Watching the work that gets done daily at Helping Hand Rescue Mission is nothing short of amazing. They are always ready with a smile and a helpful hand to feed and to clothe the community. Truly a blessing to our town and to those in need!
The work that Kim Gambino and volunteers do each day is truly remarkable. They provide food, clothing, household and baby items to those seeking help. Each kind volunteer provides the client with dignity, items they need and shows each individual how much this community cares about them. It is our pleasure to help them meet their mission!
The Helping Hands Rescue Mission is an amazing organization servicing the Huntington Community. Kim and her team go above and beyond to be sure that families in need are treated with dignity, respect and care. As a longtime partner of the mission, it is a pleasure seeing the families grow over the years. We are always happy to help and support the Helping Hands Rescue Mission.
HHRM helps so many people in so many ways. It starts with basic needs such as food, clothing, diapers, and school supplies given by the community and organized through this wonderful organization. It goes above and beyond by providing joy with summer family fun days, easter baskets, Christmas parties and gifts. Whatever HHRM can do to put a smile on it's client's faces, to alleviate a worry, to help a family, it does. All of this is done with love and without asking for anything in return.
I have volunteered over the past 5 years at the Helping Hands Rescue Mission. I can’t say enough good things about Kim Gaines Gambino and the Mission! Each week they serve approximately 200 families by providing a hot meal, food, and a community closet. They go out of their way to help anyone in need.
Special outreaches include a Monthly Baby Blessings where mothers receive a hot breakfast and shop for free! Best First Day Ever provides backpacks filled with the exact age appropriate school supplies each child K-12 needs. This year that was 1500! Thanksgiving boxes with all the food needed for a Thanksgiving feast including a turkey are distributed each November. At the annual Christmas party, families come and receive gifts for their children. For most, this is the only Christmas gift they will receive! Easter baskets are also provided each Spring. An annual coat and warm clothing drive is held each fall.
These are just some of the many events I have helped with. Kim and staff are always there to help and pray with families in need. Kim’s faith is inspirational and their philosophy is God will provide! And He always does!!
I drove past their site for years. Began donating about a decade ago. An institution in Huntington for years, back to Kim’s parents. So many people know of Kim and the good work that she does. She involves the whole community, and gets help from the local schools and churches.
I retired last year and decided to volunteer here. The amount of needy people served is incredible. Their community kitchen was severely damaged when the sprinklers went off. They are currently fundraising to restore this needed service.
Overall, a great organization.
I have been a volunteer at Helping Hand Rescue Mission for 2 years. I came to them looking to find my purpose in this world. My father had recently passed away and everything seemed upside down. Kim opened her arms to me and allowed to me see the good in the world. People of all ages and backgrounds come to HHRM seeking help because they have been dealt a bad hand. Kim and her teams of volunteers welcome these people with a smile and words of encouragement. The people leave with arms full of food, clothing and sometimes household items, hearts full and love and minds full of optimism.
Each week when its my day to volunteer I have a little hop in my step. Whether the job is folding clothes in the back, reorganizing a rack or greeting the members of our community with a smile, each one it important and helps alleviate the need in our community.
I've been volunteering for Helping Hand Rescue Mission for many years. The work they do from feeding families in need and providing baby supplies and school supplies for the youngest members of our community to keeping our neighbors dressed in warm coats other clothing is nothing short of miraculous. Their tireless efforts make me very proud to help and be a part of the important work they are doing.
