Nonprofit Overview

Mission: Purpose of The Harvest Drive The Harvest Drive is a yearlong project that culminates events that take place at several public schools every Thanksgiving. Families receive a complete Thanksgiving meal and a week's worth of grocery staples, as well as personal and household necessities during Thanksgiving season. Fundraising efforts and collections are under way throughout the fall season. In years past, student from over 150 public and private schools, as well as churches, temples and many other community organizations have held drives and supplied the Harvest Drive with the non-perishable food that is distributed to our families. The unique characteristic of the program is that in addition to the business and community donations, children are at the helm of all collections. In addition to helping others, the purpose of the Harvest Drive is to teach children at an early age that their contributions can make a difference in the lives of others, by facilitating their direct High school clubs fundraise and collect large quantities of food obtained at local grocery stores throughout the County. Middle and elementary school students collect food and funds throughout their classrooms and other school wide activities. Civic clubs, local businesses, corporations, volunteer organizations and PTAs have generously sponsored the Harvest Drive by providing money to purchase the perishable foods. Children Helping Children Educating children and creating a consciousness about the needs of their community; promoting altruism and giving them the opportunity to help others are the cornerstone of the Harvest Drive. Harvest Drive believes in encouraging the concept of children and adults working hand-in-hand to assist families in Broward County with gifts of food and other necessities during the Thanksgiving holidays and throughout the year. Please join us in our efforts to stamp out hunger our Broward County communities! .......

Harvest Drive allows me to volunteer and give back to my local community. We work all year to provide for needy families. By collecting items for our Boutique such as new and gently used clothes, toys, books, shoes, household items, our families can shop for free for all of these necessary things. Harvest drive is a wonderful way for our youth to serve their community since they are directly helping students in their own schools. Thanksgiving time would not be possible without Harvest Drive for many families. The food they receive is essential at a very critical time. Joining our team will not only help us with our goals but will make you feel on top of the world to see the impact on these families.

I have participated in Harvest since my sophomore year when I joined Cypress Bay High School Student Government. We spend weeks collecting, counting, and organizing food to give to families that live in our own City of Weston. Knowing that I am apart of a big picture making an impact has really given me a different perspective of the world around me. I have loved gaining this experience these past 3 years.

Harvest Drive has impacted my life along with several others. As a teenager, I quickly learned the importance of giving back in my community. Without the promotion from Harvest Drive about families in need nearby me, I would never know the area I live is in poverty. With their help, I learned to lead an altruistic lifestyle. I believe it is remarkable that this organization not only touches the lives of who they are providing to and helping, but to the volunteers that are working the process. What is of extreme importance is that families in need are getting living necessities, however, it is also incredible to see the impact Harvest Drive has on making the community a much more philanthropic and generous. My life was truly effected working alongside Harvest Drive, as I'm sure the lives of recipients were. I can't wait to see this organization continue to prosper.

They put their hearts into every task and simply display altruism with their mission of "it is all about the children." This successful non-profit organization has inspired children of all ages to give back to their community. The world is beyond thankful for Harvest Drive.

As a child, this organization taught me the importance of spreading altruism throughout my community. I have had the great honor of working alongside the founder of Harvest Drive and her amazing team. I can't express my admiration for all of them and their dedication to growing Harvest Drive and teaching kids at a young age the impact they can make in others lives. Throughout my whole high school career, I participated in Harvest Drive and it is by far the most remarkable thing I have had the honor of doing. The amazing thing is that Harvest Drive has only flourished. Every year they push themselves to feed more families, encourage additional community involvement, and motivate more children to make a difference. The organization is fueled by the motivation of thousands of elementary, middle, and high schoolers who are aiming to make an impact BECAUSE of Harvest Drive. Going to school in an affluent community, I never realized how many people need help. Harvest Drive exhibited to me that there is always someone in need of help, and that it's ok to ask for aid. I can't thank the Harvest Drive organization enough for teaching me the importance of altruism and that I can truly make a difference even at only 16.
