The executive director, Linda Jay Jackson, is fastidious in her accounting and management of the donations for HHN. Through her associations with Rotary Club and the Nepali medical community, she is able to get more for each dollar raised. She makes sure all money goes directly to service. She has no overhead for staff. Since Jay, as we call her, has lived and worked in Nepal for the US government, she is familiar with many ways to get things done without extra charges. She also makes sure Nepali citizens are the agents of their own assistance. I taught in a school in Kathmandu and held teacher workshops under Jay's direction for several summers. There is no one more brilliant and effective in the non-governmental organization domain.

She brings in people that show community members how to build toilet facilities. She buys the materials and the communities provide the labor. She has scholarship programs and funds medical supplies.
She coordinated, with the help of donated Nepali helicopters, building and heating supplies for Nepalis in unreachable areas after the earthquake.
I have worked under Jay's direction in orphanages and schools for poor children. We have set up a computer lab and I have given teacher workshops on fun ways to teach English. Jay is a saint. She won't even use HHN donations to fund her yearly trips to Nepal.
