Healthwell Foundation has been such an amazing organization to work with for the last 3 years. As a ‘middle-class’ single mom, I do not qualify for any public assistance to help pay for my daughters Type 1 Diabetes supplies (Dexcom CGM). Healthwell Foundation has bridged the gap between what I can afford and what my insurance carrier will pay. Once I provided the diabetes supply company a copy of my approval letter, they notated my account and all I must do now is submit my EOB and invoice to Healthwell Foundation and Healthwell Foundation takes care of the rest. I missed the deadline to submit my income verification and they still processed my renewal. I’ve never been one to ask for help from anyone, even my family. I work hard and try to do things on my own. But, Healthwell Foundation has become like family. It’s coming up on my daughter, Karis’ 3 year ‘diaversary’ and she has been able to live a much more ‘normal’ life thanks to HWF. She doesn’t have holes in her fingers from needle pokes. I can travel for work and not worry about how her diabetes is doing because with Dexcom, I get notified on my phone the same as Karis gets notified with her phone and watch. It takes a village to raise a child and I am grateful that HWF is in my village. I can’t do it on my own, but I can do it with HWF there to help lighten the load a little bit.
I’ve had to put off receiving Prolia for 4 years, Because of the steep co pay and the
Healthwell Foundation has now provided
It. I’m so grateful, it’s such a great relief
Thank you for your wonderful caring donation to me. I m deeply appreciative
I was very blessed to have received a grant from healthwell foundation for my Renal cell cancer. I have battled RCC since my diagnosis in April, 2011. Many surgeries to remove matasisis and a 2 year stint with oral chemotherapy medicine I find myself fighting an extremely difficult cancer. I have now switched therapy to opdivo infusions due to chemotherapy medicine stopped working. Thank you again, sincerely from me and my family for letting me be part of an amazing family and letting me share my story. Stage 4 renal cell cancer has taught me to live in the moment and not take anything for granted. George Busby, Ohio
Healthwell Foundation has been such an amazing organization to work with for the last 3 years. As a patient on Disability and needing help with expensive meds, they have been a godsend. Just not having to worry if I have enough money to get a month of life-saving drugs is a weight off my shoulders. The lack of that worry helps my health all by itself. They are a pleasure to work with.
For the 3rd year now, HealthWell Foundation has approved my grant for life saving medication for my pulmonary fibrosis. It is extremely stressful each December as one grant expires and I am praying the next will be quickly approved. Healthwell Foundation is able to process and approve my grant and set my and my loved ones mind at ease so that I can focus on living. God bless this organization and the loving people that work there.
I don't know what I'd do without them. I have Cystic Fibrosis and the meds to help treat my condition can be extremely expensive. Without Healthwell I wouldn't be able to afford several of my meds. I would simply have to do without them. Thank you Healthwell, thank you!
In May of 2017, my wife started having back and hip pain that we thought was the result of lifting and moving furniture after my mother passed away. Her pain continued to get worse and within one month we started to see her doctor and a chiropractor. No relief. we were sent to see a pain specialist and then to an endocrinologist where we began a bone building medication protocol. it was then determined that my wife needed a hip replaced, but the pain continued. we went to the hospital ER on November 1, 2017 where, after further testing, it was determined that she had multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood. Within four days, she began chemo therapy. Her oncologists, when discussing her treatment plan, stated that the chemo was very expensive but there was financial help out there. The oncologist recommended the Health Well Foundation and some other areas to get assistance. We called Health Well and explained our situation. They were courteous, professional and most of all, kind. They asked some questions about our situation and then told us right away that our request for a grant was approved! A huge weight was lifted from our shoulders. We were able to concentrate on getting better and not have to worry about paying for the chemo drug. This allows us to look to the future and better days ahead. Health Well Foundation is wonderful and a true blessing on our journey. We would like to say thank you to them for this grant and all of their help. And we are moving forward.
Most Thankful and Sincere,
Jan and John Cleaver
Always professional and kind. I really appreciate all the hard work the Foundation does to assist us in copay assistance for my Children who have Cystic Fibrosis. I don't know how I would purchase their meds with out the help of the Healthwell Foundation.
I called Healthwell Foundation today for help in paying a large co-pay for a medication I needed. They were just wonderful! After answering a few questions & giving them my insurance information & some personal income information they granted my request. It did not take long at all. I’m so thankful and appreciative of The Healthwell Help Foundation for helping me get the medication I need!
In November of 2016 I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. My husband and I were left in a state of shock at even the sound of the word cancer. We had never even heard of that type of cancer. Soon after sorting out the details of what was being related to us, we were told that the disease would be treated with three drugs.
The first drug, revlimid, was so very far beyond our ability to pay to the co-pay. However, at the time that the doctor prescribed it, we did not realize the high cost. Behind the scenes, however, the financial aid department of the Levine Cancer Institute hurried to find a grant for me. The Healthwell Foundation stepped up to the plate. We are so thankful to have them grant much-needed funds to us which covers the cost of the co-pay.
My husband and I are on a fixed income because we are both retired. In no way could we ever afford the co- pay for the revlimid. This medication is needed in order for me to keep living. You see, there is no cure for multiple myeloma. However, with this drug and others I am able to keep living. My husband and I are so very grateful to the Healthwell Foundation for their generous donation to me.The kindness of this foundation can never be repaid, but we simply want you to know that those that donate to such a wonderful fund that you have really warmed our hearts. Today, my disease is stabilized, thanks to the Healthwell Foundation.
