The HBOT mission, culture and approach to supporting veterans struggling with various challenges is an example of us all! They’re truly “on a mission” and they aren’t stopping until they help as many veterans as they can!
Having two Purple Hearts, I do not have to really explain why I have faced subsequent symptoms of battle that many face: ptsd, depression, anger, and even at one time, suicidal ideation.
For years I struggled to manage these symptoms without assistance from medication- medications which I found not only unhealthy and unhelpful- but psychologically destructive as well.
I can say today, after completing my 40 dives at the amazing EXTIVITA clinic- that my symptoms have virtually vanished altogether and not only am I happier, but so is my family.
I cannot fully express the gratitude I have for being able to enjoy the abatement of these symptoms from my daily life- and how it has made me a more productive member of society- all which came from HBOT4HEROES and this amazing program they have.
Everyone should familiarize themselves with this treatment and talk with their legislators about supporting it’s increased availability across the state so that we can all heal better!
After researching the amazing work that HBOT 4 Heroes does, I was in complete awe. My father, a veteran, took his life October 23, 2001. I wish so badly this could have been available to him back then. He might would still be here today!. It’s absolutely incredible what this organization is doing for suicide prevention and our veterans.
I was introduced to this great charity in October 2023. After my tour of the facility, I realized there was something much larger at work here. I enrolled in the program, beginning my “Dive” Sessions in December 2023 and January 2024. The results have been absolutely positively astounding!!!
I referred a large amount of Veterans to the program, all of whom have had absolutely positively incredible results - I’d say I’ve referred about 9 so far, most of whom have finished their sessions.
I am a firm believer that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy should be approved by our Federal Government to treat Combat Veterans like myself with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) among other ailments we have endured overseas. It’s crazy that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) do not recognize this treatment protocol as having high efficacy (Nearly 100%!!!!) in the treatment of Veterans in this incredible program.
Additionally, Extivita Clinic (which administers this amazing program) has the 2nd largest HBOT Capacity in the entire country - 24 seats in (2) very large chambers, with customized control systems, specialized treatment protocols, and by far the safest operation I have seen in HBOT (And I have seen a LOT of the other “Chambers” out there).
Furthermore, I was given the opportunity to take part in the HBOT 4 Heroes Gala on March 1st, 2024. The charity allowed me to invite a table full of guests to the event, and it was truly a night to remember as we had Mr. Mike Pompeo (Former Secretary of State of the United States and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency) at the best Black Tie Event of the year in March 2024.

Our veterans have sacrificed for their country and have a lot of ailments in the process. The Hyperberic chambers have given many of them true hope for a future without pain .
The staff is remarkable in the care they provide for their clients. It’s therapeutic interacting with such professionals.
As a patient at Extivita, I have witnessed firsthand the healing power of HBOT. The veterans program at HBOT4Heroes is truly remarkable. During my time as a patient, I talked with many veterans who described this program as life changing. I would recommend this program to EVERY veteran living in NC!
I’ve completed approximately 60 dives since mid-2023. After several concussions, primarily waterskiing in my teens, I didn’t realize my brain fog. HBOT was key in starting a healing process. Neurofeedback has also helped with my focus and clarity.
I’ve also had aggressive high blood pressure (the maximum of 4 or 5 meds). Since HBOT, my BP is consistently 125/65, and, I had neuropathy in my feet and the better circulation has made this completely go away!
The staff at Extivita is hard to describe. Their attention to detail, and care for their patients is impeccable! Blessed to have found this nonprofit
My husband had a traumatic brain injury, heat stroke, kidney failure, rhabdomyolysis, and nerve damage while on active duty at the age of 21. Since then, he has struggled with severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, memory loss, brain fog, pain, and a lot of other issues.
HBOT gave him so much hope for the future. Finding HBOT has been the blessing we have been praying for. His health issues are far from cured, but he is learning to cope and accept his new reality. HBOT has reduced some of his brain fog, improved his ability to express himself, and simply let him enjoy the little things in life again. He feels more like himself, when before, he didn't recognize this "new brain". He no longer gets frustrated super easily because he is able to concentrate more and do more tasks on his own.
As a healthcare provider myself, I wish that more medical professionals recognized HBOT as a legitimate form of healing. There are so many doctors trying to treat veterans but many are not aware of the benefits of HBOT. I look forward to the day that HBOT treatments get covered for all veterans needing them.

HBOT has been a truly remarkable experience, it’s helped with anxiety, sleep, and my auto immune condition. Can talk about how awesome the staff were as well! The healing powers of HBOT are truly remarkable.
At 10 years post combat and post Traumatic Brain Injury, our daughter, Kimberly Fix, has lived with 24/7/365 care, on a feeding tube, and with diminished hope of any physical and mental improvements to gain in the reduced time she will likely live -until HBOT 4 Heroes gave us a path toward hope. This funded program has given us hope for a quality of life improvement for Kimmy, and we haven't had that for eight years. Kimmy's TBI put her in a coma for over a year, and the doctors didn't think she would ever come out of the vegetative state of her coma. But she did. She has fought to improve since, but we saw Kimmy plateau in her improvements, even though she never gave up. Since we began HBOT treatments, Kimmy has become more alert, has slept three times longer each night, and she is stronger in her effort to stand and walk. Her shaking movements are all but gone. In the picture below, Kimmy is walking with her physical therapist. HBOT has given us hope again. To watch Kimmy's quality of life improving, even in small margins is like a dream awakening for all of us.
My name is Stu Farris and I recently retired from the US Army after almost 26 years. Last week I had the opportunity to receive HBOT treatment, along with three other veteran friends, at the Extivita Clinic. Bottom line--it was amazing. This program has done wonders for those who have served. Seeing veterans being able to fight back first-hand against things like PTSD with the use of HBOT has been inspiring and even influenced me into wanting to try out hyperbaric oxygen therapy for myself. I highly recommend anybody out there that has family member who is struggling with a brain injury or any other form of injury to try out HBOT!
