Just this past Friday I discovered this amazing rescue and tonight I brought a sweet little Siamese home. Elaine is great very responsive and thorough. The adoption form and process was thorough. I also had a lot of communication with the foster mom Amy who was equally great and responsive. I would definitely adopt again from this group. Highly highly recommended!
There are many super groups working with animal adoption. We ourselves have adopted 2 great cats from Happy Homes. But what makes Happy Homes really special is the staff that genuinely loves animals, and will do anything to help them, including rope friends, acquaintances, etc. to be fosters, to provide a "bridge" home, or just to buy fundraising chocolate.
During COVID getting pets adopted is easy. Everyone is looking for one. But the efforts that Happy Homes went through before the pandemic, and I'm sure after, to help every animal is simply heroic.
My husband and I wanted to adopt a cat with special needs, but it was intimidating. Jennifer walked us through the process, fully addressed our concerns, and helped us adjust every step of the way. The support of Happy Homes and Jennifer made all the difference! Biscuit has been a wonderful part of our family ever since, and we're grateful to Happy Homes for making our family complete. They are wonderful to work with, and they help so many kitties, especially the ones that just need a chance and a little extra TLC. Thank you all for what you do! As you can see, Biscuit is doing great....
We have adopted 3 amazing cats from Happy Homes. HH gave my cats so much love and attention when they were kittens that they’ve grown into the most loving and playful cats we’ve ever had. HH also helped me TNR cats in a colony near my home and took in 6 kittens off the street with open arms who have all been adopted to loving homes. HH has also been there for me when I had question and they always answer right away. We are forever grateful for HH.
2 years ago I walked into a pet smart to get cat food for an older cat we had. We saw they had an adoption event and I became very interested in adopting a kitten for her to play with. The staff with happy homes were amazing and answered every question I had and helped us pick out the perfect kitten that fit us. The adoption process was very smooth and quick. After adoption Elaine reached out to follow up and make sure our new kitten was doing well and made us aware that if we had any more questions she would be happy to help. Fast forward to March 2020 days after COVID started to ramp up I saw that happy homes needed fosters to help with the cats that were in habitat. We stepped up and started fostering our first cat for almost 3 months while the world was a bit crazy. Ever since then we have fostered several kittens including a foster who is now apart of our family forever. I can’t say enough great things about everyone involved with happy homes. Amazing to be a part of.
We adopted our cat Sampson from Happy Homes and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish! Elaine was amazing and super helpful. We love our boy so much and would recommend anyone to adopt from Happy Homes Animal Rescue. They really care about their animals and want to see them go to the best homes:)
We were introduced to Happy Homes through a neighbor who volunteers for them. They have helped us numerous times over the years in TNR and then getting the kittens fostered and/or adopted. We have had nothing but great experiences with their dedicated volunteers. They aim to do what’s best for the animals. I would highly recommend them.
Having decided to share with a TNR procedure in my neighborhood, I had the great pleasure of meeting Elaine of Happy Homes Animal Rescue. She shared her knowledge of trapping and taught us helpful hints. It has been well over one year and I have learned a lot from this very knowledgeable person. She has great organizational skills and a complete passion and dedication to the needs of these precious cats/kittens. This is what I greatly admire about Elaine/Happy Homes Animal Rescue. It takes a special person to be able to do the great job that she does, and she is that special person. I would highly recommend Elaine/Happy Homes Animal Rescue.
Elaine at Happy Homes Rescue was highly recommended to me a couple years back when I was looking for help with TNR in my neighborhood.
I called her and she immediately came to meet me and offered all the help she could. Since then she has been there through my TNR process responding practically immediately every single time I needed her and getting the spaying and neutering done. Over these last couple years I have firsthand witnessed the tremendous care, compassion, and tireless work she puts into rescuing and caring for kittens and cats. No matter how busy she is she puts the needs of these precious animals first and never stops working for them. Between running the rescue, running to vets to obtain the best care possible, running a foster, et cetera...Elaine is an angel on earth for so many kittens and cats. There are not many people around with the amount of compassion that she has to run this excellent rescue. I have the utmost respect for her and her rescue and now I myself highly recommend Happy Homes to anyone looking to adopt.
