Doing an internship at Happy Hearts Indonesia has been a very valuable experience for me. The work that they do has greatly helped schools in need of a proper building to provide education for children in underdeveloped areas. Even the COVID-19 pandemic didn't stop HHI to continue providing education for the children in need, not only with school rebuilding but also with cleanliness and hygiene habits. They provide sanitation facilities and training for schools to help raise awareness about the importance of good hygiene, especially during the pandemic. I was also blessed with a very positive working environment and great mentors who always encouraged me to learn. Overall, I am thankful for the incredible opportunity and I wish HHI all the best for the future!
Earlier this year, I did a 6 months internship at Happy Hearts Indonesia. It was my first experience working in a non-profit organization and I couldn't have been luckier to be able to participate in a family-like work environment where everyone is dedicated to help the children in Indonesia to get better education.
From this experience, I was able to gain more insight on how education in Indonesia remain one of the main issues especially in the remote areas of the country and how HHI with its many projects is trying to resolve it by rebuilding schools.
Thank you very much Happy Hearts Indonesia for the opportunity, best of luck for all of the upcoming projects!
Happy Hearts Indonesia have a special part in my heart. I experienced great memories as I worked closely with Happy Hearts Indonesia for the past 3 years.
In 2017-2018, our Student Council started the fundraising project with Happy Hearts Indonesia, with a dream to rebuild a school in Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur.
Mr.Lusman, the Development Director of Happy Hearts Indonesia, has inspired our Student Council and made them motivated to do the fundraising event, called “A Heart to Help” or we nicknamed it as “H2H”.
On that day, they were able to collect more that 200 million during the fundraising event.
As they graduated, they passed on the legacy to their juniors to continue the dream to build the school in Kupang.
In 2018-2019, the next batch of Student Council carried on the legacy from their seniors. They were able to create another fundraising project called “Amity” – Art and Music for Charity. They were motivated to raise money in order to reach the target to build the school in Kupang. On that day, they were very proud to collect more that 130 million during the fundraising event. With that amount, they were able to fulfill the dream embraced by their seniors and made that dream comes true.
In 2019-2020, the dream did come true. The next batch of Student Council and student volunteers from Junior College 1 and 2, were able to go to Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur, to witness the history to rebuild PAUD Siloam, Asam Tiga. Our Dean and myself, together with the 13 students, we went to Kupang to do community service for 3 days 2 nights. The students were repainting the wall of the school while interacting with the local people and the children.
It was a heartwarming moment when we were welcomed by the villagers and they entertained us with their traditional dance, song and food. We could not forget the time when we stepped our feet at the site. We could not believe that the dream to rebuild a school did come true.
Until know, the Student Council and student volunteers still keep their memories in Kupang. It was an unforgettable moment, to see and witness that we were able to make a difference in a community.
Moreover, Happy Hearts has taught us to embrace the possibilities to reach out to those who are in needs, especially to bring the spark of hope for the next generation.
We hope Happy Hearts Indonesia will continue to inspire others, as it has inspired mine and the heart of our students.
Head of Department, Student Development
Raffles Christian School, Pondok Indah Campus
I loved seeing the progress we (volunteer group) made in just a few hours, installing the paving blocks and painting the wall. And most importantly seeing the kids enjoying their activity in new classroom and proper playground is priceless..
While I was Dean-Principal at Raffles Christian School Pondok Indah Campus - I had the privilege to lead the school to complete the 2nd round of fund raising (the 1st round was completed prior to my arrival) for Happy Hearts (HH) to rebuild a preschool in Kupang NTT. Mr Lusman provided excellent support by gracing the event and came again to present the certificate of appreciation to the Student Council and received the raised amount from the Student Council. Along with the HOD in-charge of the project and Student Council members, I had the further privilege to travel to Kupang to complete the painting of the school. HH provided seamless support and coordination for the trip and its team on the ground took excellent care of us - from the moment we landed till the time we departed (they even made the effort to make a detour for purchase of babi sei!!). Thank you HH for all that your organization is doing to provide a better environment for students.
I own online shops and have been donating a portion of my sales monthly to Happy Hearts. After 1 year, I was informed that it was used to fund PAUD Nurul Huda in Tangerang.
Through out the process, Happy Hearts team kept sending frequent updates on the progress and once the construction was finished, they also held an Opening Ceremony and invited all donors.
