I adopted two kittens in 2019 and the experience could not have been better. The cats were vetted, meaning vaccinated, micro-chipped, healthy, altered and socialized. As a result of my experience with CatPAWS I later became a volunteer. I highly recommend this organization for anyone looking for feline companionship.

It took a while after losing my 18-year old "Uni" but when I decided I was ready, I visited several shelters, adoption centers and "pop-ups", but kept returning to Helen Sanders CatPAWS because the adoptees seemed so happy and healthy. I learned each is fostered in a private home and is spayed/neutered, chipped and vaccinated before being offered to the public. I was not pressured and was told "when the time/match is right you will know." I fell in love with a brother/sister and learned I got two for the price of one! I was amazed at the kind spirit of the staff and volunteers at CatPAWS. They are an A+ organization.
All volunteers for Catpaws were helpful, caring, and thoughtful in the adoption process. It definitely helped me to have faith that the cat I chose was the right fit for me based off all the background info they gave me!
We adopted both of our cats with CatPAWS and they have been nothing but amazing with the experience. Extremely communicative and very well informed. You will never feel like you are in it alone and are always so willing to help! They make sure that their cats are always ready to go into their forever home with getting their shots, neutered and EVEN microchipped. CatPAWS is a wonderful and professional organization and will always highly recommended them to anyone looking to bring the joy of cats into their lives.
I have had the best experience with CatPAWS for finding my kitten! I was looking to adopt a solo cat, which is tough since they really do better in a pair - but I am not in a place to adopt more than one. The coordinator I spoke with was informative, personable, and quick to get back to me with updates after inquiring about a specific kitten. I was able to meet and adopt this kitten and couldn't be happier! I have to also thank their fosters because my kitty is a very well behaved boy. Thank you so much CatPAWs for making my first pet adoption so seamless and special!
We adopted from CatPaws in 2019. We first saw the kittens at PetSmart at an event but they were too young for adoption. We learned that the kittens are raised in foster homes and socialized with family members so they are used to daily house noises. After the adoption the CatPaws team kept in touch with us and helped us through a small medical issue. Our cats are now 3 and a wonderful part of our family. We were so impressed with the group that we now volunteer with them.

The foster care within Helen Sanders Catpaws team is amazing! They make an effort to ensure the kittens are socialized with people, other cats, and daily noises like a vaccum cleaner. They also made sure everyone was healthy. When the smallest tested anemic preventing her from bring spayed they made sure she got treatment and was healthy before the procedure. We ended up adopting the litter and couldn't be happier with our experience and our kitties!!

This cat rescue tirelessly works hard to save some of the most at-risk cars and kittens. They pulled my cat Manny from certain death because the shelter vet said he was old and dying. I was going to hospice foster him. Turns out the vet was so so wrong. Manny is now healthy and has been with me for 5+ years!

CatPAWS 10/18/2022
Thank you! We were glad to be able to help with Manny!
I have 4 wonderful cats adopted from Catpaws. The organization is full of dedicated individuals who strive to save kittens and at-risk cats from shelters.

We had such an amazing experience adopting from CatPAWS! Julie was thorough during her interview with us to make sure we could provide a good home for a kitty. We were looking for another cat to give our two year old rescue kitty a playmate. At our appointment, Julie was so patient and kind. We stayed for an hour and a half as she answered every question and let us play with many available kitties! We adopted Marshmallow (formerly Scrappy) and she is a perfect addition to our home. The CatPAWS team reached out to us after to check in, and have been nothing but helpful throughout the process. Not to mention all of the cats come completely vaccinated, mircochipped, dewormed, and spayed! I could not say enough positive things about this organization!

I have just adopted my 3rd kitten from CatPAWS and it has been the most MAGICAL, amazing experience each time!! The kittens/cats are in loving foster homes and all 3 came to me litter box trained. I adopted Pirate, who was missing an eye and had leye doctor trips and surgeries after I got him, and CatPAWS took care of all of the costs for him. And now he is purring next to me and happy as a clam! I always over-donate to this nonprofit because they DESERVE it. The volunteers work tireless hours and give so much of their time and love to these cats and kittens. I'm so proud to be a supporter!

I absolutely loved adopting from Helen Sanders Catpaws! As a first time pet owner I had lots of worries but Beth really took care of us and even accompanied us shopping once we met and decided on a kitty. She spent lots of time to make sure all our questions were answered, and was immediately available when I had questions later.

