Helping Hearts equine rescue has been a part of my life for many many years. Lisa Post gives 150% (and that’s putting it mildly) to each animal in her care. She has given these animals a wonderful second chance to live their lives and be respected, loved, and content. It doesn’t matter how old or young, if horses, mules, donkeys, minis, (this also includes goats, pigs, wounded birds, chickens, turkeys) are in desperate need of a home and a place to heal they find it here at HHER. And, for those that are not able to be adopted out for certain reasons; Lisa welcomes them to her beautiful and peaceful farm as their permanent and forever home. I have seen so much love, concern, and amazing volunteer teamwork in caring for the horses, mules, minis, and donkeys that call HHER home. Everyone here is always ready to do whatever it takes to help any animal in need. All animals receive the best veterinary care and diets based on their dietary and medical needs. Not only has Lisa made HHER into a safe haven for these precious animals, she is always ready to help others whether it be by giving advice or hands on assistance…it’s all for the animals and about making their lives better. We all work together and as a volunteer, I am so grateful to Lisa to allow me and the other volunteers to be a part of this rescue. It is very sad that the abuse and neglect of these magnificent creatures will continue to happen at the hands of people that possess no compassion or concern but who only see these animals as a commodity to be used and tossed aside when no longer needed. However, on a happy note there are people like Lisa and us as volunteers that give of ourselves to help those animals in need. Helping to give them the quality of life that they deserve. I am so proud of the work and labor of love that Lisa takes on because she cares that much. I highly recommend this rescue for the best possible care ever of a horse, mule, or donkey in need.
Helping Hearts is a small but mighty rescue that helps senior equines (horses, mules, donkeys, minis) when they need it most. Helping Hearts helps those seniors who need a soft place to land. I’ve volunteered there for several years and have seen first-hand the wonderful care they receive.
For the past six years, Helping Hearts Equine Rescue has been my charity of choice, and for good reason. Founded by Lisa Post, this incredible organization is a beacon of hope for horses in need. Helping Hearts is committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and giving senior equines who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned a warm and caring barn. Lisa's dedication to providing these wonderful horses (and sometimes even turtles, tortoises, goats, chickens, spiders and frogs) a second chance is truly inspiring.
The compassion and tireless efforts of Lisa and her few volunteers ensure that each horse receives the care, love, and dignity it deserves. Supporting Helping Hearts means directly contributing to meaningful, life-changing work for these animals. Lisa, thank you for ALL you do!
And lastly, I'm proud to work for a company that provides a matching gift donation, doubling my contribution - thank you JPMorgan!
I can’t say enough good things about Lisa Post and Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. She takes loving care of older equines and gives them a wonderful forever home. I donate frequently to fundraising and when one of the gentle old souls may need emergency care. Remember, it’s not always easy knowing that eventually you will be saying goodbye as they age, but Lisa and her volunteers provide a soft landing and wonderful senior years. Please find it in your heart to consider following and donating to this amazing equine rescue!
HELPING Hearts. Equine Rescue ( HHER) is a safe haven to equine in need.
They may have been neglected, abused, taken to an auction headed to slaughter or possibly their family can no longer safely care for them.
Upon arriving at HHER each rescue will receive excellent care, a clean straw lined stall with food, hay and water. They are examined by a veterinarian and given whatever medical attention is needed. They are in a special place away from the other residents for about two weeks until it is clear they are healthy and can join the other residents safely. Each new rescue immediately starts to learn they are safe, loved and will be cared for by gentle handling. Lisa, president of HHER is highly educated about equine and knows exactly what each one needs. She oversees the carve of each horse/donkey personally in the AM and evening after dinner to give each a bedtime treat and check they are ok. If she finds a resident to be sick,… they receive immediate medical attention. Weather permitting, all residents go outside each morning after breakfast to enjoy their day in one of the beautiful fields with buddies.
Volunteers graze, groom, bathe and shower all HHER equine with love and affection.
Lisa’s philosophy is for all rescues to live a happy carefree life retired at HHER. All they need to do is be a horse/ donkey and enjoy retirement. When it is made clear that one of the rescues is sick or in pain and cannot get better, they are carefully, painlessly euthanized while surrounded by their loving HHER family, I have been a volunteer at HHER for several years and have witnessed the excellent care, compassion and love given to each and every animal living there.
HHER is an EXCELLENT Top Notch. A+ Rescue.
Five Stars Plus.

My neighbor had a 40 plus year old horse named Sassy Lass. She adopted, loved and cared for Sassy since she was a year old. As my neighbor reached her 80’s she had some personal health issues. This caused her to worry about the quality of care she could continue to give Sassy Lass in the coming winter months. Some mornings Sassy was laying down and could not get up by herself. Friends and neighbors would help, but my neighbor knew Sassy needed more help then she could offer to continue living a healthy happy life.
Someone told her about Helping Hearts Equine Rescue( HHER).
My neighbor contacted Lisa, the owner of HHER and they made arrangements for Sassy Lass to move there. I had been very involved in Sassy’s daily life,… so I rode along when Sassy was trailered to HHER. We were both very emotional about delivering Sassy to a rescue, but knew it was in her best interest and we had heard wonderful things about HHER. Lisa greeted us and Sassy in the most friendly manner and made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. Sassy was welcomed and we all walked down to her new home which I later named Paradise‼️ We entered a gated area full of green grass, trees, sun, shade, fresh water and a welcoming large stall covered with fresh straw‼️ Sassy met her field mate, a pony named Candy and they were off to a great start.
We were told we were welcome to visit anytime. Sassy thrived at HHER for close to four healthy and happy years. She had special senior food, shelter, veterinary care, whatever she needed to stay well and love. Volunteers came and groomed her and showered her with love and attention as they did for ALL of the rescues at HHER. Sassy’s owner and I visited Sassy often to continue to share our love for her to continue to spoil her. We were always welcomed by the HHER staff and volunteers. Part of Lisa’s philosophy at HHER is that all animals enter her rescue should enter with one thing to do,… relax, retire and just be carefree‼️ Working days were over, time to chill in the field, graze, roll, be with buddies, get groomed, showered with love and enjoy life. Animals at HHER are to live out their life with no cares or worries. Once they are no longer healthy and the veterinarian examines them and explains they would start to suffer, they are humanely euthanized so they do not suffer. At this time, they are surrounded by those who love them and the animals feel safe. HHER offers excellent care and living conditions with the important addition of experience, knowledge and love. I would recommend HHER as an EXCELLENT RESCUE.
Lisa and her volunteers do amazing life saving work with all the animals they rescue! They get top notch medical care and are rehabilitated and placed into wonderful new homes! We need more people like them!
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue Inc is an extraordinary rescue that provides medical care and rehabilitates equines that have all but given up hope. Whether they arrive from the slaughter pipeline or from a loving owner that can no longer care for their horse, they are treated with dignity and love. As they heal they realize they have a voice and their personalities begin to shine! Being an all volunteer rescue, every dollar raised goes to the care of the equines in need. Another admirable facet of Helping Hearts' is that every equine adopted out has a forever home at HHER. If they need to be returned for any reason they are welcomed back to the farm. Being a volunteer and an adopter of one of the rescues I can attest to the amazing care given to each and every animal.

I am a volunteer at HHER and I adopted a mini from Helping Hearts Equine Rescue five years ago. President and owner of the rescue, Lisa Post, has been extremely supportive and dedicated to ensuring all rescues in her care and adopted out are well taken care of FOR LIFE!
HHER provides the utmost standard of care. From extreme neglect and abuse cases to owner surrenders, all animals are shown the love that they deserve. The volunteers at HHER are also dedicated, caring for all animals there and helping them decompress and adjust to the wonderful life they have ahead of them at HHER!
One of the best, if not the best, horse rescues in the tri state area! My experiences with HHER have been nothing but positive! I look forward to supporting HHER for many years to come.
I have been a part of the Helping HeartsEquine Rescue family for years as a donor and friend. The reason I choose HHER over and over to be the recipient of my donations is the absolute integrity and commitment shown by Lisa M Post and her team.
Through great pictures, updates, and occasional visits I feel like a valued part of important work. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make a difference! I’ve always dreamed of rescuing a draft horse, and through Helping Hearts I can be part of rescues like Finn.❤️
Helping Hearts has been doing a great service to many animals in need with the animals' best interests in mind - always, the animals' best interest come first. If you want your donation to matter, this very worthy organization will put it to good use.

I hope to come and visit this rescue very soon .. and along with all of my continued support ❤️ what a great difference this rescue makes in the world. Love it !!! This woman’ name is Betsy , who I met yesterday and so happy she made me aware of this beautiful rescue
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue a very special place not only for the animals that come here to be loved and cared for but also for all the people that spend time caring for these animals. We are all honored to be a part of this amazing rescue. It is not only horses that come to this safe haven, we also have mules, donkeys, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, and a potbelly pig.
Lisa Post, the founder, provides them with a safe and caring home along with the special care which many of them need. For these beautiful horses who live at Helping Hearts Equine Rescue, whether it is returning them to good health or providing them with a forever home, that is the mission of this rescue. We cannot change the past abuse or neglect that these animals and horses have suffered, but I know that once they come here, they are safe, they are at peace, and they are loved. incredibly loved!
Kudos to Lisa Post for all she has done for the animals that have passed through this rescue and those that continue to live there. And, to all who volunteer and help out in many ways to make this rescue the wonderful place that it is.

Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is an amazing place both for animals and people. It is a wonderful feeling to work with the horses and look in their eyes, not knowing what each horse has been through, but knowing that they are safe, loved, and well cared for now. To follow their progress as they regain their trust in people and improve their health is not something one can quite put into words. Each horse is given excellent veterinary care and lots of room to play and socialize with other horses.
Everyone here works together for the good of the animals and the volunteers are such a great group of people that have come together for a mutual cause...their love of animals. We so enjoy taking care of these precious horses from grooming to whatever needs to be done around the barn. In return we receive their nudges, nickers, and kind eyes thanking us for our time and affection. We get to see how compassionate care and receiving the love they deserve changes the entire picture for these horses. If you listen to a horse, there is always something to learn. What more can one ask for?
Lisa Post, founder, has created a safe-haven for not only the horses but other animals such as our pot-bellied pig, goats, chickens, rabbits, and who knows what the next day will bring to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue! Lisa goes above and beyond to rescue these horses from abuse, neglect, and slaughter; which is a horrible fate that I wish we could rescue every horse from. She has given so many horses that chance to live and be surrounded by those that care and love them. Even those horses that come to us in such a bad way that we are not sure they will be able to pull through, once they get to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue, Lisa makes sure that they are given the veterinary care needed, nurtured. well cared for, and best of all, loved for the rest of their lives.
I am so grateful to be a part of this group and so blessed to be able to share time every week with the horses. It is good for the soul and offers me a peace that I can't find anywhere else. There are a lot of rewards here for people and animals. Some of the horses have a forever home with Helping Hearts; others will be adopted and that is such a happy feeling when one of these magnificent horses finds a loving home. You can feel everyone's joy as the news is shared at the farm.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue does great things for horses and I am proud to be a part of this organization. I am fortunate to know and work with the people and horses that make this place what it is. One cannot volunteer at Helping Hearts Equine Rescue without leaving with a smile on their face and a warmth in their heart anticipating their next visit. Best of all, it is knowing that what we do here, truly makes a difference in the life of every horse that passes through the barn doors.
Helping Hearts is one of the few nonprofits I donate to. I am always sure the money is going to directly care for the animals under Lisa's protection. This is an incredibly loving rescue where all the animals are treated with complete kindness and understanding. I have donated to specific fundraisers and followed the stories of the rescues with keen interest and concern. Helping Hearts goes above and beyond to give every rescue the best veterinary care when needed and always tries to do the best to give each animal every chance for a healthy happy life. Indeed, the "Hearts" part of this nonprofit is always the first option. Lisa's beautiful farm is a true sanctuary.

Helping Hearts is one charity I donate to whenever possible. I know the money will be put to good use protecting and caring for senior horses and other rescue horses in their care. Lisa is a amazing caretaker who always gives her all to see that the horses have the best of everything. I have delighted in seeing animals arrive at her farm in poor condition and then begin to blossom there in new and wonderful lives. I have known Lisa for many years now and my respect and admiration for all her rescue work still continues to grow. Helping Hearts is truly a heart of gold.
My husband and I bought a small farm a few years back and our goal was to give abandon and neglected animals a home. We love miniature ponies and Lisa and her crew just rescued 2 feral ponies. When we contacted Lisa about them she knew they needed time. Helping Hearts works with their animals to get to know them.and make them feel safe before transitioning them to their adoptive home. In the meantime awaiting rhe ponies we adoptied 2 young donkeys that are so loving amd sweet, we could not be happier . Soon came the ponies and now we have four equine that are thriving. Whats in a name you ask, "Helping Hearts" says it all. Lisa and her team are the friendliest, most down to earth people you will find helping animals. Plus they do training, dressage and so much as this is their passion.
I was introduced to HHER by a friend when I was looking for a horse. I met Lisa Post in person after talking through social media, when I drove to HHER to meet Logan who I subsequently adopted (it was love at first sight!) We stayed in touch over Logan for the next few years, and when I lost him to renal failure Lisa grieved with me. Logan was a very special horse in so many ways, one being that he was Lisa’s first rescue. He was her inspiration for starting HHER. After his loss Lisa and I stayed in touch and eventually I agreed to foster Casey, a pony that had been adopted and returned a few years later. Lisa needed room for another horse who was being returned because of a serious injury so Casey came to stay with me for a few months. Those few months have turned into permanent foster because Casey has since lost both eyes to uveitis. We consulted multiple vets and had many conversations about his future with no eyes because it could have been disastrous, but Casey is a tough pony with a strong will to live. He may no longer have sight but he is a very happy pony (he has 2 mini donkey friends) and HHER continues to support him so he can live out his life where he feels safe and happy. My experience with HHER shows me that the organization truly has the animal’s best interest in mind in all of their decisions. If I could give them 10 stars I would!
They take great care of the equines and other animals in their care. They know when it's time to let one go. They are always transparent about where the money goes and is financially responsible.

I started volunteering at Helping Hearts Equine Rescue several years ago. I have watched how Lisa treats each horse, pony, donkey or mule individually and with compassion and respect. “Whatever they need…they get!”
I have learned a lot about the donkeys and mules which I had never been exposed to before now. Whatever we give to the rescues in our time volunteering, we get so much back from them.
After losing my own 29 year old OTTB, I asked about fostering. I now am fostering one of the rescues from HHER!
I highly recommend HHER! The farm is a little bit of heaven on earth!…just what the rescues deserve!

Even during the pandemic, Helping Hearts Equine Rescue was able to continue their ongoing efforts to take in new equines in need of assistance, as well as continue the great work that HHER has done for more than ten years with their current residents. Whatever the rescues need as far as taking care of their medical needs, shoeing, special feed, etc. ...THEY GET! (Along with the special attention they get from the volunteers). Whether they are young, old, horse, mule, mini, donkey or pony, they are treated as individuals with dignity and caring.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is a top notch rescue. I have known HHER for 15 years and been contributing to the great work they do as well as adopting from HHER. They take difficult cases with horses that have health issues and always do everything possible for the horse. Every life has value and none are thrown away because it is too expensive to help them. 5 Star Rescue!!!!

Lisa's dedication to horses, donkeys, mules and any living creature is amazing. She is always there to help where needed and treats every animal in her care like they are gold. She will do and try anything and everything to give each animal the best care and life. She never gets the easy ones and many horses that come to her care have challenging health issues. She gives 100% to every animal she takes into HHER and never complains about the time and attention it takes her. I am glad there are people like her that will be there when the animals need her but to do that she needs people to support financially. I have adopted from HHER and have fostered and help with donations so she can keep helping.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is the nonprofit that I contribute to the most. Why? Because Lisa Post does an incredible job with the equines that have been lucky enough to land in her care. She’s also extremely knowledgeable which aides in quickly noticing any changes and making diagnosis. Most of the equines are up there in age and are so fortunate to be spending their senior years with Lisa. If only there were more people like her. She’s great at updating what’s going on and determining what needs to be done in the care of all these lucky animals.
Great rescue. The animals are well taken care of and loved. They put their heart and souls into giving these animals everything they need.
Helping Hearts is basically that - they continually help all animals, horses, minis, donkeys, goats,, pigs, chickens, reptiles, rabbits and many insects. Lisa Post offers first rate care, love and security for all her “intakes” and assures that each one will never have to suffer again with the guarantee of the Helping Hearts promise that if the adoption doesn’t meet expectations, the policy of returning the animal back to Helping Hearts is mandated. Their mission is super commendable. In addition to all of the aforementioned, Lisa provides an almost daily informative and educational fact for us all to learn from and enjoy. They are very deserving of this awesome recognition. Thank you for your consideration. Ellen M
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is a model to emulate for every nonprofit / not for profit rescue. The administrator Lisa Post is dedicated to every animal that is fortunate to find a forever or even a temporary home at Helping Hearts.
The attention and kindness shown by Lisa and her staff to every resident at Helping Hearts verges on miraculous and continues to amaze her loyal supporters.
Helping Hearts can match their kind efforts with much larger charitable organizations without being burdened top heavy administrative minutia.
I personally look forward to Lisa Post's often daily updates on her good works at Helping Hearts as giving me hope for a problematic society and troubled world.
Helping Hearts has been around for a long time and takes in the ones truly in need. Lisa and her volunteers rehab, place or give sanctuary to the hardest cases and don't turn away a horse just because it is old or needs medical attention. I have visited her farm every year on many occasions and all the horses looked well loved and cared for. She devotes herself to those in her care 24-7 and never complains about it. Helping Hearts has given sanctuary to those truly in need and has helped them cross the Rainbow Bridge when it is their time. I am completely anything I donate to Helping Hearts (money or supplies) will be used entirely for those in need. There isn't enough space here for me to say all the good things about Helping Hearts.
HHER is a terrific community of critters using different numbers of legs from all walks of life. Rescues of all kinds, including humans looking for warm and friendly connections with other humans and species members as well. Amazingly lovely place, well-run, with much generosity of spirit.

