Wonderful organization serving the children of Honduras financially and emotionally. I’ve had 3 separate experiences volunteering with with this organization and I have been so encouraged and grateful for them each time. I can’t express how positive of a difference this organization has made to hundreds of children in Honduras. The kids and this organization deserve all the support they can get.

Helping Honduras Kids is the most life changing organization I have ever had the pleasure to volunteer with. The love and support poured out to benefit the lives of these kids in Honduras is truly unbelievable and something the world needs more of. Run by one of the most caring and loving human beings, David Ashby, the children and organization are both in great hands.

I’ve volunteered in La ceiba with HHK at the Hogar and the Jungle School, and am constantly in awe of the work they do for the children and families they support. HHK is a blessing for Honduras and I look forward to serving alongside them again soon.

I have sponsored a child through HHK for several years and have seen how she, her siblings, and others benefit from this organization. From education to clothes or food, things many of us take for granted , are provided for these children. Through my daughter's volunteer work I have seen their smiles of hope and love .

Everything about this organization exudes glory for God’s kingdom. Dave has completely poured himself into these children and taken them under his wing as his own. The people I have met while working with Helping Honduras Kids are some of my very best friends and my life has been changed since getting involved with this organization. Love love love them!

Helping Honduras Kids is an incredible organization that provides care, education, clothing, homes, and so much more to children in Honduras. They allow these kids to have a bright future, where they would otherwise be without. The Jungle School serves over 200 students by providing education, meals, vitamins, and school supplies to families who face severe financial hardships. The Hogar de Amor cares for children who are orphaned, or unable to live with their families, as well as young single mothers. HHK is a light to so many in Honduras!

In short, Helping Honduras Kids is an incredible organization that provides poor and/or orphaned children with a home, education, food, medicine, and opportunities for a better life where there would otherwise be none. Working with HHK is the highlight of my year, and I can't wait to return this summer for my 4th trip. The relationships formed with the children at the Hogar de Amor (House of Love) and Jungle school cannot be matched. Most of these children have a history of neglect and abuse, and HHK is their rescue. Serving alongside HHK allows volunteers to have a hands-on impact in changing the lives of some incredible kids. Side note: Honduras is a beautiful country.

No amount of words can express nor describe the love I have for this organization. Helping Honduras Kids is one of a kind, providing love and assistance to hundreds of children and families in Honduras. HHK built and operates a public school for children living in the impoverished mountain outside of La Ceiba, creating the opportunity for children to receive an education and a meal that they would otherwise not had access to. They also manage a children's home for children who have been abused, neglected, and/or abandoned. The amount of care and love these children receive is extraordinary. The amount of growth I have seen in the past four summers is incredible, and I cannot wait to return again this summer. The work being done their by this organization is truly amazing.

I've had the privilege of being a board member with HHK for the past 5+ years now.

Helping Honduras Kids is dedicated to improving the lives of children in a very poor part of the country, giving them the opportunity to improve their lives through love, education and support.

Having spent some time at the Hogar de Amor (orphanage) I found the children to be generally happy, flourishing and living as a family. Many of the kids previously experienced abuse and or abandonment and their challenges are many. At the Hogar they are loved and nurtured.

The Jungle School is built on the side of a mountain along the Cangregal River. It is an amazing place to visit when school is in session. You'll find it filled with children who appreciate the 'opportunity' to go to school. They navigate its steep and sometimes slippery cement-filled-tire staircase like wild gazelles, rushing to and from classrooms. It's a sight to behold! The JS provides a free education to more than 200 children, who would otherwise not be educated, giving kids a clear path forward.

Honduras is a beautiful place to visit with picturesque mountains and crystal clear turquoise waters. If you can find or make the time for a visit, it's truly a remarkable experience.

With growing programs, new classrooms and more kids, HHK is severely underfunded and always in need of donors and sponsors for the children. If you'd like to help, learn more or visit the Hogar or Jungle School go to: HelpingHondurasKids.org

I have led over 250 youth and college students from the States to Honduras with Helping Honduras Kids since 2007 and am constantly impressed with the work they are doing for so many along the central north coast of Honduras. They are so well-connected with the community and families in the area and have such huge hearts for providing a brighter future for them. Our students have served at the Hogar de Amor children's home, the Jungle School, with Grandma's Kids in El Porvenir, and visited several Campositas (villages). There are so many projects to help with from mixing concrete and painting to teaching classes and helping out around the children's home. Even if you cannot speak Spanish, you will be able to get around and offer something to the kids. Also, they can arrange lodging, transportation and other travel needs if you would like. Get ready to absolutely fall in love with Honduras and the staff and children of HHK.

After going to Honduras and seeing the programs and assistance that Helping Honduras Kids lend the children of Honduras, I was amazed that they are able to do so much with so little. Most of the organization is volunteer with a few paid teachers and local Tias. It was inspiring to see the kids of the Hogar with big smiles on their faces and the kids at the Jungle School so eager to learn. It's refreshing to see such good being done.

