Michele shows these animals such love and compassion. She runs a beautiful barn with such high standards and gives everything she has to helping every animal she can.
This Rescue is so amazing with the love..work and compassion they do and show for the horses they rescue!! The woman who started this...Michelle...is so good to them and shows so much love!!!
Michele and John have a beautiful place for their rescues to call home. They get to run/play in the paddocks and have a barn that is kept immaculate!
I have seen rescues come in looking very depressed with multiple medical issues. Within a few weeks they are not the same horses at all. Their rescues begin receiving the medical attention and love they need the day they arrive.
Hattingh Equine Rescue and Rehab Inc is amazing!
Hatting rescue is the best! John and Michell literally save horses lives. They both are angels here on earth.
The Hattinghs are the most compassionate group of people an workers I have ever been around. They care more about the animals an their wellbeing more then themselves. They deserve the world as well as the animals they rescue an take care of. They have no limit as far as willingness to do whatever these animals need. Endless amounts of love that’s forsure!!
Hattingh Equine Rescue is a true haven for unwanted horses. It’s a beautiful facility with the absolute best care possible. Clean hay, freshly scrubbed water tanks, and large turnouts with sizable stalls in a pristine barn. Michele sees to it that each horses needs are addressed in a timely manner, be it teeth, hooves, weight or anything else.
Awesome rescue that goes above and beyond when it comes to their Rescues. Would recommend !!! Please consider assisting so that they can continue their loving work.
I have followed the Hattingh Equine Rescue for about five years. I have seen employees come and go....sometimes ruthlessly, leaving Michele Hattingh to pick up the pieces, which she always does no matter her physical or exhausted state of mind. I have seen videos of horses rescued that were emaciated, physically broken and mentally weary. After their stay at Hattingh Rescue these horses were "brought" back to life. This facility is so much more than just a retreat for horses......it's a new way of life....a new beginning, and Michele is there the entire step of the way.
I met Michele about 7 years ago, I came to work at her farm to help take care of her horses. I immediately knew when I first stepped foot on this farm that this woman loves her horses and takes the absolute best care of them. Their stalls were so clean, the buckets didn’t have a even a crumb of old food, the walk ways were clear, the fields were well taken care of, and she was always with her horses. When I met Michelle she had just taken in a horse named Annie. She older, had some mild issues, so no one wanted her. Michelle instantly went and got her and did everything in her power to get Annie healthy again. All of Michelle’s horses have a story, they don’t come from big fancy farms, they come from places where their live was awful. Michelle took these babies and gave them a wonderful life. They are so well cared for and she puts their needs before anything else. Michelle deserves all the help she can get with these beautiful creatures.
they help uncared for animals live out their lives as safe and loved as can be. they give them medical care and love.
Hattingh Equine is an amazing rescue! Michele and her staff take excellent care of each horse, and the barn is always kept in tip-top shape. As a volunteer who has had previous horse experience, I have learned more about the day-to-day activities that are involved in horse care. Additionally, I have come to cherish my time with the horses, as they teach you so much, and they all are unique in their own way. I have also been able to ride the horses which is a very rewarding and fun experience. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Michele! It take a lot of time and money to give horses the best possible care so please donate if you can!
I began volunteering for Hattingh Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation in March 2021. Little did I know how much of an impact these gentle giants would have on my life. These horses were rescued from kill pens, race tracks, and owners who had starved and neglected them or could no longer care for them. The Hattinghs have spared no expense to ensure these horses are given the best vet care, farrier care, and proper nutrition based on their individual needs. This sanctuary is such a worthy place to make donations. Horse care is extremely expensive and every dollar donated goes to their care! Please consider Hattingh Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation for your donations!
Michele takes phenomenal care of her animals and spares no expense in making sure that their needs are met and they are allowed to live the best life possible based on their medical conditions.
I've known Michele and John Hattingh since before they formed their Equine Rescue and Rehab. I've seen first hand how much of a difference their time, talents, and sacrifices -- personal and financial -- have made in the lives of the gentle animal souls they have rescued! They go out of their way and above and beyond literally every day to ensure the health (mental and physical) and well-being of their animals. John has personally built spaces for any additional rescues they take on. It is their genuine passion and purpose to help these horses and to advocate against every form of mistreatment and abuse of equines that exists on a broader scale. They put their animals before themselves every single day.
But doing all of this takes money. And John and Michele are literally spending away their own personal funds for the benefit of these "gentle giants" (as Michele calls them). Many people simply do not realize how much money it takes to take care of healthy horses. Taking care of horses who need intensive, specialized care, treatment, socialization and training can result in astronomical expenses. The Hattinghs go without so the horses don't have to. They are angels on earth.