I know and love horses, and other farm animals as well. On my first visit to HHER I was blown away by the organization and care for and condition of the animals and farm - all kinds of animals. They seem content with overall care and visits by volunteers and to get what they need. If additional care or attention is needed the farm reaches out to their extended sources of support. Great place, great model with obvious passion of the management.
Helping Hearts is an amazing rescue run by the amazing Lisa Post. She rescues abandoned horses from the auction where they are purchased for food consumption - yuck. She rescues abused, neglected horse as well. These fortunate horses are trained and conditioned to recognize and finally trust people. She then finds a good home for them with the understanding that if it doesn't work out, they are to be returned to her. Those that are too old and/or unadoptable will spend the rest of their lives at Helping Hearts. She also rescues goats, turkeys, rabbits, donkeys and mules. We have such respect and admiration for what she does! I was able to volunteer there for several years and witnessed first hand her miracles.
I support this rescue with a monthly donation. I wish it could be more! Watching these mostly elderly horses, ponies and donkeys living out there Senior years as loved members of this rescue brings me happiness. Very few elderly or pasture only residents have the love, care and supervision that this rescue provides. Lisa is awesome at running this rescue, organizing volunteers and donors but a huge shout out to her personalized care for each individual resident!!
Helping Hearts is a wonderful rescue providing great care for all their horses. They give some horses a soft landing and help others out of bad living situations.
Helping Hearts is the best horse rescue. Very clean and well kept. The horses are well takin care of and are living happy lives

Helping Hearts & it’s founder Lisa are an amazing horse rescue! Known it since it’s inception and they always go above and beyond for the animals! If all professional horsemen & women stepped up as Lisa did & took care of their own animals to the end, there would be a lot less need for rescue.
Helping Hearts has been apart of my life now for nine years. It’s my little piece of heaven and a sanctuary for my soul and all of the rescues. Lisa Post is the real deal. She is truly a leader a teacher and a giver of life. Wether it’s equines or cats or a pig or goat they have the ultimate heaven and her unending drive and knowledge to help them and show them a better life than what they had. She never gives up on her animals. She has taught me so much and still teaching me!!!! Thank you Helping Hearts for your place of love and strength you give your rescues.

The facility is heaven...Lisa Post is a teacher...leader... community supporter and most of all a gift to animals in fire need.

I have been volunteering with Helping Hearts Equine Rescue for many years. This is a place where not only horses come to heal but people do too. It is a place where you can forget what is going on in the world around you and find a place where the care and love that the horses receive here comes around full circle to everyone at the farm. The horses give back what is given to them. A perfect example of the human-animal bond.
Each horse, donkey, or mule that arrives here usually comes with a story but some arrive and we don’t know their story. What has broken their spirit, why they look so sad, what caused their medical issues...and the list of things goes on. The founder, Lisa Post, is so attentive to each and every rescue that arrives. Beginning with their settling-in and medical needs, to that special emphasis on those hugs and nuzzling needs!
When one of our rescues finds a new home, what a happy day that is. For those rescues that cannot be re-homed due to medical or other issues...well, Lisa makes sure they have a permanent home at the rescue.
My words have only touched on all the hard work, love, care, and other wonderful things that make Helping Hearts Equine Rescue what it is. Hats off to Lisa and all those that give of themselves to help these precious horses, donkeys, and mules to live out their lives with the dignity, care, and love they deserve on this most beautiful peaceful farm.
Attached are pictures of some of our rescues that have touched our hearts and lives.
Helping Hearts is one of the few charities outside of my church I never hesitate in giving my donations. Lisa's care and love for her rescued horses and a number of other needy animals is beyond measure. She is particularly kind to senior horses living out their lives in her rescue after they have been retired. She is always posting stories of her animals and these tales prove her genuine compassion and understanding of her animals' needs and personalities. I highly recommend Helping Hearts Equine rescue as one of the best in the nation.
Helping Hearts is a caring rescue who helps the worst cases of need. Lisa never says no, instead she says what do we have to do to start the process of making this equine whole again. She treats everyone with love and caring. This is one rescue that deserves 5 stars and more.

I had followed them on social media for a while. I went to a few tack sale and was very impressed by Lisa Post and her rescue. All her animals were healthy and friendly and the barns and grounds were well kept. She took in a horse that I was interested in and I went to see him. He was not a good fit for my needs, but she never rushed me and was so nice when I told Scout would not work out for me after all. All donations go right to the horses and she never turns away the old and ill--that is mostly she keeps and cares for until the end. I couldn't think of a better charity for my hard earned money to go to.
An amazing organization that does astounding work helping animals! Please do what you can to support these incredible people who are heroes to animals!
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is a great place to visit. Lisa is kind and caring with all the horses, ponies, dogs, cats, and she even has a pig. She also runs a boarding stable and offers dressage lessons. I leased a horse there and it was a great experience. I really learned alot. I would definately recommend Helping Hearts because it is very well run and another great thing....she also has a great group of workers and volunteers who help out with the horses.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is a wonderful place. They make sure all the animals that go to their facility are taken care of for the rest of the animals life.
This is a wonderful rescue. Lisa is the most caring person who will donate to other organizations in need.
HHER cares tremendously for their rescues, many times taking them back and caring for these horses for the remainder of their lives. They work at making sure an adoption is a good match initially, but circumstances and life events happen and they happily take back their horses.

Old and unwanted horses to young and unstarted horses, HHER takes them all in, gives them a second chance for happy futures. Finding new homes for these horses is no easy task, a lot time and money is required to rehabilitate and find suitable homes for these horses. Potential adopters are screened thoroughly and HHER does solid evaluations of the horses before offering them for adoption. I highly recommend donating to this rescue group or searching for your next equine companion there.
Helping Hearts not only takes in rescues, but rehabilitates and finds appropriate homes as well. Animals are beautifully cared for and loved
I have been fortunate to have spent the past several years as a volunteer at HHER. Lisa Post is a truly compassionate person who has dedicated her life and resources to rescuing and rehabilitating horses. Horses (and all animals) are loved here and they are given the care they need to heal. Lisa is gifted in her ability to work with horses and has provided a sanctuary for unwanted, mistreated and misunderstood horses.

I started volunteering with HHER several years ago. Keller, the first rescue that I helped with ,was a partially blind, deaf and elderly pony. I developed a bond with him. He would prance around after I groomed him and sometimes trot over to see me. He lived out his long life well cared for and surrounded by love on Lisa’s beautiful farm often side by side with his best friend, Simon a rescued Amish draft horse. I have been lucky to help provide TLC with many of Lisa’s rescues including a Clydesdale named Bentley and a Peruvian Paso Fino named Gaitor. Lisa takes in horses that have been mistreated, neglected and often left to be auctioned for slaughter. At HHER they are rehabilitated with love and proper medical care. They learn to trust again. Lisa finds them good homes. She also takes equines that are not adoptable due to health conditions and lets them live out their lives with the dignity, love and care that they deserve. Lisa one of the most hard working people I know but to her, horse rescue is her life and passion.
I’ve been a volunteer with HHER, and have been a witness, and occasionally a small part of, the love and care given to the animals brought into rescue.

HHER is the forever home for several neglect cases. There I fell in love with an elderly mule, the victim of severe over work by her owners. Lisa brought her into rescue where she spent the rest of her days. She was beloved by everyone, and the time I spent with her, and the other equines, was wonderful.
This local rescue organization really steps up to take the old or even ancient horses/ponies/minis/donkeys that anyone else would just discard. Gives them the medical & other care they often need & let’s them life out their lives with dignity. Love what they are doing!
Lisa tirelessly rescues and cares for so many lost souls to give them a better life and when possible finds them a forever home if them do not become full time residents with her....
Been following HHER for many years. I believe in the work Lisa does and knows she puts her heart and soul into those horses. Well, all the animals! I try to honor the memory of Bentley and donate what I can. HHER, Lisa, Chris and the crew are top notch. God bless them for their hard work!

