I have always loved volunteering at Helping His Hands but an experience that stood out to me is when a bad storm came through my community and Helping His Hands gave me and my friends the opportunity to serve our city.

As a volunteer, every week, I see food poor families receive fresh fruit and vegetables, other perishable and nonperishable foods to help families make ends meet. What a blessing.
The disaster relief team, takes machinery and supplies to clean up after the storms along with personal hygiene kits to help families start to recover.

It has been our privilege to work with Scott, Mariah and Helping His Hands multiple times. I that the first thing Scott says is that if we are on a site working and the owner comes be sure to stop and love on them as long as it takes. HHH is all about rebuilding the soul's foundation and then the structures. We have worked in North Carolina (Hurricane) and Kentucky (tornadoes) and HHH has been incredible and in keeping us busy and feeling we are making a difference. They pour there heart into your team as if you are the first to come and the love they pour into those whom they help is beyond measure. So proud to say I have worked with HHH and will recommend everyone to do so. We will again for sure.

HHH is a huge presence in our community and in our nation as a whole. From a food bank, mobility assistance, monetary assistance, and site clean-up here locally, to nation-wide disaster clean-up and emergency relief, these folks are the true hands and feet of Jesus. We are so thankful for all they do!

On December 10th, 2021, my husband and I lost everything to the quad state tornado, 15 hours before getting married. We never lost faith, and went ahead with the wedding. On our honeymoon we got a call from my dad that an organization in Indiana wanted to see about building us a new house. We couldn’t believe it! We met up with them, they gave us blue prints to choose from, and now, 10 months later, we are getting ready to move into our beautiful new home. I am forever thankful for helping His hands for all they did to get us back on our feet. We would have been so lost in the recovery process without them.

Moving to a new state in my senior years, I looked for a place to volunteer. My goal was to become connected in the community through a meaningful group. After meeting two ladies in my neighborhood, the three of us adventured out on this quest to serve in our town.
Well our plans were small in scope while God’s was big. I had heard about Helping His Hands at church so we three new residences showed up to help where needed. Our joint venture has turned out to be a blessing that is allowing us to serve well beyond our community to states beyond our own by packing disaster kits wherever disaster strikes.
Nevertheless, we enjoy working on the assembly line in gathering food supplies for our local families. The comradely with the other volunteers and the environment makes the tasks not work but a delight. Over the chosen hours, days, and weeks upon weeks the tasks have been varied from working on the front lines to back in the warehouse.
I am left with admiration for the limited staff. Their dedicated hard work in organization, distribution, and commitment to running a viable operation makes for a happy place to serve.
Being part of the Helping His Hands’ organization has made the move to southern Indiana worth doing. The people here are treasures who work hard and support one another without judgement as they meet needs in their community and beyond. God continues to answers prayer for all kinds of needs from food to repaired shelters to fellowship in a place to connect as one (or three serve.

Also, in this past yea, my home town was decimated by flood. It was an honor to help fill a semi trailer full of provisions to be sent for the people in my home town. Helping His Hands is helping the world one person at a time.

After my wife and I lost everything to the quad state tornado we had no idea what we were going to do. We were at our church preparing to get married the next day (which we did) when the tornado hit. On our honeymoon we were looking up trailers when my father-in-law called us and said there was a guy there that wanted to build us a new home. Of course we were blown away at the thought that some stranger just wanted to give us a brand new house. Fast forward to today...our house is almost done and it is beautiful. We could not have done all of this without Scott and his amazing volunteers. We owe them so much but we have to pay nothing.

Scott and Helping His Hands come in and help pick up the pieces, after the tornado on December 10, 2021. They came with volunteers that helped us clean up and fix our house. They put on a new roof, hung sheet rock back up on the ceiling and put insulation back in the attic. They also turned our garage into living space. They done a wonderful job putting new siding on our house.
Our daughter and husband lost their home due to the tornado. Helping His Hands came and built them a new home. They also built the neighbor a new home as well, he also lost his home due to the tornado.
I can't say enough about the kindness and generosity that Helping His Hands has shown to our community. They also help with clean up out at the lake, building a ramp for elderly woman, putting new roofs on other homes, and just be there when we needed them the most.

