Causes: Homeless & Housing, Homeless Shelters
Mission: Haven House provides emergency housing and support services for one-parent and two-parent families with children. The shelter helps families who are homeless prepare for permanent housing by developing and promoting self-sufficiency, stability, and financial responsibility. Residents receive housing, meals, crisis counseling, assistance with goal setting and referrals to other agencies as needed. Partners in Progress is a transitional housing program to assist families after they leave the shelter. A Haven House staff member works with former residents to set realistic goals and monitor progress in employment, budgeting, and help connecting with the neighborhood and the community.
Results: During 2013 we helped 122 families successfully transition into permanent housing. We continue to offer case management to families once they move into housing. Last year 68% of families moved into housing and of that number, 91% stayed in housing!