For the love of a horse. Not just any horse. But a big, beautiful horse. One that I knew I could never own, but I loved with all my heart. When HHER had rescued him from auction, he needed a few hundred pounds before he would look like the magestic Clydesdale he once was. But a malnourished horse can develop autoimmune issues and it took time. HHER was there for him, like so many other equines over the years. Many loving homes have welcomed lucky equines, but Lisa continues to keep watch. Some horses make their way back to HHER if their family’s circumstances change. Some become permanent residents. Such was the case with that big hunk of Clyde, Bentley. The big guy had been thru some tough times and his body showed. He had issues keeping on weigh, his feet abcessed, but his spirit kept Lisa and HHER fighting for him. I remember the day Lisa allowed me to come down and meet Bentley and the rest of the gang. Here I was this fat, frumpy special ed teacher drooling over this huge horse! I commend Lisa and Chris, and all the others who make HHER the incredible rescue it is today. There are animal lovers and then there are those who seem to exist for the animals. Her interest and knowledge of all living things just exemplifies what an extraordinary person she is. And she has gathered a great team for the rescue. She fights for the animals but is humane when it comes to making THAT decision. She made sure that the group of us who loved the big guy all knew that as long as he showed he was willing to fight, she would fight for Bentley. Her and her team of equine specialists. A message I interpreted as “I don’t care how much anyone cries, when it’s Bentley’s time, I will do what is best for him. Based on what the vet and farrier feel as well.” I am grateful for HHER for all that they do. I am thankful and grateful for Lisa Post because she took the time to educate me, teach me about what her rescue does and share her love and passion for equines with me so that this fat, frumpy special ed teacher could share that message with everyone who would listen. There are a whole lot of rescues out there....not all are good, not all are reputable. But I stand behind this one. There aren’t enough ways to express that. Except one....go ask the horses!
Lisa and her team do whatever it takes to see that each horse's diverse needs are met. They know not all horses learn the same wayThey understand that what is good for one horse it may be the complete opposite for another.. they give horses a whole new lease on life. A true soft and safe landing when they might have lived a not so good life before. I don't have much to donate.. but I do when I can.
Wonderful home for rescue horses. I had one from there until I couldn’t ride anymore. He is back there enjoying the retired life! I donate monthly.
This is truly the best managed, most professional non profit I have ever supported. Lisa and the team are knowledgeable, compassionate and effective. They give hope, comfort, love and second chances to so many unwanted equines. Being a small part of this work is an honor and a blessing.
Lisa is diligent and empathetic to all the horses rescued in giving them the care and love needed...whether for renewed health, restored function....or for a quality of life to their remaining months/years
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is the real deal. Lisa Post is serious about protecting these magnificent animals and does so with clockwork precision every year. Helping Hearts is a steady, constant and reliable rescue for Equines to find respite when they need it even if that lasts for life.
My husband decided to take up riding and then wanted a horse. He is quite tall and was a very inexperienced rider at the time. We looked high and low. A TB came up for adoption at Helping Heart. I talked to Lisa about the suitability of a TB for a very inexperienced rider and she said Kole would be perfect. Kole was over 17 hand and very mellow. We went to meet him and he was exactly as Lisa said. A big, sweet puppy dog. They had rescued him from very bad conditions and brought him back to health. He and my husband had a wonderful relationship. Helping Hearts does an amazing job of caring for the animals they rescue and knows them and are very honest about what the animal has been through and what to expect. Kole and Jim had a wonderful relationship.

We had a horse she rescued. He had been starved and she brought him back. He was exactly what she described him to be. I also know she will take any horse back if you can no longer care for it. The care given to the horses is excellent and she treats them with kindness, compassion, and love....as if they are all her own personal horses.
Helping Hearts is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of equines (horses, donkeys, mules). They rescue animals from starvation, neglect, and slaughter, and they put their whole hearts into providing the best care and rehabilitation possible. I’ve never seen a rescue work so hard to give these animals the best lives they could ever have, just walking through the rescue feels like you’ve entered a wonderland. These animals have gained a sanctuary where they loved and exceptionally well cared for. This rescue is an amazing place, and they put their all into the care and happiness of the equines they rescue. There are no lengths they do not take to ensure their equines are safe, healthy, and eventually, placed into a loving forever home that holds the same values for care.
Both the owners & all volunteers unselfishly dedicate to saving equine and all animals in need. I can honestly say it is a pleasure to know such people. Keep up the good work!
HHER - A Wonderful, caring sanctuary for all horses, ponies, minis, donkeys, mules, as well as any creature in need of expert care, rehabilitation, and most of all, love. I highly recommended supporting HHER in any way possible.
Helping Hearts is a soft place to fall for equines in need. In a world where people don’t value their senior horses and are looking to “ get rid” of them, HH takes in those it can. It’s a small but might rescue that uses your donations to help horses, mules, and donkeys in need.
Helping Hearts is the Most Amazing Rescue out here Lisa the owner/founder has a heart of gold she gives her all to help not only Equines BUT ALL ANIMALS IN NEED!!! I can not say all the Wonderful things they offer but tell only the truth. Thank you Lisa for ur Wonderful heart u give so much to each broken soul.
Lisa Post is absolutely an amazing person. She has done wonders for all types of equines. Lisa has worked hard to bring each one to their potential. She has also made sure all of her resumes had the best quality of life.
She personally helped a very special horse "Laddy" when he was in much need. Me and lad have some history so this one really touched my heart and I am forever greatful to her.
I love the work hat Lisa and her volunteers do I am so happy that they give these deserving critters a seCond chance.
Lisa Post is an amazing sole who cares for all living things with such passion. She is truly my idol.
Helping Hearts is the most caring, knowledgeable, and professional rescue I have ever experienced.
In addition to taking on the most challenging rescue situations, Lisa Post and her team share their knowledge freely and educate people who want to do the best they can for the animals.
As a horse person with a long career in non- profit work, I can honestly say this is the best I’ve seen. And I happily drive an hour and a half to be part of the barn family!
Helping Hearts is a well run rescue. Lisa truly cares and does the best by the animals she cares for with the help and support of numerous volunteers.
Helping Hearts is an amazing organization that really cares about all animals and always goes above and beyond to help them. The devotion to the horses who are blessed with finding their way there is incredible each and every day!

Great rescue! Lisa is doing a great job and typically takes the most difficult cases.

HHER has been doing an amazing job for years taking the most difficult equine rescue cases and giving them a great life. From starved horses to senior ones on their way to auction (aka slaughterhouse), Lisa and the crew of volunteers give them the care and love they needed to blossom as happy horses.
All the work they do is amazing. Some come in such rough shape and Lisa and her staff rehab them to reveal what beautiful animals they become with love and kindness oh and proper nutrition.
Once again I feel compelled to let everyone know what a great rescue Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is. Lisa puts everything into helping the horses, ponies, mules, and donkeys who are lucky to have found safe harbor on her farm. I hear about and witness rescues who fail in their missions to animals, but Lisa pours every donation into the rescue. She's keeps in contact with her donors, like me, and never fails to be open about how her charges are doing. Lisa and Helping Hearts is totally dedicated to making life better for their rescues. I'm proud to help in a very small way as a monthly donor.

I am a donor to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. They first came to my attention when the founder, Lisa Post, facilitated the rescue of countless horses through the old Camelot Horse Network on Facebook. I found my first horse, whom I've since retired to a life of leisure, through Camelot. Later, looking for a reliable rescue to donate feed sack coupons to, both a fellow horse rescuer and my equine dentist suggested HHER saying every single penny goes right to their equines. How can you beat that?! I've since made many donations big and small knowing Lisa and HHER work tirelessly to help horses, donkeys and mules get a safe landing and a new lease on life. They get whatever they need for however long it takes to get a chance to be adopted to the best homes or they find life long sanctuary with Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. And I feel great knowing I can be a very small part of a second life for these sweet souls.
Helping hearts has made a huge difference in the lives of several horses who needed help the most! Along with rescuing them, they spend the time to bring them back slowly to they're former glory! These horses that are rescued by helping hearts are given a second chance at lofe and love!
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is a wonderful example of responsible and sustainable animal care. They do a professional job on a daily basis for all their animals in need, but more importantly they have structured their program to plan for the lifetime of each animal and they know their limits. This means that they will be able to be there not just for the immediate need but for the life of the animals that they rescue. I applaud the care and planning that goes into each and every intake and their commitment to excellence.
I am beyond fortunate and honored to have this amazing rescue in my town. They are above 5 stars and the education and learning that is freely given is priceless.
When I see the eye of a horse change from despair to peace in I know HHER is doing it right. This NP is worthy of your support.

