Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Developmentally Disabled Centers, Disabilities, Human Services
Mission: To enrich the lives of people with special needs by teaching them technology skills in an inclusive environment. Through our efforts, handycapable network provides greater access to technology to economically challenged people and nonprofits.
Programs: Handycapable reaches low-income individuals and families who would not otherwise have access to computer technology by providing refurbished computers. Twelve adults with physical and developmental disabilities volunteered over 8,000 hours of their time to accomplish these goals. Handycapable also recycles e-waste from donated computer equipment, recycling well over 50 tons of hazardous e-waste since it's beginning in 2006.
