The Texarkana Volunteer Center has been a viable part of the Texarkana community for over 42 years. Serving the non-profits who provide services to people in the area through promoting volunteerism is one of its missions.
When Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, Texarkana received several thousand evacuees. The Volunteer Center worked diligently to help get important documents lost, i.e. birth certificates, school records, driver's license and the like.
Many of their children were helped with school clothes, school supplies, etc. People who were not familiar with the area were assisted with housing and every other humanitarian need by the Volunteer Center's staff.
Daily the Texarkana Volunteer Center works to pinpoint and meet the needs of the community to make it a better place to live and work.