I lost my wonderful 14-year-old cat and I had been nursing him back to health for a year but something unexpected happened so I have his ashes with me now. I immediately went out to pursue new lives for me. I’ve always had cats all my life . I went through a horrible experience with another rescue organization and decided to Move On and I got referrals from a wonderful couple in Rossmore about a PetSmart in the Los Alamitos area. I went there immediately and proceeded with an adoption of two beautiful black cats with gold eyes., Marina in Waverley otherwise known as midnight and Shadow. They have been exactly as expected for kitties.... they’ve been all over the place in the bedroom .....they have been lively , playful, hungry & using the cat box properly. They are now accustomed to their domain & they have interacted with me . They’ve slept on my bed they are eating out of my hand and playing with toys and we are having a wonderful time getting to know each other. I’m sure other wonderful reports will follow up as they grow. I am so happy to have been treated like a dignified loving animal person and given an opportunity to give new lives to two lovely animals. thank you from the bottom of my heart you are class “A” rescue operation.Very sincerely,
Francesca Perry

Thank you so much for your kind words! We are sorry for your loss and thank you for giving the gift of adoption and a loving homes to new kitties!
We adopted Windsor to bring a kitten to his forever home and to bring happiness to our house . He is wonderful. Neutered, chipped, and shots given. The entire process was easy and I dealt with super great people. They were so informative and know pretty much everything about kittens. I learned so much. Thank you all for your help with bringing Windsor home and he is very happy in his forever home.

CatPAWS 02/09/2021
Thank you for adopting that handsome Windsor!
This is the 2nd kitty we adopted from Helen Sanders CatPAWS. They are so knowledgeable about all their fur babies. Truly a wonderful organization and a special thank you to Beth for all her help and kindness in our recent adoption. HIGHLY recommend.

Thank you for adopting - and adopting again!!
Helen Sanders Catpaws does amazing work. They are truly dedicated to saving and helping cats and kittens. I spotted Freddie (see picture) at my neighborhood Pet Smart adoption center. It was love at first sight. Who could resist those stunning green eyes? Not, me. After filling out an adoption form online, I was immediately contacted by the organization. They asked about my home situation and whether I was an experienced cat owner who could provide a forever home for this darling boy. It was impressive how much care and concern they have for these furbabies. I was able to pick up Freddie the next day. He has been my love and joy ever since. Thank you Helen Sanders Catpaws!

CatPAWS 10/04/2020
Thank you, Jo! So good to see a photo of Freddie. What a wonderful friend.
Absolutely the more caring and efficient cat rescue. When my adopted cat needed additional surgery they made the arrangements, paid for treatment and cared for Leia for a few days after surgery. Looking forward to adopting more when the time is right.

CatPAWS 10/04/2020
Thank you, Pamela! Glad Leia is doing well!
Just want to say what a wonderful organization this is! We searched online for a rescue cat and discovered Helen Sanders CatPAWS, and are now blessed with our furry girl Coral! Erika was great when she called me for our phone interview. I really appreciate how thorough she was with questions. We were approved and then met Eden at PetSmart a couple days later in their adoption room. As soon as we saw Coral we just knew she was the right one for our family. Eden was so helpful and nice. I highly recommend saving a life and adopting thru CatPAWS! It was a great experience.

Thank you very much for your support!
We adopted this little guy over the weekend (during the COVID-19 pandemic, mind you) and the process was easy and safe! We worked with both Eden and Beth. Eden answered all of our questions and was patient with our decision process. Once we had decided, she sent lots of updates and photos of our little one. At pick-up, Beth was very knowledgeable, thorough, and even gave us some of his favorite food and toys to start with. He was very timid and shy when we met him, but it's clear he has been well socialized and loved on. He has adjusted almost completely in 2 days and is so lovable and sweet!

Thank you for your support and for adopting!
I adopted such wonderful new kitties from this group. They were well socialized, confident and friendly. Everyone in this organization is super helpful and always available to answer any follow up questions. I have adopted rescue pets all my life and this group was the very best I've ever worked with. I highly recommend this animal rescue organization. They genuinely care for these sweet cats and kittens and finding them the best possible forever homes.

