I can't remember the first time I went to the Gardens. Maybe a lecture in the Rotary Room, a reception in the Garden, or a respite from a hot swim meet, in the adjacent city park. The interesting thing about the Gardens is they just keep getting better and better. Now a butterfly garden is being created, other plants continue to mature. It is truly a gem in Walnut Creek!
For many years I thought this beautiful garden was part of the adjacent Heather Farms Park complex. It was only after I met people who worked in the Garden that I found out that it was a non-profit community garden managed by an incredibly dedicated staff and volunteer group. After my husband's back surgery in 2019 we spent many enjoyable hours strolling the lovely garden paths as he regained his strength and during the COVID shutdowns it became a true sanctuary of calm and peace. Check it out - you will be glad you did.