I had adopted Mason from this wonderful organization years back. I have seen first hand the compassion, dedication, love and commitment from the onset of receiving a needy resident to the completion and adoption of a for legged family member. Love, experience, dedication and provision of all medical elements needed is the standard for this worthy Rescue. Lisa, you and your staff are amazing and I love your for what you did by rescuing Mason and allowing me to adopt him only after you brought him back to good health. You are the most dedicated Rescue ever. Please, research Helping Hearts Equine.. and you will see as I did... they are amazing and do amazing things for these needy equine.. and others too.. The Best Ever!!!
Visited with my daughters horsemanship club and the tour Lisa gave was wonderful. The girls got to groom a horse and pet donkeys and mini horses and rabbits and a pig! I follow The rescue and Lisa on Facebook and have learned that what she showed the girls is a small small part of how she helps animals and conservation EVERY day and not just cute cuddly ones either but also amphibians and insects! Lisa and her org are awesome!!!
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is just that, all heart! The love and compassion they show for the abused and neglected is truly heart warming. They step up in time of dire need to do the right thing for the horses that are so in need. The action I truly appreciate are the constant updates for their followers. From pictures to videos it's wonderful to feel apart of it when you're sitting behind a computer screen. I as a doner have so much respect for what they do on a daily basis.
I have been impressed with the holistic, gentle approach in which horses are rehabilitated at Helping Hearts Equine Rescue.
A kind and experienced founder and loving volunteers make it an outstanding Rescue.
I watch the amazing work that they do for the animals that they bring into their program. Most are the last ditch cases and they are diligent in making the animals lives comfortable with dignity. I donate when I am able.
I've watched Lisa rescue difficult case after difficult case. Every soul benefits from her experience, knowledge, and deep love of horses. Recently, she brought in a horse that I once knew. He is in rough shape but she fights for him every day. I'm so grateful Lisa and Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is there for the most desperate.
I adopted a wonderful horse named Logan from this rescue in 2013. HHER is very professional and very well run. They make sure the horse is the most important thing in the rescue and adoption process. HHER is a topnotch rescue.
Helping Hearts has been rescuing horses from the auction/kill pen for many years... These horses usually aren't ride-able and have many medical problems... To some they are disposable junk to be thrown away... But to the people from Helping Hearts there life's deserve to be saved from the cruel kill buyers and slaughter houses... Here are just two of the horses, Charlie and Scotty rescued by Helping Hearts that I fostered... Sadly both have passed on but because of Helping Hearts they where saved from a horrendous death and lived out their life's in peace... This is a noble cause...
I adopted two horses from HHER. The process is thorough on both parts of the adopter and the horse. Care is taken to make sure it is the best match for the sake of the horse and the adopter. Adoption contract is thorough and covers all issues that may arise ensuring the horse comes first and is always taken care of. HHER is the best rescue out there in terms of the needs of the horses being met. HHER is an inspiration for doing Rescue well.
I had to choose "general member of the public" for my 'role', however I own a PA rescue (HeartSong Haven). I greatly admire the folks at HHER for proven dedication they have shown to rescuing horses. HHER is truly a blessing to those equines unfortunate enough to find themselves in a bad way. I follow many other rescues, and don't know very many that are as dedicated as they are.
Lisa and Helping Hearts do a phenomenal job! They helped rescued horse who surely would have died a terrible death and have kept her safe!
From the moment I started following Helping Hearts Equine Rescue I knew it was a special place. The knowledge and dedication of the owner/founder, Lisa Post, is unprecedented. She always puts the well being of the animals first. Since becoming a volunteer I’ve seen, first hand, the transformation of dozens of animals in her care. I’ve seen them blossom from neglected and fearful beings into loving and beautiful horses and mules with the opportunity for long and healthy lives.
Helping Hearts Equine rescue does an amazing job providing top notch care for all their equines and other critters in their rescue. Lisa and her crew go above and beyond networking horses in need and educating the public. There efforts have saved thousands of horses lives and they continue to work tirelessly to end animal
abuse and help owners make better decisions.
We adopted my daughters first pony Rosie, from Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. Rosie was saved from a kill pen at an auction house pregnant, lame and sick. Helpingbhearts rehabbed her backed to health and she turned out to be the best pony ever.
I follow this organization regularly and donate whenever possible.
All of my donations have been used as directed and the progress made is clearly documented.
I prefer to donate locally and this is one of the best local animal rescues to donate to if you want to make the most of your donation dollars.
This is a fabulous charity. Lisa works long, endless days caring for animals in need. This is a first class operation which I have viewed personally
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue and Lisa Post are fantastic ! The work they do to help horses in need is outstanding and is so appreciated in our community . It takes long hours and dedication to run a rescue properly and Lisa Post is a great example for others to follow. The horses received medical care , farrier services , and educated feeding programs . The volunteers are a huge asset to the success of the rescue and so are the many who help support with needed donations. I applaud the work they all do and am proud to donate when possible. Thank you Helping Hearts and Lisa Post ! Sincerely, Coeli Netsky
I volunteered to help the poor abused animals and to be truthful every time I go to the barn it’s them that help me!
They all have a story but at Helping Hearts they find love compassion and finally a safe place. I feel the stress of everyday life lift off my shoulders. Lisa Post does an amazing job with her team of volunteers to help animals find a safe place after they are often neglected or no longer wanted. She is amazing at what she does.
Horse rescue is demanding hard work that taxes resources, so I visited HHER expecting to see a rough and ready place run by hard working, dedicated people. I was delighted to find a truly well run, impeccable barn, with a high standard of care and knowledge, run by said hard working dedicated people. I am also very impressed by what Lisa Post has achieved with regard to saving the lives of many vulnerable horses via networking.
I have seen them rescue horses big and small and bring their health and comfort up with the day by day caring. It's a hard job physically, financially and emotionally. Where possible, horses are adopted out but many come for their later years. The only reward is seeing the horses improve and live out their days in love and comfort.
A great organization that helps horses in need! Animals that are ill and in crisis are given medical care, quality stables, and loving human care and companionship.
I have a friend who loves horses and spends time at HHER. I love hearing about her time there because I know it’s good for her soul, so I’m thankful a place life this exists.
Wonderful rescue. They take in as many horses as they can and the before and after transformations are amazing. They really know what they’re doing to rehabilitate neglected and injured horses.
This rescue is amazing. They truely care for these horses. Ive seen horse come from skin and bones to looking like a brand new horse under Helping Hearts care. Thank you for all you do!
I have happily supported Helping Hearts Equine Rescue since 2010. Lisa, her volunteers, and vet can always be counted on to provide the best care for horses in need. This rescue always provides photos and updates on their rescue horses
which is so important for those of us who can only keep in touch and donate via the internet! Donations are so important for the quality of care that Lisa and her dedicated crew provide for the health and wellbeing of HHER’s horses. When a horse arrives at HHER it is quarantined for the appropriate amount of time, usually 30 days, examined by the HHER vet, and evaluated as to its most pressing needs. Refeeding, worming, floating teeth, shots, whatever the new intake might need to begin a new life and hopefully thrive in order to be adopted, are all carefully considered by Lisa and her vet. Some horses may need to retire at HHER due mostly to advanced age. If so, rest assured the horse, pony, mini, or donkey will receive the ultimate care until it’s time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
So in closing, if you want to donate to an equine rescue that always puts the horses in its care first, chose HHER!
When you look at non-profits you are always looking at how much of the money donations goes to help the, in this case animals, and how much goes to management. I had the pleasure of volunteering at HHER and saw first hand that all donations go to the care of these animals. Now that I have moved away I always feel good when I send a donation that it is used on the animals.
BEST use of donations ever. Also the care and love that is given is above and beyond my own personal expectations.
Wonderful non-profit!!! This non-profit goes above and beyond to help horses in need. They will even use their network to tirelessly try to find a home for an unwanted horse.
This is one of the best rescues I have ever come in contact with. Lisa is awesome , compassionate , incredibly knowledgeable, and helps all species. She is a champion for Animals, advocating fiercely! Her love, and determination knows NO Boundaries. She is , simply put, amazing.
I have never seen such a well run, responsible rescue. Helping Hearts takes in some very bad cases and the animals come out winners.
AmaIng people who do amazing work! Can’t wait to visit in person- following along on their work on Facebook is great but just not the same!
Lisa and her helpers are conscientious and compassionate to the animals that they rescue. I’m happy to support this quality organization
Seeing the care and dedication of the staff at this particular horse rescue is a beautiful thing. There is a good rapport with the vet, dentist and farrier in each individual case, which is paramount to the well being, health, and happiness of each horse. Keep up the good, but hard work you do!!
I have frequently donated to helping hearts when they are raising funds to save a horse/pony from going to slaughter. If they have the room they will always bring a horse in desperate need of a safe landing.
I've been volunteering at Helping Hearts for five years. So much good work being done for horses, mules, minis who have somehow been discarded. They find a soft place to fall and then are on their way to find their next chapter.
HHER is the reason I found my heart horse, the horse who changed my life and has been by my side through many difficult years of loss in my life. These things I’ve been through may not be directly related to the work that HHER does, but because of them and because of Lisa I had my best friend, my horse, there to keep me standing and help me move forward while I walked through the worst few years of my life. Lisa allowed me to adopt a young horse who is strong willed and opinionated and he has become my partner, my teammate, my greatest challenge, my biggest accomplishment, and my best friend. The work that HHER does for animals in need is astounding, and there are barely words to describe how incredible they are.

I found my horse at Helping Hearts and was instantly in love with him and this nonprofit. The work that HHER does for animals is without a doubt some of the hardest and most emotional work that one can do strictly out of the goodness of their heart. I admire this organization and have the utmost respect for them. The care they give the animals that they take in goes above and beyond the normal standard of care. There are not enough words in the english language to describe how wonderful this organization is.
Love HHER! I’ve been following and supporting them for many many years. Amazing work they do caring for animals in dire need. The hours, $$$, time, and effort they spend to rehab the animals is amazing
They do a great work that I can't. They care for equines large and small, young and old. They heal the injured, soothe fears and help the traumatized begin to trust in humans again and for those that can heal only so much they provide a permanent home without expectations. When the time comes when neither body nor spirit can continue they provide a safe loving space for transition. HHER ensures that none which come under their care are ever forgotten or abandoned or abused or neglected again. No animal is taken for granted and no animal is asked to engage beyond their current ability- HHER works hard to build mutual respect and trust between the humans and equines to help the animals overcome past challenges and emotional constraints. Sadly there is not shortage of need for equine rescues and while there are a number of rescue orgs out there, HHER is truly one of the best; the transformation photos of their horses, burros and mules says it all. This organization also practices a level of transparency regarding an animal's progress not always seen among rescues, which is important when donating money- donors know how and where donations are being used and HHER doesn't hide when manufacturer's provide free vaccines or supplements. etc- it's all out there for donors to see in advance. Everyone gets a chance to share in HHER's successes, challenges and difficulties through their online postings so even though donors might be in another state it feels like we're also intimately involved in daily activities. HHER treats their donors with the same respect as they view the animals, we're not just whatever amount we can give, even if it's small, we're part of the team and part of the work
Helping hearts is an amazing rescue that not only helps animals in need, but goes above and beyond to find them the perfect home. I adopted both of my horses from Lisa and will never adopt a horse from anywhere else. She is extremely knowledgeable about what she does and thanks to her, I was able to find my dream horse(s). Thank you helping hearts equine rescue!
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue (HHER) is an amazing organization. Because of dedication, advocacy and vision of its founder and President, Lisa M Post, thousands of equines have gotten a second chance in life. But it is not just equines that benefit from this rescue; Helping Hearts is home to goats, chickens, donkeys and even a "pardoned" Thanksgiving turkey and a rescued starling that says "here kitty kitty"! I recently adopted a wonderful horse from Helping Hearts, one that faced a very uncertain future if not for landing at HHER.