I am so thankful to Helen Sanders Catpaws! They have provided so much help to stray cats I have come across. I am just a regular person who has come across a few stray cats and I try to help neighbors when they have colonies of cats but my resources are limited and this is where Catpaws has extended me a hand by providing food for these stray cats. They promote TNR and thanks to that I have been able to help my community by making them aware of this option for the community cats. Catpaws ALWAYS find a way to help out cats in need and that is something I truly appreciate!
Volunteers are very passionate about what they do. They really care about saving every animal they can. Highly recommended.
We recently lost 2 elder cats we had for nearly 20 years. We were heartbroken when we stumbled on CatPaws and found our new feline family. Their foster family, dedicated volunteers, continued to care for them while they gained enough weight to be spayed and chipped. We brought them home at the end of June 2019 and they have filled our hearts. This organization is so wonderful and in just the last several months I have been following them I have seen how many rescued cats and kittens they have fostered and placed in forever homes. We have recommended them to friends and family both and know others who found their beloved animals at CatPaws. Can’t say enough positive things about this whole experience and this great organization as well as the dedicated volunteers who keep it going! Our family loves you all! ♥️
As I donor I know adoption isn’t for everyone but I know I can still do my part in the financial fostering of these kittens that would likely have a less fortunate future if not for the kind and loving volunteers of Helen Sanders Cat Protection and Welfare Society. Not only are they helping these little guys they are also providing education to their communities to help more cats live a full and cherished life! How awesome is that?!
Our family has adopted and fostered many cats from CatPaws. They have been so easy to work with, such a wonderful and understanding team! All of our kitties have always been so well cared for, the volunteers are so helpful and generous.

Thank you for being a 'serial adopter'!!
I started volunteering with Helen Sanders Catpaws in 2017 when I ran across one of their kitties in a store. I had put my cat down the year prior due to late stage cancer and just couldn't fill that void just yet. But I saw their volunteer flyer and decided what better way to get my "kitty fix" was to volunteer. It is a great experience to work with so many wonderful people who dedicate so much time and effort to this cause. The time spent is rewarding, fun, and crazy at times with all the cats that come through the organization just looking for their forever home. The personalities and kitty characters I meet is priceless. It only took me about four months to give in and adopt "Marley" a four-year old male from Catpaws. He has brought tremendous love and joy to our household.

Thank you, Adrienne!!
Catpaws has a dedicated and friendly staff. The work they do rescuing cats and kittens, is a lot of work.
Sometimes heartbreaking, many rewards, too.
They help the kitties both medically and socially fit into a new home.
I am proud to be a dedicated volunteer with the catpaws organization.

When I retired to southern California, I was looking for a way to stay active. I had volunteered at another shelter before moving and liked working with animals and the people who love them. I started with CatPAWS and have settled in to a role as database manager. I still help at adoption events, fostering adult cats, and taking kittens to two different assisted living centers every month. I am glad that I work for an organization that gives back to the community in more ways than just cat adoptions. They developed DIY kitten care kits to help community members raise newborn kittens until they are viable at the local shelter and distribute them free of charge. They contribute with spay neuter vouchers. They collaborated with another rescue to start the area's first and only kitten nursery, saving hundreds of kittens in its first six months. This is a great group doing great things.

Thank you for being part of the Team, Lance!
Catpaws is hands down the best nonprofit I have ever dealt with. Not only did everyone quickly respond and give in depth answers to my questions but they always made it clear they care about their organization and the cats they take care of and meticulously interview each candidate to ensure that these animals only go to the best homes. Erica was extremely courteous and even sent my kitty home with a care package full of not only toys (big and small), but an abundant amount of the best wet and dry cat food, supplements, and notes on amount of food for my kitten and where to buy more. Multiple people have also reached out to make sure my kitten is doing okay and if I had any questions etc. They also gave me very good instructions for future vet visits (when, where, what doctor is best). It’s amazing knowing each person who works for this nonprofit really care and their actions prove that the animals are the top priority and nothing else. I am so grateful to have been able to work with them!

My friend used to be a volunteer and referred us. We adopted two kittens as a Christmas surprise for my son this past December. The application process and interview was thorough and quick. We went in to meet all the cats that were available and we were surprised at how loving they were. The foster parents are all amazing, caring and sweet. It was tough to pick our babies but we got the most perfect kitties ever. Helen Sanders CatPaws took care of all the cat’s needs so they were ready to go home fixed, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. Best of all, they offer 2 for the price of 1!

What a beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing with us.
My sister, her kids and myself always visited the kittens and cats on the weekends and it wasn’t long before we decided to adopt. First my sister and her family adopted a kitten and then a little kitten Zyla (now Izzy) adopted me and my boyfriend. Since she was still so little, we couldn’t keep her yet, but got to visit her in her foster home. We were so excited when we finally got to pick her up! At the foster home there were other kittens and another kitten (Merlin) tried to stowaway in my purse. But we had plans for only 1 kitten. Izzy was doing great with us, loving to give cuddles and suckling. But sometimes she seemed bored and we thought about getting a playmate for her. When we saw Merlin was back up for adoption, we knew it was meant to be. He wanted to go home with us from the beginning! Now we have two additions to our family and couldn’t be happier!

