It's always sunny at the Helping Hands Home for Children! It's filled to the brim with positive energy, which emulates from staff, volunteers, and the children!

It's unforunate that a loving family isn't a birth right, but love is abundant for these children at this organization. They have homework help, get to take classes taught by volunteers, are read bedtime stories (something I personally feel makes all the difference in a child's education and, on the grander scale, their life) and the kids are even taken on field trips around the community. It's important to have a strong sense of community and a strong foundation in education, and the children receive both thanks to staff and volunteers.

I have been lucky enough to volunteer at HHH for 6 months and plan to continue it for many more. I love that I am able to be the calming voice at the end of a sometimes hectic day as I read bedtime stories to individual children. The staff cares intensely about the well-being of these kids, and I'm glad to be a part of their support network. Not only do I (hopefully!) help the kids, it helps me, too. I work as a nanny, and it often strikes me as surreal that despite the often horrific backgrounds these kids come from, they, just like the kids I take care of, really look forward to and enjoy something as simple as stories at bedtime. The children are always excited to see me, and I love getting the chance to end my day in such a positive way. I look forward to many more pleas of "one more story" and "read it again!"

HHH really is a healing place for these special children. I have only been volunteering there for a few months, but already I see what a wonderful environment it is for the children. The staff are all well trained, professional, and friendly. It's a great place to get involved by donating your time or money!

Helping Hand is great! I really appreciate the service they provide and how they go about it.

They have created a very positive and consistent environment for the kids they serve. I volunteer during activities and am always impressed with the various opportunities for growth and learning provided to the kids. For example, I love that they have 'specialists' come to offer the kids lessons on gymnastics, painting, performance art, etc.

When you see the kids having fun playing, learning and interacting with one another you know a very good service is being provided here!

I have been volunteering at the HHH for a couple of years now. And the program is wonderful. The children are worth the work. I see the staff working very hard to help the children. This organization is very special and really cares about what they do. I am proud to be a part of such a special group of people and children.

I have very much enjoyed volunteering at Helping Hand Home for Children. The environment is warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly, helpful and wonderful. And the children, from my observations, appear very, very well cared for and glad to be there among these wonderful folks. I plan to continue to volunteer for as long as I can.

Helping Hand Home has been one of the most fulfilling volunteer experiences I have ever had. I originally began volunteering there for extra credit for one my university classes, but have stayed because the kids there and staff are so great. I do bedtime reading once a week and I also play outside with the kids every Friday. Although getting to know the kids can be difficult at first, once they start recognizing you and open up, they really are wonderful and make you feel appreciated and that your volunteering has been worth while. The staff here are also very friendly and helpful and always thank volunteers for their time--HHH is great and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to volunteer in a unique place with amazing people and a great sense of community!

I volunteer every week as a bedtime reader and have really valued the experience. It's great seeing the kids taken care of in a structured yet loving environment. The kids are wonderful.

As far as my experience as a volunteer, I've really loved having this unique volunteer experience - reading bedtime stories is a lot of fun!

I absolutely love volunteering at HHH. It's wonderful to see such a positive and consistent enviroment for the children. The interaction between staff and kids is very caring. To see the kids' positive changes as they've been at HHH is uplifting. I believe that due to several reasons: consistancy with the kids, positive reinforcement, accountability and responsibility - all done with love.
