I had knocked on many organizations' doors and nobody was able to assist me until I came to Her Justice. This organization not only provided me with legal assistance, but also with moral support; I felt secure and comfortable throughout the process. After I came in contact with Her Justice, my life had a new beginning. I feel secure of who I am and with that I can continue my life and be children's support. I am thankful to God for putting Her Justice in my way.
I just finished a 6-month legal externship at Her Justice, and words do not do justice to the wonderful individuals at this organization. The staff attorneys are exceptional, and their level of devotion of time, energy, empathy, and legal expertise to countless clients is truly unparalleled. Her Justice humanizes its clients, giving these women--and their children--the time and attention they need to feel heard and advocated for. I count myself lucky to have worked at HJ, and I look forward to continuing my pro bono work with them for many years. Thank you, Her Justice!
I am a volunteer attorney with Her Justice. Working with Her Justice was my first pro bono experience. I was concerned that I had no prior experience working with victims of domestic violence or working on an immigration matter, but I got all of the support I needed from the organization. The Her Justice attorney who served as my mentor provided training and was always available to answer any questions I had and to review my work. I've seen firsthand the great work that they do and I'm happily taking on my second case with them.
For the last six months, I have served as an extern at Her Justice providing pro bono legal representation to women involved in highly contested custody, child support, and divorce matters. My experience at Her Justice has been nothing short of amazing! Every day, I witness how the work of Her Justice positively impacts the lives of women and children throughout New York City. I am incredibly thankful that I had the opportunity to serve such incredible clients at Her Justice, and look forward to continuing to represent Her Justice clients as a volunteer pro bono attorney.
I worked with Her Justice first as a law student intern 15 years ago, then as a law firm associate doing pro bono cases for Her Justice-referred clients, then as a member of Her Justice's Junior Advisory Board, and now in the legal department of a large corporation overseeing a thriving relationship with Her Justice as a pro bono partner.
I've been inspired at every turn, from each of these different vantage points, by the urgent dedication of Her Justice staff and board members to their mission of supporting and empowering women to change their lives, and by the professionalism with which they’ve supported and equipped so many of us to be a part of this important work.
Her Justice helped me a lot and keeps giving me the opportunity to have time for myself. Her Justice provided me with caring and attentive attorneys. I am very thankful to the people who make Her Justice possible.
It was one of the best experience in my life because her justice gave me a lot of support in a very hard moment in my life, i felt alone before of this, now my life really changes for a better. I am really greatfull that I got the support from this wonderful organization
I am an attorney at a large law firm and worked with Her Justice on two pro bono cases for women petitioning for immigration status in the United States under the Violence Against Women Act. The Her Justice team, particularly Susanna Saul, provided amazing support and guidance for our pro bono team and our clients as we navigated this emotionally and intellectually challenging area of law. I also had the opportunity to participate in the Story by Story climb, which was an exhilarating event (though my asthma got the best of me). I strongly encourage others to get involved with this organization through volunteering, internships or donations!
On a scale of 1-5, I would give Her Justice a 10! I was going through a very difficult time in life, as an undocumented individual with a newborn, and was lost and I didn’t know what to do. I was legally married and needed help with all figuring out custody, support and my divorce, and as a 20 year old, I really needed guidance. I was connected with Her Justice (In-Motion at the time) and from there Her Justice really took care of me. Laura, my attorney for custody, child support and my divorce, supported me not only legally, but by taking the time to sit and just wait with me through the whole process. She wasn’t like someone just being paid to be there, but really was making sure she made the best efforts decision for me and my child. I was also in college and scared about my status, and Her Justice assisted me with my immigration options. The only reason I’m prospering in this country with my child is because of the support of Her Justice.
I have volunteered through Her Justice to assist with a divorce matter and a U-visa application. Both experiences have been a wonderful opportunity to help women in need while learning a new area of the law. Her Justice is an amazing organization that guides volunteers through every step of the process.
I became involved with Her Justice a little less than a year ago helping out as a translator on a U-Visa case. It was a super rewarding experience to help break down some of the language barriers and to be able to make a really uncomfortable situation for someone a little more comfortable.
Her Justice helped to make the U-Visa process really smooth by always answering our questions quickly (usually under 24 hours) and thoroughly.
The work I recently did with Her Justice as a volunteer was really eye opening and gratifying. The team was so professional and responsive, we were able to work through the complexities of the process to really help a client in need. Thanks for all you do! I will be happy to continue to support your great organization.
I became involved volunteering for Her Justice roughly a year ago and it has been an amazing and rewarding experience. Her Justice gives a voice to those who cannot be heard. Her Justice succeeds by promoting hope and strength in unity in the face of fear and oppression. Their tireless efforts let people know they are not alone.
I finished up a yearlong fellowship at working at Her Justice a few months ago, and it was beyond a doubt one of the best decisions I ever made. All the staff are go above and beyond in their commitment to helping as many clients as they are able, whether it is through direct client service, fundraising and development, or keeping the organization operating on a daily basis. Especially in these turbulent times, the work Her Justice does is more important than ever, and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity. The only thing I wish was different was that I could have stayed there longer - keep fighting the good fight HJ!
I joined Her Justice as a development intern in my junior year of college. This organization went above and beyond in everything that was done to serve their clients. It was heart-warming being apart of the organizations Story By Story climb. So much effort was put into this event to portray what their clients deal with on a daily basis.
I worked as a legal intern at Her Justice this summer and cannot say enough wonderful things about this organization. It is managed well, the attorneys are amazingly competent, and the amount of clients they are able to provide quality legal assistance is truly impressive. I will continue to support this organization and hopefully work with them and their clients in some capacity when I am an attorney.
Her Justice helps rewrite the narrative so that a child doesn't have to grow up in a violent home, so that a woman has the power to regain her sense of self. Her Justice does this daily, story by story. I am proud to support the organization, its annual stair climb, and its amazing staff that work tirelessly to make new stories possible for women and children in NYC. Her Justice
Her Justice is an amazing organization that helps women and families who are in need of urgent legal advice. It truly redeems lives, and I whole heartedly support it.
When women and children are in abusive situations with no help in sight, Her Justice is the shelter from the storm. Excellent work!!
Her Justice completely changed the trajectory of our lives. Their advocacy and legal expertise made a powerful financial and emotional impact in our lives. My daughter was 3 years old when they stepped in to help us and now she's a Biology major (with a double minor in French & Chinese) at Cornell University. NONE of that would have been possible without the custody and support agreement they secured for her. Thank you Her Justice!
