Mission: The mission of Helping Hands for the Deaf is to improve the independence and provide affordable housing for deaf individuals in need. HHD achieves this mission through education, social integration, independent living skills, job training, transportation, and affordable housing.
Helping Hands for the Deaf, Inc. is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its charter and fundamental principles, to provide an affordable shelter to people with hearing loss who are suffering from unemployment, underemployment, lack of retirement funds, or have inadequate skills for independent living. In addition, HHD provides tutoring and counseling services for career and educational advancements for deaf individuals that are acclimating to America.
Results: Since our founding in 2013, we have served over 420 clients by helping them find affordable housing, food resources, supplies, employment, job training, literacy, naturalization for Deaf persons new to the US, transportation, financial coaching for credit card management by lowering the interest rate or fees, increasing credit scores, investing in savings accounts, and paying off debt. Several of our clients have been able to start and continue a savings account, get out of debt, and/or purchase a home for the first time in their lives.