Hello my name is Billy Burton , back in December my home was hit by the horrific tornado, I remember seeing this vehicle it said Helping His Hands , they started working on my neighbors property , they came over and checked on me made sure I was okay ,and offered a prayer. Over a couple weeks I seen them a lot in my neighborhood, then one day Scott came over and told me we would like to help you. So we met over lunch and went over there process of how they can help, he said they wanted to build me a home!!!! God is so Good!! I didn’t know how this all worked hadn’t ever experienced anything like this ever..well over the last 9 months they have built me a home with volunteers and donations. Everyone of the volunteers have been from different church’s, a lot of youth groups came ,it has been a true blessing not just getting a new home but seeing how Jesus really works through his people has changed my heart and so many ways!. The name speaks for itself (Helping His Hands) this is an awesome non profit they do so much more than what the eye can see. I just want to say thank you to everyone that’s been apart of my experience ,and keep doing what your doing

Helping His Hands Disaster Response is not only a great organization but also a true example of what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Jesus. They are willing to go the extra mile for people and show them that someone really cares what they are going through.

I’ve been on a few trips with them and it was wonderful every time. I don’t know who was more blessed by the end of the week, the ones we went to help, or me. I love that they encourage everyone to be a part: it doesn’t matter how much experience you have, your age, or your gender. You may not think you can do much but let me tell you that you can. I didn’t have much experience with construction and such on those trips but I learned a lot and was able to make a difference.

They are doing great things to help those in need in our country and our own community and I believe that this organization will truly change the world.

Helping His Hands is a wonderful organization that helps countless people. It's a blessing to volunteer with them and see the joy and gratitude of the recipients who receive some assistance in whatever way. Our church partners with them to offer a mobile food pantry in the northern part of Knox County (where HHH is located), and this has helped many families with their food insecurities. I also have seen firsthand how much of a blessing the HHH Rampin Up for Jesus ministry is to folks to who cannot afford a wheelchair ramp and have been a prisoner in their own homes for quite some time. The staff and volunteers with HHH do great work for the community, the region, and many parts of the U.S., largely thanks to the vision and leadership of director Scott Shipman and the team he has helped build to steer all the various aspects of this organization.

I have personally seen how Helping His Hands staff and the countless volunteers impact lives daily for, not only the good of others, but also for the Kingdom of God. It blows me away to see so many selfless people give of their time and money to serve other people. It’s so rewarding to be a part of such a team effort, where no one is seeking the applause or attention for themselves. If anyone is feeling the urge to serve and give back, especially if at some point in life you have been on the receiving end of a major blessing, HHH is such a great place to pay it forward - to serve God by serving others who have a need that you can help meet with your hands.

We also work nationally in areas of natural disaster, build handicapp ramps and low rise steps for the disabled population. When the wildfires hit Gatlinburg, TN, Helping His Hands was there. So was I. I will be 80 in 2 months, but when I was asked to come help, I did. We slept in a church building in the Cove, and every day went to work on a house that had been completely leveled by the fire. A single woman lived there with her son. Her insurance company scammed her and some people she hired to haul off trees also scammed her. Helping His Hands did not! Not only did they rebuild her house, it was bigger than the one that was destroyed. It did not matter that the week we chose to work was the hottest week of the summer...up to 103 degrees. And yes, this is in the mountains of East Tennessee. The thing I was most impressed with was the commitment of the main crew of this Organization. They care so much about the people they help, that you would think THEY were the ones who had lost their home! You probably would not talk to them very long before tears would well up as they described the losses these people have suffered. I am not skilled, nor can I do much at all, but they acted like I was necessary to the work going on. And in spite of my failings, the work did indeed get done. I am so thankful for the opportunity of working with this fine group. Pat Oaks Knoxville, TN

Helping HIs Hands...The local church is the hands and feet of Christ on earth. The thing that captured my interest about this ministry is that the volunteers go into disaster areas, not looking to be 'in charge' but to help the hands that are already there. The local church knows the needs of the community and can lead us to the best ways of meeting those needs. I have had the privilege of serving as a board member, a field chaplain and a cook. Each of these roles has allowed me to see the lives that have been impacted by Helping His Hands. I consider it an honor to have served alongside the board and the many volunteers. Helping His Hands were do I begin. I have been a volunteer for about three years now. I have gained so much by being here everyday. This organization is AMAZING. They help so many. I have done a little bit of everything here. I love being able to help people being able to fix their cars, and helping them get the food and resources that they need so they can survive. I love the atmosphere and the people that I am around daily they truly help me, and we are one great big family. We love each other even if they are only here for a day or a couple of hours. We welcome anyone and everyone who comes in the door at Helping His Hands. I love HHH because I love seeing people smile and seeing that we can help out and make a difference in their lives even if it is just by helping them with food. As I look at each person who comes in the door and see the difference that they are making, they do not even realize that they are making a difference in my life as well. We love and care for each person and it is a great experience and opportunity for anyone and everyone evolved.

