Mission: The institute was established for the express purpose of creating new, and supporting existing, health care employment training in the state of washington. The institute receives donations from member hospitals and the washington state hospital association (the association), and directs these funds to health work force training initiatives.
Programs: A grant was awarded to the workforce training and education coordinating board that contracted with the institute to break new ground in moving low-wage health care workers into better paying, higher-demand professions. The grant was also provided to create entry-level jobs for unemployed and dislocated workers with the opportunity to advance with on-the-job education and training.