I began working with Helping Honduras Kids as a volunteer in 2006 from the USA, and have volunteered in many roles over the last 8 years. In 2010, I visited Honduras to see the Children's Home and Jungle School and my heart has forever belonged to the children I met since then. I was so impressed with the great work this organization has done to make a better future for so many children. Kids that were abandoned, abused, neglected and/or orphaned now have a beautiful home to live in; they have a great school to attend, and they have caretakers and teachers who love them and have spent many years making the children's lives better. HHK is dedicated to helping kids that have come from all kinds of abusive pasts and help them heal with the love of Christ Jesus.
In 2012 I decided to make the move to Honduras and become a permanent part of working with HHK. I became a member of their Board and serve as Secretary. I love the kids and the hugs and the laughter. Life in Honduras and with the children is not without its challenges, but all the joys and smiles make up for it all. It has been a great time of healing for the children at the Hogar de Amor over the years.
I would recommend anyone that wants to have a truly great volunteer experience should visit Honduras and help them for a month or more. There are many children who need sponsorship too, and you can be confident that your money goes to the children and the programs that you designate it to. HHK is a place of integrity and hope for many future generations of children.

My husband and I had an amazing experience with Helping Honduras Kids at the Hogar de Amor and the Jungle School when we went on a mission trip last summer. We finally got to meet the girl we had been sending gifts to for Christmas. This sparked a relationship with us sponsoring her and us communicating with her via email. Helping Honduras Kids provides excellent care for these children. Thanks HHK!

HHK has had a huge impact on my life. I started volunteering at the Hogar de Amor and Jungle School when I was 16 years old, and it has become part of who I am today. The relationships I have made through my involvement in HHK has made me into the person I am today, and I plan to continue volunteering with this organization. This organization shows love and devotion to these children and helps lead the children to a relationship with The Lord. HHK is so inspiring! It is also very refreshing to know that when I donate to HHK, 100% of the money is actually being used to help the children. Once you get involved in this organization, you cannot help but fall in love with the children! Those who already sponsor a child, I strongly recommend that you visit these amazing children! You will come back with such an amazing outlook on life! I would not trade my experiences with HHK for anything in the world!

I became a sponsor in 2010, and visited for the first time in 2011...and have been continuously amazed by this ministry ever since. Between the Children's Home and the Jungle School, there are 100 children who take great joy in getting to know you, giving you hugs, showing you the games and tricks and things that they have learned how to do...and craving every second of love and attention you are willing to share with them. As you learn their stories, you begin to understand why. They win a very special place in your heart quickly, as do the leaders of HHK. The directors, teachers, housemother's, and volunteers that work with this organization are totally focused on giving these children the childhood, the family structure, nutrition, education, and relationship with Christ that will give them the best chance possible tor a bright future. They are selfless and fully committed to the wellbeing of the kids. We have been nothing but impressed with every aspect of this ministry, and have continued to increase our support as we see the needs. Knowing the character of those running HHK, and experiencing the gratitude and love freely given by the kids makes supporting Helping Honduras Kids a joy! You can easily see the impact that you are making, and that is rewarding.

Besides a regular donor, my wife and I take groups to volunteer at HHK. We have witnessed first hand the love and care that this organization provides to the orphaned and to the children of the Jungle School. In an age where it is hard to trust that donated dollars are being put to good use, it is a breath of fresh air to see how this organization makes every dollar we donate count! I encourage every donor to visit and see for themselves, but you might find that something more lasting will happen to you. You might think that you are going there to serve, but will quickly find how those people in need serve you with their love, gratitude, and smiles.

The only way to help individuals out of poverty is education and teaching the love of God. The organization rates an A+ on both accounts.

HHK is having a real impact. It is a cohesive set of programs providing free elementary education, a nutritious lunch, and high school. In addition HHK runs a children's home (orphanage) and lovingly cares for over 20 boys and girls that have come from tragic circumstances. And more...they regularly do food distributions to local campesinos. The poverty in this region makes like difficult, but thanks to the financial support of donors and volunteers we are able to mold and change lives. Happy, healthy, educated children who are taught the Gospel and are rising up to become responsible young adults. We receive no government funding but we are an all-volunteer organization which means your donation goes directly to the program of your choice.

HHK is an amazing organization that provides an orphanage for abused, abandoned, or neglected children as well as a free elementary school to impoverished kids in the river region. During my many visits I have always been impressed with the values instilled in the kids and how the combination of education, a nourishing meal, and a lot of love can breathe a sense of optimism and hope. There are currently 22 kids in the children's home called Hogar de Amor (place of love). There are 103 kids in the free elementary school that is amazingly well run. In addition, the kids are all fed a nourishing lunch which for most will be the only good meal of the day. HHK also does food outreach to several campesino villages and the kids from the children's home help with the distribution. HHK receives no government funding, relying totally on individual donations or child sponsorships. They are trying to finish construction on a larger children's home, a tilapia pond to provide protein for the children, and are in need of a larger passenger van. Please consider giving to this charity, volunteering, or bringing a team.

How was my experience you ask? Let me put it this way, I volunteered at the Hogar de Amor for the latter six months of last year and I just got my plane ticket to fly back August 25 for a whole year. I absolutely loved every moment of volunteering for HHK. I love the people, the area is so beautiful and with the weekends off there is so much time to explore and see new things, and lastly the kids are some of the sweetest kids I have ever met. There were days that I questioned why I ever came, but those days made me stronger. I fully recommend considering volunteering for HHK. These guys know what they are doing!
