We fostered from Have a Heart and then immediately fell in love with, and adopted , our little Rachel Rose! She is the sweetest, most loving little bundle of joy, who fit perfectly into our family. Big brother Max welcomed her with open paws because she was beautifully socialized with humans and animals alike. Thank you Have a Heart for bringing her into our hearts!
1 year ago I adopted the sweetest dog from Have A Heart. My husband and I were very impressed with the adoption process and how Have A Heart makes sure that the adopter and the adopted are a perfect fit.
A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to adopt a dog from Have a Heart, Inc. Having a pet - a dog - is a responsibility that I take very seriously, so I was careful in my pursuit. I wanted to adopt rather than buy. I thought this was a good way to honor the wonderful pets I had in my lifetime by saving an animal who needed me. After going to shelters and looking at other adoption groups, I was scared that I would adopt a pet and not be sure of their temperament and health. I started following Have a Heart on facebook. I watched as they rescued dogs, took them to vets to assure their health, and socialized them as well as getting them used to being in a home, walking on a leash, house breaking etc. I saw a dog on their page that interested me - a black mini-schnauzer named Beau. He was skinny but spunky looking....so I made plans to go visit. I got to see the facility and visit with Beau and several other dogs. I felt very comfortable with my decision to take Beau as my own. It was very clear to me that Have a Heart's mission was to find "forever homes" . In addition to checking out potential owners, I felt that they had made sure the dogs were ready to go to a home before they were adopted. They came and visited , checked the house and yard out - and finally left Beau with me and my partner to care for - with knowledge that we would get visited again to see how things were going. From the moment Beau arrived, he was at home. While I know that part of that was the temperament of dog - I really believe that Have a Heart had prepared him to be re-entered into the world as a pet. Their facility and care-givers are unique and make each dog a priority. If I were ever looking to adopt another dog - I would first turn to them because I trust that they would do THEIR best - and would also be honest with me. You cannot expect more than that. Clearly they invest time and money into each dog, and don't want to see that dog on the street again. I frequently mention them to individuals who want to adopt. Their facility is quite a way from my home - but it is well worth the trip to know that their heart is in the right place. :)
My Marshall came to me from Diane Francis through Have a Heart. What a wonderful job they do of saving the pets and finding just the right home for them. They do such great work. It amazes me the hard work and dedication this group has to rescuing all our fury friends.
We have adopted two dogs from Have A Heart. From the start we were struck by the passion and commitment from the volunteers who support this rescue. The dogs are loved and the rescue works so hard to make sure every dog is with just the right family. My daughter asked every child attending her 11th birthday party to make a donation to Have A Heart instead of giving a present for her - that is how much our family loves the work they do. Every dollar helps an dog in need. We are so grateful every day that Have A Heart saved our dogs and made them a part of our family!
Have A Heart rescued my dog, Bruce, about 2 years ago and then I adopted him. He is the best thing to ever happen to me! The rescue site itself is clean and a great environment for the dogs with a very professional volunteer staff. I'm so thankful for Bruce everyday. He is my rock and keeps me calm and de-stressed during my hectic graduate school life. They continue to rescue dogs and are truly one of the best dog rescues I have ever encountered.
I have been fostering and volunteering with Have A Heart, Inc. for 3 years. I have fostered well over 20 dogs for them all of whom needed medical care or special socialization skills. Have A Heart is the only rescue that I know of that gives EVERY dog EVERY thing they need to be successfully adopted and integrated into a new forever home. The other thing I love about Have A Heart is that they know their dogs...do they like kids, do they like cats, do they like other dogs, are they housebroken, are they good on a leash etc. The dogs are evaluated AFTER they settle in which allows everyone to see the "real" personality of each dog.
My wife and I had the pleasure of adopting our little Luke from Have a Heart. We're in NY. Have a Heart is in Florida. You'd think this would have made the adoption a challenge. It was an absolute piece of cake from start to finish and it's all because of the wonderful staff at Have a Heart. These people are truly angels. The care and love they give these animals is unparalleled. They have a genuine interest in finding these animals perfect homes and go above and beyond any rescue organization I know of. I donate to them regularly both in food/toys and in financial aid. I can't say enough good about this rescue and I am truly grateful for giving us our wonderful Luke. Thank you Have a Heart! We adopted our sweet Renegade through Have a Heart ❤️ We are so thankful they saved him and we were able to make him a part of our family. They are such a kind and caring group of people.. And I would highly recommend adopting through them.
I am a volunteer for Have A Heart, Inc and I have seen first hand the lengths they will go to in order to save a dog’s life. They rescue the most critical medical cases from Miami-Dade County Animal Shelter, a high kill county shelter. I have picked dogs up from the shelter and transported them directly to HAH’s vet so I have witnessed the medical care they receive and it is top notch! I have no doubt that if HAH hadn’t stepped up for each of these dogs they would have never left the shelter alive.
I have also had the pleasure of doing home checks and follow up visits for dogs that this rescue places in loving forever homes. Every family I have met has been wonderful and totally committed to their new family member(s). A dog rescued by HAH, Inc. has been rescued for life!
I am so grateful to Have A Heart, Inc. for all they do for the most vulnerable dogs in our community and I feel so very fortunate to be able to volunteer with such a professional, caring and dedicated rescue organization!
Have A Heart, Inc. is one of the most, if not the most, responsible, compassionate rescue I have ever worked with. They put their heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into each and everyone one of their rescues. They don't rescue just the easy to adopt and healthy animals, they take on animals that need extensive medical treatments and training. They never give up on an animal! I respect and love them for everything they do!
I have had the privilege of witnessing how far a human will go to provide a dog a new happy life. What an honor it is to be a part of this rescue. Watching them save dogs who others may have or have given up on and give them the care they need to be healthy and happy dogs again. Well it's simply just amazing! I'm blessed with the opportunity of walking, playing and just loving the dogs that come through the rescue. But the love I get back is priceless! Thank you Have a Heart for saving so many lives!
Debbie and her crew and staff at Have a Heart rescue the "high-kill" canines from shelters and provide them with a second chance at life. They go beyond rescuing these animals. Debbie gives them a fresh start by having them medically attended, gives them a temporary home with no rush to get them placed, and in the meantime they provide them the basic training on behavior modification so that they can become a well-mannered family member.
They take their time in matching up the "forever" families with each individual dog and have had much success. Although Debbie is a dog lover, she is not blinded by their circumstances and works very diligently to find them the perfect match for a successful adoption.

Have A Heart goes above and beyond to ensure that their pups are happy and healthy! I am so lucky to have the opportunity to volunteer for an organization that truly cares about their rescue pups well-being, not to mention all the fun we have with the walk and wash events. Every pup that I have had the opportunity to run, walk, and/or roll around in the grass with......has been undeniably loving, and I believe this is a direct reflection of the Have A Heart team. The tail and tongue wags are never ending ~ that says it all!
I love being a volunteer for Have A Heart. The success I have seen just in two short years has been awesome. Every home that Have A Heart has found for these pups has been great. They receive pictures and stories from the families that say how happy they are and how happy the pups are in their new home. We have lots of fun at the adoption events and I look forward to doing it again. Especially with my new little friend "Susie" :)
