This nonprofit does a lot for two different populations in need on a shoestring budget. They take in homeless animals, providing veterinary care, food and loving attention, while offering job and life skills training to underserved youth in Philadelphia. The animals find loving homes and the young adults gain skills that will help them for the rest of their lives. In addition, program graduates become humane ambassadors in their community.

Mission: Empower adults facing economic and other life challenges to take charge of their lives and learn real marketable skills through working with animals. Hand2paw interns have provided thousands of hours of care, training, grooming and socialization to countless shelter animals. At the same time, the young adults have gained self confidence, independence and transferable work skills.
Programs: Provide job training to youth ages 18 to 22 through paid internships working in philadelphia area animal shelters. Hand2paw interns help shelter animals live better lives while they develop their own empathy, self efficacy and transferable work skills.