I just could not contain my joy seeing the kids enjoying their new class rooms with colorful walls, new play ground with slide, brand new sets of chairs, tables, toys, and computers!
It was a precious experience and I look forward to rebuilding more schools with Happy Hearts.
PT BUMI Resources Tbk. on Happy Hearts Indonesia works.
After a selection process of schools in the greater Jakarta area and based on proposal from Happy Hearts Indonesia in 2018, PAUD Evitha Galuh in Tangerang area was chosen because the improper condition of the building to accommodate 70 students enrolled in this school. A small room of 20 square meters provided by the school manager is the only classroom that all students used in turn. The room itself is without proper ceiling and often caused students to endure extreme heat during the day. While roof leaks at several spots also interfere with learning activities in rainy season. In addition, students and teachers must also deal with the absence of sanitation facilities. This condition has driven BUMI to channel financial assistance for the improvement of PAUD Evitha Galuh.
BUMI funded the rebuilding of two new classrooms, a teacher`s room, library, dan two toilets. In addition, furniture and educational toys were provided for more effective learning activities. Since February 2019, PAUD Evitha Galuh reconstruction has been completed.
The second project in 2018 in collaboraton with HHI was the construction of four library in four target schools in Tangerang Regency. PAUD Harapan Bunda, PAUD Al-Mabrur, PAUD Taman Hati, and PAUD Dharma Pertiwi currently have a decent library. The libraries also equipped with book collections.
In 2019, as part of the disaster recovery program, BUMI in collaboration with HHI also conduct a reconstruction program for PAUD Mekar Harum, in Tegal Maja Village, Tanjung District, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). BUMI trust that children in Tegal Maja Village would receive a better quality of education by the existence of the school, which indirectly fostered public awareness about the importance of early childhood education.
Happy Hearts Indonesia helped connect me and two other friends to a school they had just recently refurbished! Even in the quarantine period, Happy Hearts Indonesia was able to continue volunteering and helping underprivileged communities. I am so grateful to be apart of that process. Throughout the span of two weeks, we were able to tutor and teach English to the teachers at a local school in Tangerang. As teachers, we were amazed by the response of the students - they are eager and passionate about learning a new language. Overall, Happy Hearts Indonesia did a great job by connecting us with the school and providing us with the opportunity to share our knowledge!
PT Softex Indonesia has been teaming up with Happy Hearts Indonesia (HHI) since 2018. We have been working on school rebuilding project to take part in improving early childhood education in Indonesia.
During our cooperation, HHI shows professionalism and genuine passion in helping communities in needs with focus on children education.
HHI also raise the spirit of volunteering in Softex Indonesia’s employees who actively participates in the school rebuilding activities. We hope our continues collaboration is beneficial for improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
It was a wonderful experience to be involved in rebuilding 3 PAUDs at Karawang, Sidoarjo and Labuan Bajo. Happy Heart Indonesia give us (volunteers) an opportunity to rebuild school with our own hands and to interact with students, teachers and parents.
The very touching moment was when I saw the students smile and enthusiastic about their ‘new’ school.
Thank you Happy Heart Indonesia for making me realize that volunteering is fun.
Rebuilding schools, restoring hopes with Softex Care Club and Happy Heart Indonesia.
I did a 5-month internship at Happy Hearts Indonesia while preparing for my master degree. At my first day, I was awe-struck that the office was actually a regular house (some said it's 'Rumah Nenek') so the vibe here is casual. The whole team is always full of laugh, open, and passionate in what they have been doing.
Even though my role was focused on graphic design, I learnt a lot about how non-profit organization works and about the current education issues. With the guidance from my supervisor and the team, I experience it firsthand by visiting some PAUD and talking with the teachers there even though it's not my job as a Graphic Designer. HHI gave me the opportunity to experience the real process of school rebuilding.
Wishing you the best of luck, HHI Team! Keep rebuilding school :)
I am a teacher from Bina Tunas Bangsa School, Jakarta. Our students raised fund and went to the site to finish their project. I should tell you that this is a life changing project for all my students. They worked tirelessly and went home being more grateful with what they have and wanting to do more in the future to help more kids.
