Mission: Hand county memorial hospital's mission is to assess, maintain, restore and improve the health of our community, as well as recognize and preserve the need for each individual's human dignity through our service.
Programs: Hand county memorial hospital, inc. (the organization) operates a health care organization and a 26-bed assisted living center located in miller, south dakota. Health care services provided by the organization include home health services, wellness services, community nursing services, nutrition services, and ambulance services. In addition, the organization owns hospital property and equipment which is leased to a third party for the operation of a critical access acute care hospital. Our assisted living center had 6,000-7,000 resident days depending on occupancy. Most of the residents were from the hand county area. Community health provided many services in the community: wic, family planning, immunizations for all ages and incomes, baby care, toe nail care for the elderly and basic issues that affect the local residents of hand and hyde counties. Hand county ambulance: we received 199 ambulance calls in the year ending june 30, 2015. Calls consist of emergency, ground transfer to other facilities, standby at structure fires, football games, rodeos, community events and community education. We have 34 emt's and three ambulances in our fleet. Home health is provided in hand and hyde county. Between home health and our homemaker program we went on 1,486 home nursing visits and 2,344 homemaker visits. Our dietary department provided 17,314 meals for our assisted living residents. They also are contracted by avera hand county hospital and clinic for meals (5,945 meals) for all patients at the hospital. Dietary also provided 8,624 meals for our meals on wheels program in miller. The last entity is the wellness facilities we operate in miller and highmore. We provide two 24 hour wellness facilities for the residents of hand and hyde counties to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Hcmh inc is a community based organization that provides health services, education, and promotes a healthy life style for the residents of hand and hyde counties.
