I volunteer at helping hands food bank. One of their programs that I have helped support is their Mobile food program. They deliver food to clients that cant make it to the food bank. 1 story was a mother of 4 who's husband had left for work out of state and took their money card. We brought her an emergency food box but learned that there was way more that we could do. 2 of their daughters have a rare cancer that is painful in their bones and have to go to Seattle Childrens hospital. The mother cant drive because of a medical problem. When we met them they had no family to help them. The food bank volunteers became a family to them. The food bank delivers food once a week to the family and has helped them with christmas last year, get bills paid and made them feel like they had a shoulder to cry on. The food bank doesnt just feed stomaches it helps nourish souls.