I have watched Helping Hearts work for 10 years and the care given to all the Raines they rescue is phenomenal. The day to day care, medical care, etc. Is absolutely wonderful. Humans don't get cared for this well. Our hospitals, nursing homes etc., should take lessons from Helping Hearts. And every penny donated to them, is used for the rescues. There are NO administration fees. Every dollar is used for the rescues care!
This is my all time favorite animal charity. It constantly amazes me what they get done to help horses . Lisa Postshould be cloned!!!!
Everytime I visit Helping Hearts, I am astounded by the peaceful, clean and loving atmosphere. Each animal (from equines to poultry) greets you cheerfully; a testament to the good care and kindness they experience daily. Lisa personally monitors every animal. The animals receive more than food and shelter. They have a home, for however long they need. They have quality food, fresh water, clean bedding, a secure cozy shelter/stall, well fenced green pasture or secure dry lots depending on need and grooming. I especially love seeing the seniors (her specialty in my mind) gain weight, hope and sass with each day they spend in her care. Best of all-Helping Hearts does frequent Facebook updates that make you feel part of the team!
Lisa Post is in one word amazing! I have 2 mini horses from this group and Lisa is here to support me in every way. She truly loves what she does.
I was looking for the perfect horse to come into my life. I have looked into all rescues to try the perfect horse. I was notified from a friend that Helping Hearts may have just gotten the perfect guy for me. I reached out to them and got a reply right away. I was so happy just to be considered as a potential adopter as he had A LOT of inquiries. I went through the adoption process and background check, which was very reasonable to make sure the homes were great (but they also weren't asking for one of your organs either). I was so happy they approved me as an adopter I always prided myself in being a wonderful animal mommy especially since I have been very involved in the veterinary world for almost 10 years and working with animals for almost 20yrs. I went to meet who would eventually become my baby and I just fell in love with him. He had I believe two other potential adopters so I went on the list at #3 and couldn't believe when I got the call. The adoption fees were very reasonable along with the care and records I received with him! I was very happy and would love to adopt from Helping Hearts next time I am looking to add to my family.
Many years ago I found a pony at a farm that was emaciated. I got the owner to sign the pony over and took the pony to Lisa. She took him in, no questioned asked, and nursed him back to health and found him a good home. There was never a single "no" when it came to helping this pony. She does a great job caring for all types of animals. I rate her rescue five stars.
I have limited experience with rescues but have heard good and bad. Fortunately I lucked into what is probably America's Premier Professional Rescue. When searching for my rescue, I was drawn to a 9 month old blue eyed, medicine hat pony that had run through an auction within his mother's womb. Along side his mom was his twin brother. Thanks to HHER. They were all rescued. I have my guy to this day, he was a twin but unfortunately the twin didn't make it. Helping Hearts took him in and I was one of the many that applied for adoption. HHER does have strict requirements for adoption and Thank God I met them. Down the road HHER even took lakota's aged mom in to let her live out her life in a good way. This Rescue does above and beyond when it comes to doing it RIGHT! I have seen them take back adoptees rather than let the adopter stress out about what to do when they cannot keep their horse for one reason or another. I give HHER ★★★★★ PLUS★ ONE MORE STAR for all they do. Thank you Lisa and company!
Amazing rescue. They responded to a horse in desperate need within 2 hours. The horse was severely neglected. Now, Helping Hearts has her, and is on the road to recovery. Thank you for all you do.
I was touched by how dedicated and compassionate they are rescuing horses from slaughterhouses. Lisa Post from HHER it is Lisa's life's mission to help abused, starved and sickly horses become healthy again and find forever homes for them. I donate to her cause because I believe in her.
This farm is heavenly. The creatures that find their way here have definitely found a wonderful place to recover from the pain/neglect/misfortune of the past. It is run professionally, and the volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful. When I went to see a horse I was interested in, I was given an honest and complete history. That's what you need when you decide to make a commitment to adopt a horse. I would not hesitate to highly recommend!
The work Lisa does is amazing , she goes above and beyond for all the animals in the rescue and never gives up on anyone. Best rescue I have come across!!
I enjoy watching the great care taken for each horse. Regular posts on social media allow everyone to see the great work provided by this organization. And there is always joy watching a once needy horse feel love.
Ive know lisa for many years, she taught me how to ride when i was younger. I was her working student for a few years and she always did what she could for me and anyone else that corssed her path (both animals and people!) Her rescue has helped and healed my horses, and gave them a second chance at life! Helping hearts is an amazing rescue!!!

I visited to do a massage on Simone a rescue mule from new holland. She is an older work mule and she gets to enjoy her retirement now after many years of hard work.
Having worked with horses and experienced the "horseworld" and the people in it equally as long, I am here to attest that people like Lisa Post at Helping Hearts are rare and precious. Lisa is 100% genuine, her life is her work and her work her life; there is no grandstanding or ulterior selfish motives in her efforts, just pure concern and unbeatable talent and knowledge being used for the benefit of her wards.
Lisa is one of the few completely professional and trustworthy figures in 21st century rescue, and there is no person or organization that can claim superior results in equine welfare.
Lisa's small but very effective organization has helped many horses in need. The rescued animals here receive top notch care and retraining and then go on to find loving forever homes or remain as treasured permanent residents. I am proud to support this very worthwhile organization.
I have been following the work of Lisa Post and Helping Hearts Equine Rescue for several years. She has bee responsible for saving hundreds of horses, getting them back to health and finding them new loving homes. She has my deepest respect for the work that she does and my gratitude for finding the horses homes.
The level of care that equines and other animals receive as residents of Helping Hearts is as good as it gets, in my opinion. Many other people would have (& some actually had) given up on some of these residents, yet, Lisa tirelessly strives to provide the best care for all of her charges and the best course of treatment for an animal's health issue, even if it means seeking out and trying an unconventional treatment protocol. She is also fortunate to have good staff and volunteers to assist with the day-to-day, and more. Any donations received are put to good use and for the full benefit of the animals at HH.

This rescue has been in my little circle of donation recipients for several years now, and I have come to know, without a doubt, that Lisa takes animal welfare seriously, is extremely dedicated to all of her animals, is very knowledgeable and open to any manner of treatment which might benefit any of her charges. She applies her tenacity and determination to healing and nurturing animals when others might not see a light at the end of a tunnel; at least, that's my impression of her. Though one might find another person with a similar level of compassion, one would be extremely hard-pressed to find ANYONE else who would be a more dedicated and tireless advocate for those whose lives which would be otherwise lost or neglected. She and her group of volunteers really and truly are deserving of Top-Rated Status.
Under Lisa and Chris' care, I have seen many, many horses go from starved & scared, whether from auction, owner surrender or abandonment, to happy, healthy animals - many ready for loving adoptive families. Those with chronic ailments or advanced age, will more likely than not, find themselves Permanent Residents, assured to live their remaining years in comfort & love. Foals have started their lives under the watchful eye of HHER, never having to experience the trauma of an auction at the start of their young lives.
The souls who's lives are at an end, are treated with dignity, respect and are helped to cross the Rainbow Bridge without suffering. And its always a sad day to learn when one has crossed. They go knowing no fear, that their golden years were spent being cared for and loved.
Anyone wanting to adopt an 'HHER Graduate', must complete an application process & undergo a through screening process. If at any time an adoptive family can no longer care for the animal, he or she comes back to HHER.
Bentley's story is a wonderful case. Bentley is a Clydesdale, who was pulled from an auction in April of 2009, severely under weight. Several hundred pounds later, he was ready for adoption. Roughly 2 years later, he was retrieved & brought home, looking far worse than he did when he was brought in to begin with. Because of the health problems associated with the starvation he once again endured, Bentley is now a permanent resident of HHER. You see, I was there when Bentley was brought to the farm from the auction & worked with him on a volunteer basis for a while; I was there just before he left for his adoptive home and I saw the result of his 2 years away - my heart broke... This lovable, gentle giant will forever hold a place in my heart...

Many 'disposable' horses have found new lives thanks to Lisa & HHER... some mares, in foal, have been brought in & had their little ones right on the farm. I have seen horses saved from neglect by their former owners - left abandon when they moved away. Lisa has gone & picked them up, nursed them back to health & adopted them out; I have seen seniors rescued from both the 'auction' here in NJ & the one in PA - horses, that were only seen as a machine to some, when their usefulness over, dumped and destined for slaughter. My heart swells when I see some of the pictures & videos of the 'graduates' from HHER - and sometimes the tears well, knowing that so many of these magnificent animals have found homes; some living out their golden years in comfort, security & with love they so richly deserve .... Thank you, Lisa...
We have supported Helping Hearts Equine Rescue for many years, and are continually impressed by the way that Lisa Post is so dedicated to her rescues. She and her volunteers demonstrate such loving care and respect for these wonderful animals. The unwanted, unloved, abused or just "too old" rescues can live out their lives with dignity thanks to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue.