My experience was amazing. I now have 2 loving cats, a brother and sister. Happy Homes is the most kind and caring adoption home and dedicated to finding loving homes for all their pets.
Thank you
Happy Homes is a caring and dedicated rescue. We adopted our beautiful Kitty from them several years ago. It was our first cat and they took care to match us with the perfect pet for our family. She was very healthy and well-adjusted. We are very grateful to Happy Homes!
Happy Homes is an excellent rescue! The volunteers are wonderful! We adopted a kitten named Applejack that was rescued from the ACC in NYC. Now known as Pikachu, he is such an important part of our family and brings us so much joy! I never really used to be a "cat person" but my buddy Pickachu changed all that! I am now a proud cat dad! Thank you Happy Homes for all the important work you do!
I had adopted two kittens from Happy Homes about 5 years ago. I was very impressed with how professional they were and how smoothly the adoption went. They really care about their cats getting the right home. I was so impressed that this year I decided to foster for them. I have fostered for other rescues in the past and I have to say that this is one of my best experiences. It’s like joining a second family, where everyone helps each other out, you are never on your own. This is a group of amazing, kind hearted people, who put 110 percent into this rescue. All around great rescue to work with or adopt from!
I've adopted 3 cats from Happy Homes in Old Bridge, NJ. They were the best experiences I ever had adopting any animal.
We first adopted 2 kittens a black female and a black and white male tuxedo for my daughter as emotional support cats. She became extremely attached to Nico, the b/w. After about 3 weeks Nico started to show signs of lethargy and he wasn't eating. I was holding him most of the day. The next day I called Elaine from the Happy Homes in Old Bridge, NJ. This woman is the most caring and knowledgeable cat person I know of without being a veterinarian. She met me at the vets and we took him in. He had a very fever and was given antibiotics. He finished his dose without any improvement. I waited a week and called Elaine again. We did this 3 times back and forth to the vet and each time was given a different antibiotic. After the 3rd dose didn't make a difference Elaine took Nico to her house and tried different foods and isolating him. Still nothing. The 4th and last visit to the vet he did a blood test for several diseases including FIP. Everything came back negative. The vet gave up because he didn't know what to do. We didn't know what to do either because he wasn't improving. A week later I called Elaine again and told her that he was starting to show signs that seemed neurological; not walking straight, a little shaking every so often and mainly sleeping and not eating well. She was sure he had FIP even though he tested negative for it. She decided to treat him for it on her own at her home. She knew we all loved him and didn't want to give up and she wanted to do everything possible before she ran out of ideas. She ordered the medicine and administered the shots for 85 days. Now Nico has been back with us for almost a year and he is like a different cat. He plays and ALWAYS wants to eat and is still our lovable baby. I am so grateful to Elaine and Happy Homes. I would recommend first and foremost to anyone who is looking to adopt. She goes above and beyond. Her compassion and her love for animals is beyond compare!

We will forever be thankful for happy homes. The volunteers are kind, compassionate, and truly care about both their animals and adopters. They put their hearts and 1000% effort into what they do, and always put the best interests of the animal first. These volunteers sacrifice their valuable time for free, to rescue countless animals from danger. Multiple family members and I have adopted from happy homes, and have had an exceptional experience each time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do!
We adopted our sweet kitten Pepper in August 2020 from Happy Homes. The whole experience was amazing. Originally, we had found another kitten and Pepper on Pet Finder, both with Happy Homes, and the process after that went pretty quickly. The application was straight forward and the communication with the foster parent was professional, kind, and very helpful. We originally had our eyes on one kitten, who was spoken for, so they helped us find our way to our little Pep! The foster parent sent me emails with photos, detailed description of our sweet kitten, and went above and beyond to make contact with me about the adoption process, even with little to no cell/internet service after a bad storm.