I would like to thank HHI, especially Mr. Lusman and Ibu Kiki for helping us there as well as the people of Desa Wali Ate, Sumba Barat Daya. Your spirit is amazing! God bless!
Indorelawan was very happy for the collaboration with Happy Hearts Indonesia, thank you for give us the opportunity to be involved in building PAUD in Tangerang. Happy Hearts give out our chance to share with those who really need, thank you Happy Hearts!
I am so happy for the opportunity that Happy Hearts Indonesia has given to us, the students of Mentari Intercultural School Bintaro in participating in this lovely project. Our batch of 2019 and 2020 worked hard in gathering funds in order to help rebuild Paud Nurul Huda. Initially, we all only did it to complete our CAS for IB, but we soon realized that the experience is much more than just a requirement to finish our IB. In fact, it became so much more than that. What was initially seen as a burden to speak arguably became one of the best decisions we have made as a batch. The jubilant emotions, the gratitude of the people and the squels of happy children made all the blood, sweat and tears (reference to Churchill ^_^) worth! Shoutout to Pak Lusman and his team for giving us this opportunity!
Mentari Intercultural School Bintaro just concluded a project with Happy Hearts Indonesia last Saturday, 2 November 2019. It had been a very long 2 years, but we've finally succeeded in rebuilding the Sekolah Paud Nurul Huda in Tangerang. Two batches of our IBDP cohorts had worked for a number of fund raising projects, including 2 successful Gala Dinners, to make this happen. Through it all, Happy Hearts Indonesia, represented by Pak Lusman, worked with us all the way; acting as liaison, facilitator and friend every step of the way. There is no doubt about HHI's sincerity in its mission of not just rebuilding schools, but mostly restoring hope among underprivileged children in Indonesia. We are looking forward to working with HHI again!
We volunteered with Happy Hearts Indonesia for about a week in Sumba. We helped documenting the individual projects with photos and videos. We got to see schools Happy Hearts Indonesia helped to build or were planning to do so. It was a truly special experience to see and get to know the children and people behind the projects.
During my 6-month internship at Happy Hearts Indonesia, I learned that Happy Hearts Indonesia is not just a name. Besides spreading happiness to the children through its school rebuilding project, it is also a place full of happy people who are passionate to do their job which is rebuilding schools in needs. The whole team members are very genuine and sincere in doing their job. They rebuild each school with their hearts and from that, I have learned that this quality is the most important thing a non-profit organization should have.
Happy Hearts Indonesia also gave me many opportunities to participate in various tasks. I worked on a number of reports and proposal, went to the rebuilt schools, met the partners from international schools, handled a press conference event, and other works that obviously have taught me a lot of things. I am very grateful for this past 6 months and I hope HHI will always grow and build more schools in the future.
I have been working with HHI for over 2yrs now, starting by hosting their first Singapore Fundraiser and quickly followed by being part of a volunteer trip in Sumba to learn first hand of their process on site building schools. Since then, I have been an ambassador to represent this amazing charity and have continued to raise funds and host events in Singapore, and lead a volunteer team to help build 2 schools on Labuan Bajo, Flores. It is a real honour to help so many children by giving them an opportunity to get their education in a safe environment and I look forward to helping more in the future with the HHI team.
During the 5 months of my intership with HHI I was able to experience first hand how rewarding it is to work and volunteer with Happy Hearts. Aside from my daily office tasks I also had to chance to join the team on their trip to Labuan Bajo, Flores. There we helped rebuild two schools and even got to meet the students. I will never forget their welcoming smiles and how happy they were to finally get a proper school building. I can not recommend enough to become part of the Happy Hearts family and to volunteer for a school build or even intern for a couple months in the office. I am very grateful to have had the chance to meet and work with such inspiring people and would not hesitate to do it again.
In 2018 I was asked to be an Ambassador for the #iamchange HHI campaign. It would change my life forever. I had been a part of charity organizations before, but never before had I seen so directly the impact of individuals assistance and participation. After raising funds to build over 200 schools in East Indonesia in year one of a 5 year plan, the team (including Paul Foster and I) went to Flores with a group of volunteers to see peoples donations in action. Seeing the kids’ faces light up knowing how much people cared for them will be forever ingrained in my head, those smiles will stay in my heart. “Getting our hands dirty,” painting, making concrete, shoveling, etc, makes it a truly personal experience should you choose to participate in HHI’s idea of “volun-tourism”.
