Mission: Happy camp fire safe council is to protect and preserve our natural and manmade resources through cooperation, education, and mobilization of local citizens to make our homes, neighborhoods, and community fire safe.
Programs: The hcfsc serves the mid-klamath river with an emphasis on the happy camp area. In 2017, the hcfsc completed fuels reduction work (thinning, pruning, and slash piling and burning piles) on 70 acres under a grant from calfire, 30 acres of fuels reduction work under a forest service grant, and completed approximately 28 acres of fuels reduction work under 2 contracts with another non-profit organization, 1 private foundation, and 2 private land owners. Work was continued on a grant from the siskiyou co. Resource advisory committee to place 8 water tanks in happy camp and the local community to be used for emergency fire suppression. Work was continued on a grant from the california fire safe council to update the community wildfire protection plan for the community of happy camp.