I have volunteered for Helping His Hands for three years on and off now and I love being with them. The people here are amazing and will do anything to help the people they meet on a daily basis. They give out food, love, hope and help to those in their community other communities, and even out of state. I am now a volunteer with HHH everyday and love every moment of it! We help so many people and love on them everyday and I can't wait to see more of the lives they touch with their different ministries. God has blessed Helping His Hands in many ways over the years. It is not by the people but by God who is their strength every day. They work hard and care for everyone they meet. They reach out and pray with anyone who asks or even if they don't we ask to make sure everything is okay. When you walk into Helping His Hands you can just feel the presence and peace of God in the building.

Helping His Hands goes out on many mission trips throughout the year. They bring in church groups to help them out with the mission trips that they run. These groups not only put up a foundation, walls, or even paint, but they soak the families in love, scripture, prayer, and faith. Helping His Hands helps so many people throughout a single year and it isn't just them. It is the people, our Lord and Savior, and even the love that we get from each other! Helping His Hands is a great place to just feel the love of God surrounding you!

We were and still are at a low point. We were flooded out of our house not knowing what we were going to do with not much financial and what to do. Scot and Helping his hands reached out to us to get us going. We appreciate all they are doing and the people he has reached out to. The work they are doing is awesome.

I cannot say enough about Scott Shipman and Helping His Hands. They are a Godsend. No matter where you are in life, they welcome you and provide assistance to you and your family. My ex-husband was at the lowest point in his life after making some very bad decisions. They were able to provide some food for him when he needed it. He was so appreciative of this act of kindness, that now he is volunteering once and sometimes twice a week helping others in need. They have help give him a purpose. Praise the Lord! Thank you Helping His Hands!!!!

Amazing work God is doing through Helping His Hands Disaster Response locally and several states away in disaster areas. In local disasters and difficulties HHH provides community outreach through a food pantry, a family homeless shelter, local clean up, and Rampin Up for Jesus wheelchair ramp construction program. In 2017, HHH through volunteers, constructed 2 full size homes in the Gatlinburg area that was devastated by forest fires last year, made several trips to Georgia and Key West, Florida to clean up after hurricane Irma, and still has crews in Texas mudding out houses and cleaning up after hurricane Harvey. The focus and energy in this organization is remarkable. The love they share as they reach out being the hands of Jesus is even more remarkable. What God has done through HHH is not surprising, but it is amazing!

In August of 2016, almost exactly one year ago, Louisiana experienced a 1,000 year flood that devastated communities all across south Louisiana. People lost everything! Children that had just started school not only lost their school supplies and schools, many of them also lost their homes. Helping His Hands Disaster Response came to Louisiana numerous times with truckloads of emergency supplies, cleaning supplies, clothes, and school supplies. Many of them stayed and helped people "muck" out their houses and begin the rebuilding process. It was incredible! They helped so many people in need and they did it with great love in their hearts, which made it that more special. I can't say enough about the work of this organization. I watch them now in awe go all over the country helping others in need. Louisiana was extremely luck to have this organization help this state recover.

The work this organization does within Vincennes, let alone the disaster relief is amazing. They are the most wonderful partner to help people who come to our church looking for a hand up, and they are amazing hosts for so many additional ministries in town.

The people at Helping His Hands are so wonderful and caring. They have so many areas in Knox County and around the US where they are making a huge difference. Helping so many people means that they have a big need for donations, volunteers, etc to keep their hands available to help others. These are wonderful people that are willing to help so many people, they are making a huge difference in people's lives!

Helping His Hands Disaster Response serves both locally and nationally. I've had their excellent CERT introductory training. The have experienced trainers and an excellent facility. I've also had a chance to help with the remodeling of a facility which is now a homeless shelter for families, the first in their area. They saw the need and made it happen. The leadership is constantly looking for new ways to serve others.

I have been volunteering at HHH for around a year. I volunteer the first Tuesday of every month to unload and distribute the semi we receive from Mid West Food Bank in the Am. Then in the PM we distribute the food to 14 other food pantries in the surrounding area. I volunteer ever Wednesday to pick up contributions from other locations, help clean up building, help with maintanance on the equipment. This is a great opportunity for anyone who has the time to volunteer great people to work with, honest, dependable, respectable. Myself and the others I have worked with do this because we believe it is HELPING HIS HANDS.

