Causes: Community Service Clubs
Mission: The healing house focuses on helping children ages 4-18 through grief issues in a group atmosphere. The healing house does not provide counseling or therapy, but a safe place, where children who have experienced a death of a loved one can express their thoughts and feelings in a variety of ways. In support groups facilitated by volunteers, children learn to express their grief through interactive play, expressive art work and discussion groups with peers experiencing the same trauma. Although the healing house is geared toward children, parents will also find a place to talk and share feelings with others in their situation.
Programs: The healing house provided a safe place for more than 300 grieving children, teens and their families as they share their experiences and move through the healing process. The healing house also held more than 195 support groups during the year.