We got to meet Pepper on August 9th and we FELL IN LOVE. We got the hang out and meet her and then filled out some paper work. She came home with us on August 16th after she got fixed. She is the sweetest cat I’ve ever had, and she is the perfect addition to our little cat family. Happy Homes is a rescue that I have shared and recommended to friends for adoptions and I will continue to do so from here on out! I am sure we will be reaching out to them in the future when we are ready to expand our little cat family again! Trust me, they are true pet lovers - anyone could see that just by meeting with them. You won’t be disappointed!
I volunteer and adopted from this wonderful rescue. During Covid I lost my job and was looking for something to occupy my time with. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this organization while at Petco and contacted them to see if they needed help. It’s been the best experience volunteering with them. I have a passion for animals and I’m so to work with such wonderful people. The animals are taken care of and loved dearly! I was able to adopt one of the kittens and I’m so happy to have him in the home with me. It’s a simple and easy adoption process. Love Happy Homes Inc and so happy to be part of this rescue!
Of all the animal rescue groups I’ve worked with Happy Homes Animal Rescue is by far the best. They often rescue cats where everyone else has given up. They TNR stray cats to help control the overpopulation. They make sure every cat adopted is properly vetted before releasing it. Potential adopters are also screened and vetted to ensure that the cat requested is a proper fit for both the adopter and the cat. Happy Homes has taken cats that were in hoarding situations, which bordered on animal cruelty, and at their expense rescued them and placed the adoptable cats in appropriate homes and provided sanctuary for those who were unadoptable.
I would trust my cats to these people with full confidence that they would receive the same level of care that I give them.
One of my favorite rescues. They save animals from shelters, the street, and rehome pets for people who can’t keep them anymore. The animals get top notch care. They also step up and take back any animal they previously adopted out of the family can no longer care for them. They stay responsible for their rescues for life. I have recommended them to several friends and family and all have adopted from them.
Seven years ago, my daughter and I started volunteering for Happy Homes, cleaning the habitat's at Petco in once a week. From there we began our fostering journey. My passion is caring for special needs animals and bottle babies. Elaine the rescue's director, is the heart and soul of the organization. Her passion for helping animals is contagious. She works tirelessly, and goes above and beyond for the animals in the rescue. The care and attention Happy Homes gives to each animal from their vetting, medical attention, to proper nutrition is matchless in my opinion. The animals in their care are treated as family. They stand behind their adoptions for life and work with great care to ensure a responsible and well matched placement in a forever home. The volunteers are there for post adoption support which is invaluable!
I began as an adopter through Happy Homes many years ago and was so impressed with the rescue that I became a volunteer. Prior to coming to NJ, I moved quite a bit and worked with many rescues, so I have a good frame of reference. I chose to remain as a volunteer for Happy Homes because of the outstanding love and care this organization brings to these animals. Calls come in at all hours of the day/night/location to help abused/abandoned/homeless animals, and these people go out of their way to help. When I first connected with Happy Homes, I know I was thoroughly vetted before I could adopt, and I have seen that happen with other adopters time and time again. As a foster, my home and where and how the cats I foster are cared for was vetted, and I'm frequently visited by others from the rescue. I've seen homes where other fosters are cared for as well. We all run a clean and tight ship, because we genuinely care about the health and safety of these animals. Our one and only concern is finding safe and loving homes for these animals. I know that if one of my cats has a health or behavioral issue, I can send a text at pretty much any hour and get a response within minutes. I've received calls to help from holiday gatherings, kids' birthday parties, you name it. This is a 24/7/365 organization. And, this goes for both my fosters and the cat I adopted. Because Happy Homes has good working relationships with local vet clinics, I know I can always find good, immediate care for my cats as well. I absolutely recommend Happy Homes as a great rescue run by outstanding individuals.
