I lost my cat a week ago (Thursday) we were desperately looking for him, I had my daughter go in the day after to see if he was at your shelter and she was told no he wasn't there. She gave you pictures and contact information to contact us if you had anyone bring him in. We were looking all week, and posting pics to find him. She went back to Hart on Tuesday this week to check again and said he wasn't there. I told her to ask to check the back because I was told by an anonymous person to go check again. Here to find out he WAS there in the back and she was told you had him for 5 DAYS!!! NO phone call, no contact with us at all. THEN they charged us 121.00 to take him home!!! We didn't even know he was there! I had her pay for it because I wanted my cat home but after talking to many people this is not the first time they have basically held peoples pets with out telling them when they are looking for them. They also had my cat scheduled for being neutered but he was neutered already I would think an animal shelter would know the difference between a neutered cat and an unneutered cat. We had a lot of emotional distress looking for our cat, he is a therapy cat and for them to not tell us he was there and then charge us $20.00 a day is so wrong.
These people do care about the animals. We need the community to care too! I’m so happy I found my Charlotte there. She saved my life and I saved hers. I’ve nothing but love for my community and H.A.R.T included!!!

I wish there were another option. The people involved have become too callous. They do not care about the animals. I hope that someone will come up with an alternative. I would not donate to them and would only adopt so that I could rescue the animals from them. The money is not going to where it should.
This is a very high kill shelter. They adopt out less than 30%. My experience is not a positive one at all. Over a years time I went in three times to view animals for adoption. I tried to adopt one mother cat that was just brought in with a liter of kittens. The mother was never put up for adoption after her kittens were weaned. (Or none were put up for adoption ever) They killed the dog I was interested in adopting because it had a lump on its neck. I offered to have it looked at by a vet and pay for everything but they would not do it and kill the dog instead. The dog was never looked at by a licensed veterinarian. I wanted to contact and address the board of directors but was unable to reach any board member. The shelter does not put you through and there is no way to contact the board. I want to attend a board meeting but they will not even let me know where the meetings are held.