Helping His Hands food pantry is a wonderful service to the community. Many people would go hungry without the food pantry. The people who receive the services of the food pantry are very grateful.

Helping His Hands is such a blessing to our community and to those communities affected by natural disasters. Scott Shipman and his team are constantly responding to someone in need. That need could be finding the next meal, repairing a leaky roof, building a ramp so that someone disabled or elderly can enter and exit their home, helping to clean-up or re-build after mother nature strikes. This organization really does focus on giving a "hand up, not a hand-out." Everyone who comes across Helping His Hands, either on the giving or receiving end, is better for it. This world needs more people like Scott and those who volunteer for Helping His Hands. I am proud to serve on the Helping His Hands Executive Board. As Director of Operations for WVUT-TV & WVUB-FM, I am also proud to partner with HHH to help those in need.

This place is great! I'm a program manager for a youth camp in northwest Indiana, and last year we took two trips with HHH. They were great to work with. Their prices for going on a missin trip are amazing! They took great care of us while we were there. And the job set was very well prepared! A great organization, I can't say enough good! I hear that they are also doing wonderful things in their local community also.

Helping His Hands does exactly that. Help the hands of Jesus. HHH is one of the most diverse yet focused nonprofits you will find. There is diversity in volunteers from young children, college students, young adults, all the way to retired folks all with an amazing array of backgrounds. There is diversity in donors from corporations, to churches, to individuals, and to small businesses. The diversity also is reflected, most importantly in neighbors who receive assistance from Helping His Hands in short term and long term needs. Regional disasters: from Sandy to Moore, Oklahoma and Joplin, Missouri; from Georgia and Katrina to Henryville, Indiana have benefitted from Helping His Hands assistance and volunteers. Locally, a food pantry has been established to assist those in need of basic provision. The Salvation Army refers neighbors when they run out of resources. Other local assistance includes home repair, roof repair and replacement, and providing some furnishings for those who have had a fire or other destructive event. Temporary housing for those who have lost their home is being developed with a vision to assist the homeless in the future. A great organization in helping His hands.

Helping His Hands is one of the best missional organizations thst I've witnessed. After disaster, most organizations just help with recovery and clean up but HHH stays through rebuild and sometimes is the last organization to leave a disaster area. Not only are they instrumental to the aid of disaster stricken areas but they provide many services in the local community and have a great vision for helping people recover and bringing people to Christ. My children and I went to family camp in Oklahoma this last summer to help rebuild a house. It was an awesone experience for them, at the ages of 5 & 13 to see how helping others out of the love of Christ is so impactful to those who need hope. I can't wait to see what Christ does next thru their organization.

Helping His Hands Disaster Response Inc. is an organization that does what it says it will do. No empty promises here. We have been blessed to have their groups stay at our church many times. The director, Scott Shipman is a man of God who has been given a mission and involves many churches and individuals in making this vision happen.

You will not be disappointed in volunteering Helping His Hands, nor will you be disappointed if you are a recipient of their amazing generosity. This ministry will be a blessing to you no matter what your involvement is with them.

Our church had 9 members go to Joplin Mo to help assist those in need from the devastating tornado they had. It was an invitation from Scott of Helping His Hands that we decided to make this trip. Scott is a man that loves God and loves to help his people in their time of need. All it takes is the willingness to help and serve to help another person. Helping His Hands took care of everything, from arranging our sleeping quarters, providing transportations to the work site and they put us in areas where we could do the most good. The people we helped we so gracious and we were blessed beyond words to be able to make a "hands on" contribution to those in need. Everything Helping His Hands does goes to the glory of God!

Helping his hands is a great ministry. The director, Scott Shipman, has a most excellent vision and mission for the organization. I really enjoyed the authenticity and realism that happens within this group. Real people are impacted in very real ways by everything around them. They seek to offer a helping hand (as the name implies) to people in need, and that's exactly what they do. They go out and provide assistance and relief to those who need it.
Even if you're not that skilled at construction or the various actions in recovery, there is no need to worry. Helping his Hands has experienced workers able to provide guidance to those who may need it and can teach you a variety of skills that you can keep for a lifetime. Ideally, one could take what they learn and be able to use that knowledge in other areas, such as other mission trips or their own hometown.
In conclusion, HHH is the real deal.

Being a college student you don't always have the money to donate to groups like HHH. But you can still give your time. I loved going on mission trips to areas stricken by disaster and seeing in person the difference HHH is making in peoples lives.
