Mission: The mission is to break the cycle of poverty for low-income families by providing permanent affordable housing and comprehensive support services that are intended to improve the quality of life for residents and their children.
Programs: Helping hands owns and operates three apartment communities in central and south phoenix comprised of 156 apartments serving over 400 individuals, more than half of which are children under the age of sixteen. The annual average household income for residents is less than 8,900. Helping hands provides numerous supporting services at all four residence communities as well as rent support. On-site program coordinators provide services to improve the lives of adults and children while breaking the cycle of poverty. Programs include family rental assistance, childcare assistance, english as a 2nd language classes, ged referrals, job readiness classes, women's support groups, financial management classes, utility assistance, furniture and clothing donations, transportation assistance and referral, resident councils, life skill classes, food box referrals and deliveries, general referral services, tutoring and pre-school programs, summer reading programs, summer camps, and community activities.
