I have now adopted two dogs from this fantastic rescue group! The first dog was very shy and had many months of rehabilitation before even being ready for adoption. The second dog also had behavior issues that the group dealt with before he was ready to be adopted.

I've visited adoption events held by this group and am impressed by the care they provide the dogs and the diligence they give their screening process. They really seem dedicated to finding the right home for the dog- and homes that take care of the dogs they currently have!

I saw a dog recently that had to have her front leg removed because of a car accident and another dog that had her eye removed because of health issues. They had another dog that was scheduled for surgery to have a tumor removed.

This is a great group that goes above and beyond in the care they provide the animals in their program and the concern and thought they give to finding the best home for their dogs.

Additionally, their adoption events are fun!

This rescue tries to pass itself off as "all volunteer" but of the $29,853 they took in last year almost 66% (yes, that's not a typo, sixty-six percent - $18,311 to be exact) was used for "professional fees and outside contractors". They are paying themselves a salary but not calling it a salary because they classify a few key members as contractors. This group is alway very unethical and their finances should be scrutinized very carefully based on past issues.

As a board member of this organization, I can only say I am disappointed and saddened that this person has had such an unfortunate encounter with us and that they have been provided inaccurate information. While I do not know this person or the exact nature of her experience, I can say that the information provided in this review is largely unfounded.

None of our board members are paid. None of our board members are paid as contractors. Our professional fees are actually paid to vets. We pay vets for spays, neuters, vaccinations, dentals, heartworm treatments, amputations, ultrasounds, radio-graphs, acupuncture, removal of growths, testing of growths, eye removals, etc. We also have substantial costs for medications associated with infections, pain, allergies- plus monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Our expenses actually go to animals in our program that have had serious misfortunes in their lives and were in desperate need of medical care!

What is TRUE in this review is that our volunteers everyone associated with this organization) are spectacular! Our board members, foster families, event volunteers, weekend fosters, vacation fosters, walking volunteers, intake coordinators, trainers, medical care coordinators, and transporters are all very special people who dedicate a tremendous amount of their time to an outstanding organization!

Also true is that we have some great dogs and cats in our program! They all have something special to offer and all are looking for caring lifelong homes!

In addition to our fantastic volunteers and great pets, we have incredible friends who help us through donations to continue the valuable work we do for the animals in our community! Without our volunteers, donors, and adopters, we could not do the work we do that is so desperately needed! Let's also remember the vets, groomers, and trainers who help us help the animals in our program through discounted services!
