy, and psychiatric services, from a temporary location to address the immediate need for treatment services. Heritage has successfully opened a permanent office in clinton, illinois, to provide mental health and substance use treatment for individuals residing in dewitt county. In expanding our services to dewitt county, individuals residing in dewitt county are also able to access additional treatment options including the crisis residential unit for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Addiction services continued its place of prominence in the continuum of care at heritage. Heritage continues to expand services to effectively address the treatment needs of individuals with substance use disorders. Heritage offers a wide range of treatment services including outpatient, intensive outpatient, medication assisted treatment, detoxification, and residential treatment. In addition, heritage collaborates with the macon county circuit court drug court as a liaison, treatment team member, and the treatment provider for individuals participating in the specialty court. Heritage utilizes evidence-based practices in treating substance use disorders including cor-12, matrix, and moral reconation therapy (mrt), as well as holistic practices such as yoga, meditation, and art therapy. Medication assisted treatment options are available utilizing methadone through heritage and suboxone or vivitrol through a collaboration with crossing healthcare. Heritage provides a continuum of care to provide treatment for individuals with a diagnosis of a mental illness. Following a biopsychosocial assessment, individuals are recommended for services to assist in their recovery. Services are offered in various settings including office-based, homes, community settings, schools, and wherever a client may need services. Heritage provides a wide range of services including therapy, case management, community support, crisis intervention, crisis residential, residential group homes, and supportive housing. Heritage utilizes evidence-based practices including assertive community treatment (act), wellness recovery action planning (wrap), and illness management and recovery.