I am honored to call Happy Hearts Indonesia a family to me. I will continue to do what I can to help because I know how much difference we make to these kids. I have seen it all with my own eyes. Let’s give these kids a better chance, let’s build some more schools.
It's been a true honor and experience to be one of the Ambassador for Happy Hearts Fund Indonesia. So blessed to be part of such an amazing and professional team, with great visions and goals to help children all around Indonesia. To help raise funds, hands on site in helping build the schools. To help inspire and mould young brilliant minds and giving them the best for their education. We always looking for more volunteers to to be involve in our next school build up projects. To see the smiles on each child face is priceless goes beyond what we do for them. Spread love and education. Looking forward to my next build up in Sumba.
When my family decided to raise funds for a charity that focused on children, Happy Hearts Indonesia surpassed all expectations from our seats as fundraisers and donors. Initially just prioritising a transparent platform that benefited the educational needs of underprivileged children, we found so much more in the wonderful people of happy hearts. Not only did they make the effort absolutely seamless from an operatjonal perspective, but they absolutely immersed us in the family that is Happy Hearts. They have kept us abreast of all the developments of our little effort and most of all, just watching their dedication to the children is truly a blessing. They have managed to stretch every dollar and resource to help the children in the Happy Hearts program and I couldn't be more proud to be part of it.
I did an internship at Happy Hearts Indonesia. I must say their work is amazing! The whole team is passionate about the cause and I enjoyed working there. I also visited schools that were about to rebuild and seeing the faces of the kids, teachers and families made me happy to be part of this organisation for a few months. I truly believe that rebuilding schools is sustainable and has an impact. I hope HHI keeps growing!
I am in awe on the scope of work done by Happy Hearts Indonesia. Each project is meticulously executed on tight budgets and schedules. The teams on ground are dedicated in accomplishing their mission. I can only allude this to great leadership. Excellent work! May you continue to scale wider and impart deeper!
I volunteered HHI event at Labuan Bajo last year. I always have passion toward children and their well being, and HHI gives me chance to contribute something. We helped built the school there and though I got sunburn, it was the best moment in my life. I taught how to play frisbee with children, enjoyed singing together with them and ibu ibu. It was awesome experience and I would do it again for sure. Thanks HHI!
I was introduced to HHI few years back where I joined a volunteering activity done HHI in Cengkareng area. Since then I decided to do more for HHI as HHI focuses in reconstruction/renovations of PAUDs in disaster area. It is always exciting to join this charity activities, as we need to share and care more to our surroundings and communities.
Blessed to have the chance to go to Kupang for one of HHI school project. Their sincerity, passion and dedication for the education of the children is simply heart warming to see. Very heart warming to see the work done by HHI and the educators. I hope I will have more chances in the future to volunteer alongside with HHI again.
3 of us went to Kupang for a HHI school and left with our hearts so full. Very organized, very friendly, and very passionate, the staff and volunteers and the educators involved in this project helped make this experience wonderful. Thank you for everything, HHI. Hope to be able to volunteer more soon.
I’ve joined HHI for the volunteering trip in Sumba in 2017 along with other 3 friends.
It was an amazing trip, and also to see how HHI build schools for children and working to ensures children in some remote areas to get the same education as children in other cities, opening our eyes that these children need a better education and thanks to HHI to make it happens. So happy to see kids’ faces when we were there
Quickly we became ambassadors to promote and share about HHI to public and friends.
Since then we still participate in some HHI events in few projects. Can’t wait for the next project
I had the opportunity to join HHI's trip to Labuan Bajo last year and it was wonderful. It is amazing to see first-hand the project of HHI, to see how the whole team worked so hard to ensure the children can enjoy education in safe & sustainable school buildings. It was such an eye-opener for me. It was my first volunteering trip with them and I believe it will not be the last one.
I had such an amazing time with HHI volunteering in Kupang. The team is super committed and very well organised. It’s great to see a Charitable organisation that gets results and is not inhibited by politics. Happy Hearts does an amazing job of putting up schools and increasing access to education in urban and remote communities. I was very impressed with how quickly they can spring into action and how little time it takes them to put up the schools. Massive thumbs up from me. Hope to do more with them in the future ❤️❤️❤️