My husband and I have been donors to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue for several years, and we are continually amazed by Lisa's compassionate dedication to her rescues, and all the animals under her care. She is so personally involved with her equine family, and always is there to give them the love that they need. It is heartwarming to see how the abused and unloved seniors come to spend their golden years under the care of HHER. We are proud to be supporters on a monthly basis, and have encouraged friends to do the same.
Whether you are looking to make a donation or adopt an animal, Helping Hearts is a charity you can trust. While their focus is on Equine rescue, there are many different animals that have been taken in and found homes through this charity. They are completely transparent. There is no doubt that your donations (monetary and otherwise) are going straight to the care of the animals. The facebook page is a wonderful source of news, updates, photos and videos. I adopted my horse, Honey, from Helping Hearts. The adoption process is thorough, fair, and you are given as much information as possible to make sure you and your companion have the best chance at forever friendship! Helping Hearts is a wonderful charity that I would recommend time and again.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is an amazing organization. I adopted a pony from Helping Hearts two years ago and have been following the rescue since. The facility is beautiful and well-kept. HHER offers a soft landing to unwanted equines. The equines not only receive amazing daily care but each receives individual attention and is clearly loved.

I recently adopted a pony from Helping Hearts, and I cannot say enough good things about the organization. It was evident from my first interaction with Lisa that she puts so much heart into her work. The pony whom I adopted had a rough past, and I cannot imagine where she might be today if it weren't for Helping Hearts. I am so grateful that Helping Hearts swept her up and gave her a second chance. There are so many deserving animals out there that just need some TLC, and Helping Hearts does just that. It is truly an amazing organization!!
I started volunteering in a limited way, at HHER in the summer of 2009. It was one of the best life choices I have ever made. I have learned so much from Lisa Post, who is a dedicated horse advocate and who gives the rescued equines in her care, every chance to be rehabilitated and find a forever home. And if they aren't suitable for adoption, she keeps them as permanent residents. I have been so impressed by her knowledge and by the depth of the care she gives each horse. She was also responsible for creating a group of people who find information about equines at a nearby livestock auction and network that information on social media. Through this group, hundreds of horses have been saved and continue to be saved, from the slaughter pipeline. I feel fortunate that my introduction to horse rescue came from HHER. Wish I could give it 10 stars. Lisa Post is one of my heroes.
There is simply not enough that could be said, this rescue is amazing and often doesn't just stop at horses it helps injured animals such as snakes, in need if adoption critters such as bunnies, goats, chickens everytning you can think of Lisa pours her heart out to help find them wonderful homes. It's much easier to adopt healthy rideable horses people often forget about the used , the neglected, the old the ones who require medical attention but that doesn't stop them if a horse is in need there's no judgement on it's age or condition it is helped, it has a place to sleep at night, it gets top quality medical attention and daily based needs which aren't just things you can get a horse by on it is well thought of diets that meet each horses individual needs and even when they become permanent residents of the rescue they are treated equally as any other horse would, this rescue honestly takes the time and no horse is just adopted out to get it off the property and make it someone else's problem it is a process and one that is set at high standards to make sure that the next owner treats them at just as high of standard. There is so much good to be said about this rescue it truly is any horses dream to end up here and be helped by Lisa
Helping Hearts is a soft place to fall for horses, donkeys, ponies who have been left behind or discarded. They are treated with kindness, fed healthy diets, given medical care and are supported in a myriad of other ways. All of this takes time and money, both of which are in short supply. So many equines fall through the cracks, but with the help of a team of supporters, Helping Hearts helps some of them find new lives.
Any donations go directly to buy food, medicine, boarding. Please consider a donation and give some beautiful horses and equines a chance at a better life.
I stopped by helping hearts to bring items for an event. All Animals are healthy and happy, the place is beautiful and very well maintained.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is a great organization. I adopted a mini from them. Lisa was great and so helpful.
I’ve known about Helping Hearts Equine Rescue since I first adopted two equines from there 8 years ago. I love the care and love that my adopted pony and horse got there. My two future family members were saved by Helping Hearts even though they were not highly adoptable; my beloved pony needed daily medicine for his Cushing’s disease and also had compromised vision, and the horse was gorgeous but un-rideable because of arthritis in his knees. They both also were on the older side. I remain so grateful to Helping Hearts for taking on these needy guys and seeing the value in their lives so that I could find them and add them to my family. Those wonderful equines have since passed on, but I have been helped by Lisa Post to find other perfect-for-me horses who enrich my life every day. Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is wonderful.

Helping Hearts is a wonderful rescue! I adopted two horses from this rescue several years ago, and since then Lisa Post has helped me with information and support every time I have asked. I cherish my horses, who are stictly companions, and this past year when I wanted to start learning to ride, Lisa again helped me connect with a ridable horse who needed a home and who is a perfect match. I am very grateful for the wonderful work that this rescue does. The farm is beautiful and all of the animals in Helping Hearts' care are truely loved and very well cared for. This rescue is a life saver!
We first noticed Helping Hearts by driving by. I fell in love with a horse that was usually outside for us to see. I would later learn that his name is Bentley. He is a magnificent Clydesdale and happens to need a bit more TLC than your average person can handle. Lisa Post is the Superwoman of horse caretaking. She and the workers and volunteers at Helping Hearts go above and beyond to care for the animals that live there every day. We have since become one of Bentley's Benefactors sending funds to aid in his care on a monthly basis. We send extra funds for the other horses, and animals as well when we can. My daughter has also become a riding student of Lisa's which fosters her love of working with animals, especially horses. She hopes to volunteer there someday when she is old enough. The work being done here each day comes from a genuine place in the hearts of the people who work there.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is not only a salvation for horses ..The meticulous care these beautiful neglected animals receive at Helping Hearts is above and beyond the norm. The attention and love given to these wonderful souls on a daily basis is tremendous....the transformation so heartfelt and inspiring.....just brings tears to your eyes. I am honored to contribute to this wonderful Rescue. God Bless....
HHER is an amazing rescue, Ive been there a few different times and im in awe every time I go. Every soul matters, as it should be in life. The help they offer to save these lives is extraordinary. I tell everyone I know about them. Im glad that they were recognized for all that the y do
This wonderful Rescue has truly proven the test of time... Lisa caring ways ARE WAY beyond any average Non Profit Rescue. She cares about EVERY living creature. She never ceases to IMPRESS me and I am a hard case. HHER is billed as an equine rescue, but it is so much more.. She saves Rabbits and Goats and chickens and the smallest of things. Loving her wards, is her life. Day in and day out ...she tirelessly looks for GOOD homes to give her critters a second chance at a loving home and better life. This Rescue and Lisa...in one word: AMAZING!
4 years ago after almost crossing the bridge myself I decided on finally rescuing my first ever horse. I found Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. The expertise, love, knowledge and care given by HHER to each and every rescue made it possible to adopt my very first horse at a very older age. Lisa at Helping Hearts made sure this boy was perfect for me. She has an innate sense of what horse would work with just the right person. She rides and trains each horse before she places them up for Adoption and has intimate knowledge of each horses capabilities. This lends itself to better outcomes and forever homes. Her famous line is we always take our rescues back should a change in home or health situation arise. She's always available for questions always directing you to the best possible vet, farrier supplement or feed! Anything there is to know about the care of equines from mins to Donkeys, zonkeys on up to drafts and senior horses she knows it and if for some reason she can't, she directs you to someone who can!! These last 4 years have been the best I can remember all because one person saw a need to stop horses from going to slaughter!! Lisa Post and Helping Hearts are the real Heros for everything they have accomplished in saving not only horses lives but my life as well!
I learned about Helping Hearts Equine Rescue through a friend's facebook. I kept reading about all the wonderful horses that were being taken in and cared for by this Lisa and her volunteers and I became a donor. This winter was particularly snowy, yet regardless of the unforgiving weather, the Helping Hearts Equine Rescue continued to generously provide care and shelter for horses in need. I am deeply touched by HHER's sincere dedication to the welfare of horses.
Almost 3 years ago I adopted my mare from Lisa at HHER. Lisa is tirelessly dedicated to helping these horses find good homes, and I'm glad I passed muster! I continue to make yearly donations because I am positive my money will be put to work wisely.
Lisa and her crew are amazing people. I have donated to them when I can and they are always so Thankful. If I lived closer I would be there to volunteer. I have owned two horses in my life and worked for two farms. It is not easy work and Helping Hearts has to deal with not only the physical end of caring for horses, but the mental and emotional aspects. They are a wonderful rescue and I hope they continue the great work they do, I wish there was not a need for rescues but until then they are angels on Earth.
I've been following this rescue for a few years and they take wonderful care of the horses. It's great to see how quickly the horses blossom under their care.
I have my own farm and am committed to my horses for life. They take a lot of time, energy, commitment and money. I have known about Lisa and Helping Hearts for about 7 years and have been contributing financially to help her rescue. I have very high standards for caring for my animals and I have seen Lisa demonstrate that same level of excellence with every horse she rescues. Most recently I adopted from Helping Hearts as a companion for my one horse. I am lucky every day to have added this wonderful horse and it breaks my heart to think about how many are not saved. Helping Hearts is a top notch rescue and every dollar goes to the horses!
Horses require so much time and money that even a small change in an owner's life circumstances - or the horse's health - can be disastrous to the horse. HHER does a great job in taking care and placing horses whose owners, for whatever reason, can no longer provide adequate care. If you have a horse and can afford contributing, consider contributing to a horse rescue; there may come e a time when you can no longer care for your horse and a horse rescue will be the only humane alternative.
When consider in making donations to a charity HERR is my first choice. I know every dollar of my donations go directly to the care and upkeep of the horses but that is not the only reason I chose to support this organization. The love, compassion and diginity that is shown to these majestic creatures is amazing. If I was an animal I could only hope that I would land in the care of HERR. The love that is given to every animal and the love that is shown when one is lost has brought me to tears. If The world showed half of the compassion that is given to the horses to each other what a better would this would be
I volunteered helping out on the farm. What I saw there was nothing but amazing treatment of all the animals. Proper conditions, including psychological conditions. Lisa's whole heart is in this place. The staff and all of the volunteers are amazing. It was definitely one of the best experiences of my life.
Helping Hearts is a wonderful place that rescues horses that are abused and neglected. They take wonderful care of these animals and I am very proud to volunteer there. They truly love these animals and will do everything they can to save them. I have learned a lot of what goes into rescuing animals. It's a place I look forward to volunteering there.
Helping Hearts was the rescue that got me inovlved in horse rescue.. They go above and beyond to help their horses and they take horses others turn away.. the do there best to find good homes and when homes don't work out they take them back and start the process over.. They also do the most for their seniors that they can assuring them they will have a home until they cross the rainbow bridge.. I
Helping Hearts is one of the rescues that I wish I lived close enough to to be a volunteer. I have total admiration for the work that Lisa does and fully support this rescue. They do rescue right!
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is life-changing for any horse fortunate enough to be saved by them. They have a healthy, safe, loving and happy future. Their lives are changed forever no longer having to endure abuse, starvation and cruelty. They learn how to be horses and not fear humans by the very professional, knowledgeable and extremely patient care given. Whether equine, animal or human (like me!) to be touched in some way by Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is to be lucky. :)
Helping Hearts was there for me when I had to relinquish my horse after I lost my job. My girl is older and I left her in the care of a "friend" when I moved cross country for a job. The volunteers at Helping Hearts went out to the farm to take pictures of Gracie and removed her when they found her to be in deplorable condition. She was nursed back to health over a period of time and is now available to go to a long term foster home.
I love how all of the horses have value even if they are way past their prime. I trust that the person that adopts Gracie will be adequately screened and will care for her until her last days. I love how 100% of the donations go directly to pay for the horses' care instead of paying for administrative fees. This is an EXCELLENT nonprofit and deserves to be noticed for its accomplishments!!!
I have watched Helping Hearts Equine Rescue and their response to the needs of horses in trouble, and I have been very impressed with their organization and willingness to step in to help unwanted horses. It is heartbreaking to see so many horses dumped at auctions whose only chance would be to be taken in by a rescue stable. Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is my choice!
I have been looking for an equine rescue to volunteer for and helping hearts equine rescue welcomed me on board. Lisa worked very hard to create a relaxing atmosphere and it has been just that . Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help. I come in and I know exactly what to do , all the volunteers work together it really is like a family. On top of all of that Lisa really does the impossible she takes the blind , the old , the scared, the green , the thin and after just a month or two these horses are blossoming. It is mission impossible and while the horses have been getting the confidence they need to gallop into someone's heart, helping hearts gave me confidence to be a better person. I have been able to gain more patience, have an open mind and finally find a place where no matter how hard life gets I know I can go there and none of those problems will matter because what I do and the time spent with these horses overpowers with positive energy and gives you the boost you need to keep your day going. And one day when I am ready to have my own horse I will not go anywhere but to Lisa to help me find my dream horse !
Where can I start? I had a major medical event 3 years ago which can get one to start putting their life into perspective. After a brief 5 mins I realized that my only dream, my only true love in my life was finding my forever horse. My husband found Helping Hearts for me. Lisa was most generous with her time and probably the most experieinced horsewoman I had ever met. She guided me with kid gloves into purchasing my first horse from auction as I had told her I wanted to save a horse from slaughter. He was a huge draft, approximately 15- 17 yrs old that was slated for slaughter. He was thin, had rain rot but there was something about his eyes that drew me right to him. Helping Hearts board members and Lisa were there every step of the way to assist me in my purchase and subsequent quarrantine time. It has been 2 years and he and I just completed our first dressage test. We recieved 2nd and 5th place . Not bad for a thrown away work horse! So far my health has improved the doctors say because of my riding and caring for my boy! I will be eternally grateful that there are rescues like Helping Hearts that places the horse first and foremost. For without them I would never know the joy of partnering with my boy! Thank you Lisa and HHER! You saved not only my boys life that day but mine!

