I visited HayCreek one Sunday afternoon just to see what the iron furnace looked like. I picked up a brochure noting activities, one of which was the “over the hill gang.” This group meets every Thursday, working from 9 to 3 on projects ranging from groundskeeping, carpentry, equipment repair, Archeology, metal casting, saw mill, food service, general puttering around, and others. Oh, and we get a good lunch for a dollar! Average age of volunteers is probably in the mid seventies. If you’re a putterer, tinker, or love getting your hands dirty, you should come over and check us out. Also on Facebook, and www.haycreek.org