I have been associated with Elaine and some of the other fine folks at Happy Homes Animal Rescue for many years and I can state unequivocally that these selfless and caring rescuers go above and beyond in their tireless work of rescuing as many at risk animals as humanly possible, getting them vetted no matter what the cost, and matching them up with the perfect furever homes! I’ve acquired over a dozen rescue cats from these folks through the years, some of them special needs, and they always take care to see that the right animal(s) go home with the right adopters. Whenever I can, I contribute to their efforts and I always recommend them to friends looking to adopt. These people are literally doing the good Lord’s work when it comes to the animals. I endorse them without reservation, but with an abundance of admiration!
This is by far the best rescue I have ever worked with. Elaine is very professional, knowledgeable and honest. She cares about the cats in her care and goes above and beyond to meet their needs. This rescue does a lot of local TNR work and saves many local cats and kittens. They also have many special needs cats that they take in under their care. These are some of the cats in their habitat that are very well taken care of. Highly recommend!
There is no better rescue around than Happy Homes. Elaine and her team work tirelessly to save cats and kittens and place them in loving homes. They socialize, vet and love these animals unconditionally. I met Elaine when I was in need of TNR help in my town, she helped me vet and fix over 20 cats. One of the kittens we trapped was an adorable black and white long hair. I fell in love with him and once he was of age, we decided to adopt him. The best choice I ever made. This rescue truly cares about the well being of all animals, not just cats and a rescue like theirs is hard to come by. They are meticulous with vetting, spare no expense to save a cat that would have otherwise died at the needle in a shelter or on the streets. Elaine and her team will have my business for life. When the time comes to adopt again, she will always be my first and only choice because I KNOW I will be getting a healthy, socialized companion.
I would not recommend, actually I’m very surprised that Petsmart would entertain shady … ‘business’. Happy homes is not there for right reasons. The filthy and sick animals are picked from who knows where and displayed in the store without being assessed??? Why? They wanted deposit (they got deposit) and kitty that we fell in love with had upper respiratory infection . The lady told us that kitten will be ready in 10 to 14 days. Happy homes GOT OUR MONEY never did our application ( they never called our vet or any of our references) and we were never able to get in touch with them. For 4 weeks I was trying to find out what is going on with “our” kitten… nothing!!! Not a word? I even offered to pay for a good vet myself ( I kept texting with no avail). Now, they were asking for $20 deposit we left $100 you can imagine not even as a joke did they offer to return the money. The kitten they probably sold to someone else we have no idea. If you think you are doing a good thing adopting from happy homes, think again do some research first. It’s like Cat bar different prices for different flavors a cat is a cat IF IT DOES NOT HAVE A PAPERS ITS A DOMESTIC SHORT OR DOMESTIC LONG HAIR they are charging a couple hundred of dollars more for a exotic that without a papers is just a look a like???? SHADY SHADY PEOPLE!!! We were supposed to adopt in early March and now is mid September so I had plenty of time to reflect and research … cats and happy homes. Guess what, I learned a lot about both. Since then we welcomed two cats to our family from a real rescue …. I still wonder what happened to the kitten it was newer offered for adoption on any of their platforms just disappeared from the face of the earth?? ? Shady …
Horrible horrible experience. Totally insensitive and rude. Would never ever recommend anyone give this place a penny.
Happy Homes Rescue is a wonderful organization. Beth and her staff are excellent. We recently adopted two adorable, sweet ,loveable tabby kittens,we named Marshmellow and Snickers. They are very happy and playful ,they love to wrestle with each other than cuddle for naps. They are eating well and growing. Beth is so caring and understanding she is always there to answer questions and she is very helpful . We appreciate all the time and care she gave when Marshmellow was not eating on his own he was fed through a syringe but now he eats from the bowl ,they are both happy. Beth and all the foster parents are truly Angel's on earth.