I am currently working with Helping Hearts to find my forever horse. I have some special requirements and that is being taken into account. i have been to their facility to meet some of their adoptables and I can tell how much dedication, love and committment HelpingHearts has towards their rescues. These horses have the love and expertise they need to reach their full potential. The facility itself is very expansive and there are loads of pastures with rich green grass to nosh on. Volunteers of all ages are around to brush them and generally give them the affection they deserve. I know that when I do find my horse that it will absolutely be the right one for me...! I would also like to mention that without the founder of Helping Hearts dedication, we would have lost many horses to slaughter.
Review from Guidestar
I have been helping out and volunteering for helping hearts equine rescue for over the past year and it has been life changing for me and the horses , the owner of the farm Lisa always has an assignment for the volunteers that will help us get to know the horses as well as work with those in need to help rehabilitate them so that they can be adopted out . We are always doing fundraisers and other things to help keep the rescue running. All of our intakes come in horrible conditions and just weeks to months later they look stunning !!! I look forward to volunteering every Thursday and Saturday and as long as the rescue is there I will always do whatever I can to help out because I've never felt so rewarded as I do when I am there !! This truly is an amazing organization
I have purchased many items from HHER and every transaction is quick, easy, and a pleasure. I also actively follow their announcements and have watched horses in their care arrive in deplorable conditions only to be fully rehabilitated and 150% better than they ever could have been. Lisa and her organization are top notch and I recommend them to everyone.
I've been watching this organization and they have been so helpful in saving so many horses before going to auction or getting slaughtered. They have made such a difference in New Jersey who by the way has the most horses in the country! KUDO TO LISA AND HHER
I adopted a pony from Helping Hearts 2 years ago, Oliver was everything I was looking for and I was almost in tears when I heard his story. He came emaciated and his teeth were horrible, Helping Hearts nursed him back to health and put him back on the road to trusting people again. If not for them, my Ollie, would certainly have died. I cannot rate them any higher and I would adopt again from them. The love and compassion they show is staggering, just wonderful, caring people.
This rescue does an amazing job saving horses from the auction. They post horses that don't sell at the auction and network to find them homes. They provide vet care for rescued horses and try to rehome them.Great job on educating about horse slaughter.
I am a private rescuer and turn to HHER alot! They help me place, do courtesy listings, etc. I have seen the work that they do first hand for a few years now. They give these horses and other equine a chance at life. Even when the animal is not perfect, they help place them into the perfect home for their needs. However long it takes, they are committed to every equine that the take under their wing. KUDOS to HHER!
Helping Hearts Rescue is the best! These noble and trusting animals need this rescue. Every rescue is given the same love and care as if it were their very own. I wish I could give it more than five stars. Please generously support HHER. The horse is the State Animal of New Jersey. Slaughter is not an option!
When reviewing this rescue for our organization to donate to - I was impressed with everything about it. Seems like people who are using their animal and internet skills to help these horses. The rescue founder has a tag line: Slaughter is NOT humane euthanasia. "The captive bolt is not a proper instrument for the slaughter of equids, these animals regain consciousness 30 seconds after being struck, they are fully aware they are being vivisected." -Dr. Lester Friedlander, DVM & former Chief USDA Inspector
SLAUGHTER of HORSES is NOT acceptable - - - click here: http://hher.webs.com/apps/blog/entries/show/848006-my-signature-tag-line-
I thnk this tagline more than anything got my attention on Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. GO HHER!
I support this rescue because they are a relevant to my interest in healthy horses and cultivating good relationships between people and horses. They are dedicated to what they do, active in the horse world and responsible in their fundraising efforts. As a donor, I am CERTAIN that my contributions are being used in exactly the way they were intended. They give personal touch when expressing their gratitude and make me wish i lived closer to them so that i could become not only a donor, but a volunteer. Well worth supporting.
I got to know Helping Hearts Equine Rescue a few years ago through a Facebook group that helped save horses from the slaughter pipeline. Often they were one of the core rescues that would step up for those horses truely in need when all other hope seemed lost. Although I lived nearly an hour away, I went to visit the rescue and was so moved by the love and care, and beautiful environment that these horses were lucky to have found their way into. Each horse had its own story and its own plan for rehabilitation or retirement. A few months later I went back for a volunteer day and spent an afternoon cobwebbing the stalls of the horses in quarantine, and grooming a lovely older horse named Amber. I highly recommend this rescue to anyone who loves horses or really any animal (they have a whole managerie!). Your volunteer time would be welcome and your money would be carefully used.
Helping Hearts Equine Rescue (HHER) is doing a great job rescuing and placing horses. In my experience, not all rescues are created equal,so I wanted to see this facility and meet the management.HHER takes in abandoned and neglected horses and also rescues slaughter bound animals. They have also started and coordinated an internet movement that has pulled 600 plus horses from NJ feed lots in the past 6 months. They check references and horses are adopted out with a lifelong contract. Please support their efforts
