Programs: The Student Assessment Program contracts with a trained multidisciplinary team which uses a strengths-based approach to assess and guide struggling students, their families, and their teachers. These assessments identify students’ strengths and interests and specific breakdowns in learning in eight neurodevelopmental domains: attention, temporal-sequential ordering, spatial ordering, memory, language, neuromotor functions, social cognition, and higher order cognition. The assessments also give specific strategies to help in the regular classroom and at home. The Teacher Professional Development Program helps educators acquire knowledge and skills to support all kinds of learners. The Student Academic Enrichment Program supports struggling and gifted students by offering enrichment opportunities in art, music, and physical education during the school year, and a two week summer Academic Enrichment Camp. A pilot summer Academic Enrichment Camp was held in June and July 2010 in partnership with Assets School, a highly respected school for gifted and dyslexic students located in Honolulu. The Parent Education Program aims to provide families of struggling and gifted students with knowledge and a better understanding of variations in learning and strategies to more effectively address those variations.