Twice the fun and love! Thank you for adopting!
We recently adopted our babies Cali (who is a Tortie) & Max (Grey/black/white) in June 2019. We wanted to add a couple of siblings for our boy Tiger as his sister Lily had just passed away.
We had heard about Helen CatPaws through friends of ours who had adopted their two boys from them. Since we were looking for babies, we saw pictures of our Cali & Max and decided to put through the paperwork to adopt them. We went through the interview process and you could tell that they want only the best for their adoptees. Since our interview was over the phone, it really came through how much the people at Helen CatPaws care.
Once we were "appurroved", we were able to be in contact with the foster family. Normally I'm the type of person who needs to be hands on with our babies, but after speaking with Amanda (the foster mom for Cali & Max), I felt very comfortable knowing they were in great hands for the few weeks they had to stay until they got spayed and neutered.
My husband and I picked them up at Amanda's house. By that time we were so excited to bring them to their new house and their new big brother, Tiger. Cali & Max are now 23 weeks (Cali) & 25 weeks (Max) and are living life at its fullest. Tiger has become the best big brother. Cali loves to sleep with him and Max loves to play with him. We love that Cali & Max were able to bond while at their foster family house.
Adopting from Helen CatPaws was the best decision we made. We would definitely adopt from them again when the time comes.
If you are looking to adopt, please do consider adopting from Helen CatPaws.

Thank you for your wonderful recommendation!
My family had always volunteered time with different charities and I was looking for that one great charity that my family could join and be a part of and grow. I wanted my children to have another dimension in life and have a consistent way they can give back. Helen Sanders CatPaws made that a reality. My entire family including my father have been a part of this organization for a year. We have assisted with everything from fostering, adoptions, education, marketing, promotions, and community outreach. The experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. The organization takes all suggestions or advice from all volunteers and allows you play a significant part in how the organization performs. There is no pressure, but tons of help for any thing you need. I even consulted different employees from organizations such as PetSmart and Petco about Helen Sanders as to what kind of charity it is. All of the references said this is the top charity they have every dealt with in all of the experiences they have had with different charities. I would highly recommend joining this organization as we have and will continue to be a part of it.

Thank you, Family, for being part of the Team!
In mid year 2016 our family found ourselves in need of some new friends for our young (at the time) dog. His older feline friend (Mazie) had crossed over the rainbow bridge and his older dog friend (Greta) was failing, soon to join Mazie on the other side. My wife in her wisdom knew we needed to find a new friend for our young dog so he would not be alone.
My wife had been visiting a cattery in our neighborhood and so we went to look at kitties. There was one kit (who turned out to be two - sisters who look very alike) who she had fallen for. When we got to the cattery I quickly discerned (being the observant fellow I am) that there were two kits she had been seeing at different times.
I said “no way we can split them up”
- they were very attached to each other. My wife’s initial disappointment thinking we were leaving with no candidate kit quickly changed when I said we would like to adopt both of them.
Next day, adoption approved we took them home. Three days later we confirmed they had ringworm spots. We had no clue what to do. CatPaws was everything they said they would be - available to talk, sharing topical meds, sharing lots of information, but most important was the effort that was made to help us, educate us and help guide us thru how to treat this very treatable fungal infection - they encouraged and supported our journey thru ringworm.
Our adoption facilitator, who was one of the never ending helpful CatPaws
People during our ringworm journey, mentioned that the rescue, Helen Sanders CatPaws was in need of volunteers. So I volunteered. And I still do three years later.
I was very impressed with all they had helped with.
In full disclosure I am a CatPaws Volunteer.
In full disclosure CatPaws continues to break the glass ceiling in all its efforts .
I’ve come to know many other rescues all of whom look at our work, CatPaws work, with high regard.
For us it’s always been about doing the right thing for the kits and cats and for our community.
Thanks for reading.

Thank you for being a valuable part of the Team!
Full disclosure! I'm a volunteer with CatPAWS. The rescue was inspired by the legacy of Helen Sanders who was a pioneer in trap/neuter/return and felt community cats deserved care, not death. The organization has grown to focus on taking at risk cats from public shelters, everything from tiny, underage, orphaned kittens to seniors who deserve a quiet home to live out whatever time they have. We believe that the problem of cat homelessness and unnecessary death in streets and shelters is bigger than any one organization, so we provide support and education to the community with spay/neuter vouchers, food, DIY Kitten Care Kits (check that out on the website!) and even medical care when possible. We recently partnered with another organization and the municipal shelter to create a Kitten Nursery, a groundbreaking effort to save more underage kittens, typically the group most likely to die in shelters. Between the cats we take directly, kittens diverted from shelters, spay/neuter vouchers to break the tragic breeding cycle, with the help of our wonderful supporters we improved the lives of about 500 cats a year!
