the overall goal of healthy cities tutoring is to increase the academic performance, engagement in learning and self-esteem of children aged 5-14 who are enrolled in the program and assigned a tutor. Teachers refer children who could benefit from the support that one-on-one tutoring and mentoring can provide. 431 students were placed with tutors last school year. Results of the data collection for students enrolled in the program for 2016-2017: 80% of teachers strongly agreed or agreed that academic performance improved for their students enrolled in healthy cities tutoring. 80% of teachers strongly agreed or agreed that engagement in learning improved for their students enrolled in healthy cities tutoring. 82% of teachers strongly agreed or agreed that confidence/self-esteem as a learner improved for their students enrolled in healthy cities tutoring.
