Mission: The stated purpose of heading home is to make experience of homelessness rare, short-lived and nonrecurring. It accomplishes through operation of six programs that provide emergency housing, transitional services and permanent housing for homeless populations.
Programs: Heading home continued a three-county program, in partnership with cyfd, clnkids, valencia county shelters and mesilla valley of hope, to house families and reduce instances of child abuse and neglect. Also, heading home continued to operate as the backbone agency for albuquerque heading home, a multi-agency partnership in albuquerque that houses the most medically vulnerable people who have experienced chronic homelessness. To-date, the initiative has housed 842 people. In addition, heading home continues to provide overnight medical shelter, 24-hour respite care and veteran transitional housing.