Sincerely, Courtney (Recipient of 3 Grants) Monroe, NC
We are so incredibly thankful for this organization! We are able to utilize the grant to receive life-altering medication for our daughter, who has Cystic Fibrosis. They are extremely friendly and helpful, as well. Thank you!
THIS ORGANIZTION HAS BEEN SO HELPFUL IN ASSISITING WITH THE CO-PAY FOR MY MONTHLY CHEMO DRUG. EVERYONE I HAVE TALKED WITH HAS BEEN MOST HELPFUL AND
EAGER TOHELP ME. ALSO ENCOURAGED ME TO RE-APPLY ONCE MY GRANT RAN OUT.
THOUGHT WOULD HAV E TO FIND ANOTHER ORGANIZATION.
HEALTHWELL HAS BEEN A LIFE SAVER FOR ME AND ELIMINATED THE STRESS. CANCER IS ENOUGH STRESS TO DEAL WITH. FABULOUS ORGANIZATION AND I THANK THEM FOR ALL
Ovarian cancer is sneaky, by the time one realizes something isn't right, usually it is advanced. I am one of the lucky ones in that I have a great team and so far have beaten the odds. However it is also a cancer that recurs...and a newish drug can lengthen the time between the recurrences and yet more chemo.
Unfortunately the drug is way expensive and that is where HealthWell is a life prolonger..as with a relatively simple application (supported by tax returns etc) HealthWell is covering my costs...and for that my husband and I are so grateful - we could not possibly afford them.
The staff at HealthWell have been very helpful and efficient....so we did not have to wait long at all - every day counts.
Thanks for helping me stay alive longer.
When I turned 47, I became totally physically disabled under Social Security and unable to work after fighting an unknown disease for many years beginning in my late teens. Doctors suspected it was bone cancer, from the nuclear bone scans performed in the early 1980s. Now I am 66 with severe Osteoporosis, some organ damage and I am monitored for multiple myeloma through on-going blood tests and oncology visits. One of my specialist's Medical Assistants put me in touch with the Healthwell Foundation after I was turned down by a manufacturer to help with the copays for one of my most expensive medications. It is only because of Healthwell that I'm able to get this much needed injection to help rebuild my bones. I'm very greatful to the Healthwell Foundation and ask that others please donate so those who can't afford expensive medications can keep fighting those diseases that have no cures. Otherwise, lifesaving medications would be out of reach without the grants and donations to highly ranked charities like the Healthwell Foundation. Pease consider donating so others may continue their fight to live. Thank you.
As a disabled person, this organization is key in helping me afford the medication I otherwise wouldn't be able to. The phone operators are always very courteous and knowledgeable.
This foundation has been a true blessing to me. My co-pays are outrageous and it would really hard for me to be able to take care of it on my own. I never have to worry anymore when it is time to order my prescriptions because whatever my insurance doesn't cover they pick up the rest!! Anytime I have called the staff has been amazing and extremely diligent to get stuff taken care of for me. Thank you all for what you do for patients like me!
I can't thank Healthwell enough. I had a cancerous left kidney removed in October, 2010. While all existing cancer was removed and it was a non-aggressive form, cancerous cells could still form where the kidney had been removed and travel in my bloodstream to other parts of my body - known as renal cell migration. Our primary care physician referred me to a surgeon with Western Maryland Health Systems. My regular follow-up with the surgeon who removed the kidney only included an outward physical check up every six months and, at that time, I did not know about the possibility of renal call migration. I had such a migration and, upon having a terrible convulsion in November, 2014, I discovered that I had a one inch cancerous tumor just in back of my right frontal motor cortex in my brain! My primary care physician had me transported to West Virginia University affiliated Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. I had this removed and was very fortunate to come out of this with cognition, vision, and speech intact, though I don't have quite the same function in my right side. Ruby is excellent. I now have the surgeon who removed the tumor checking me with an M.R.I. for the brain area and an oncologist checking me with a C.A.T. scan every four months and am also on Sutent, an oral capsule that prevents renal cell migration. I highly recommend Ruby and the Mary Randolph Cancer Center for anyone involved with cancer in this area. The Sutent has been very effective and has prevented migration to date. Unfortunately, it is also extremely expensive. This is where Healthwell has come in. Healthwell has covered the extremely high copay expense for the last year and has accepted me this year. I cannot thank them enough. The people there are very caring and understanding. This takes much stress off of me and my wife and our daughter. A little about myself. I am an retired educator with Garrett County, Maryland, public schools. I worked in pupil services for 39 years. I also served as accompanist for our Church choir for 24 years until a parishioner who teaches music in our school system came in to relieve me in 2000. I still sing in the choir. I also volunteer as treasurer with our Extension office, that coordinates 4-H programs in our county. I substitute teach when able. I've had to reduce activities as my wife has developed kidney failure and has been in dialysis three days a week for almost two years at this point, and also has developed some other conditions as well. I really appreciate Healthwell. They have been a lifesaver literally. I've been able to be helpful to my wife and have lived long enough to see grand and great grandchildren. A big "Thank You" to Healthwell Foundation!
Almost ten years ago, my husband was diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive scarring of the lungs of unknown cause. Every year the scarring increased. His doctor suggested he take part in a drug trial that could lead to a medication that would help, and he was a part of that trial for its' final three years. After the drug was approved and went on the market, it was suggested we apply for a grant to help us afford it. We applied to HealthWell Foundation and have been so grateful to them for their kindness and assistance that made continuing on this medication possible. The doctor tells us that my husband's lung function is stable and he is still able to live a rewarding and fulfilling life.
